I understand the hate. It’s the formulaic late nineties rock song shtick that’s been done a million times, aped by a group of well adjusted former jocks and frat boys. Yes, the vocalist can carry a tune and they can all play their instruments well, but there’s no danger or grit to their music. Fans respect and relate to musicians with damage and trauma that they’re trying to overcome, demons that they’re compelled to exorcise through their music and performances. These guys seem like they eat three square meals a day and never forget to condition their hair after they shampoo. There’s something very “safe” about them. They’re like a well made, pretty knife that won’t cut because it isn’t sharpened. An ornament rather than a weapon. That’s my take, at least.

I’m not sure of the actual guitar, but the frets being that way is called true temperament frets. It helps notes to be in tune with each other in a better way than standard straight frets which have equal temperament.
