Well you can’t put a blanket statement on all 80’s artists. Some like Axl Rose sound awful. This guy just took care of his body and likely kept up with his voice. Warm ups, lack of drinking drugs etc. Good for him

@fred palmer I agree with you 100%! The stuff around today as just as bunch crap and trash! Except for maybe Madonna, Mariah Carey, Susan Boyle, Cecile Dion, Alicia Keys (What ever happened to her?) & Boys to Men, but that's it! If there's any talented artists today, it's a secret to me!

It's a classic for sure but very much sounds like the 80s. Which isnt bad but I wouldn't say it's timeless. Some songs seriously seem to have a sound seperate from the decade they were in. This isn't one of them. Still a great song.

@sidpheasant7585
@sidpheasant7585 3 ай бұрын
Most of all relevant to this era. It's called prophesy and that's a gift from the Holy Spirit. The song has extremely complex and divine lyrics. When the walls come tumbling down that's Joshua with the Holy Spirit at the Battle of Jericho. Won by using music to ensure victory for the Lord! We think we are in a place where the light cannot reach us, but the walls come down (always considered a moment of liberation and truth) When they do "I'll be right behind you" - that's a change of narrative source (of which there are several in the song. You know, I hope, who the "I" who will be right behind us at the end is? The true ruler of the world... As opposed to the current (1 John 5:19) ruler. This is why the song is so very great, and even defies simple classifications like "sad or happy" It's the great recognition of love and truth - and the Paraclete is the Spirit of love and truth...

It’s fake. Totally flattened out digitally. I get that they feel they need to do that at their age, but I’d rather hear their voices with age and imperfections in it than digitally altered processes sound. Listen to Bob Dylan in Rough & Rowdy Ways, Jerry Garcia singing Visions of Johanna live in 95 shortly before his death, for example. Very different than their younger voices, but real-and powerful in their own way IMO.

I can’t find a single flaw with this song. Perfection in every way. To me, it is relatable to everyone if you truly understand the lyrics. It essentially asks the question, “How do you go for what you want in life without harming or stepping on others?” Or maybe, “How do you attack your ambitions without damaging or harming the world?” At least that’s how I’ve always felt about it. It makes you think. I love this band. I’ve probably heard this song 1,000 times and it doesn’t seem like enough. So good to see them doing so well.

@@arturoromero951 Of course dude, but I'm referring to how I feel about TFF. I've complimented other true talent when it's deserved. It's not just nostalgia; I'm underwhelmed with a lot of what's considered the norm today. Stream what you want, and I'll do the same. Opinions are like a**holes...

Born 71. This song was constantly playing in the 80s on every radio station. It was an amazing time. Seeing both again after so many years is mind blowing. Still love this song!

I grew up in Upland CA. ‘71 as well. Home of the Badlands. Pipeline. This song was everywhere at the skatepark for two straight years. We were punk rock but we LOVED this album. Man. These guys are pure genius.

@@janbrobergshow914 I believe the OP was referring to the band live sounding close to their sound on the album. Alot of bands sound different (better or worse) live than they do from their albums.

The fact that it’s a live performance and never lip sync, and still sounds as good as the studios recording is amazing.

@@lovescarguitar I hate when bands change the song in live performances. Adding longer guitar leads, changing lyrics, or breaking into a drum solo out of no where. I believe egos take over sometimes. But T for F did a great performance here.

Holy smokes they've aged. I mean, sure, "duh"... but I hadn't seen them through the years so it was a shock for me. Still, their voices and talent are exactly the same, I'd argue even better. Timeless.
