It's funny how people in western countries especially the US finds speaking two languages so fascinating. Everybody in India speaks three languages. You are cool only if you know more than three. My dad's cool.

Like I speak English almost fluently (with a bad accent no doubt) despite never having lived in an English-speaking country and then I have these terrible blank moments when I can't recall the Czech words for things and only English words come up. Which is okay with my sister who also speaks English fluently so I can just throw an English word in there but it can get awkward at other times when I do need the Czech words and I just freeze. :D

In Europe this is normal. Here in Germany people regularly throw in some English sentences and everyone still understands. We also commonly tell others that we're bad in English but as soon as someone makes us speak it, we're pretty fluent. 😂

honestly, I love Oscar Isaac but the fact ppl are only acknowledging this bc he’s famous is weird. Like why not praise immigrants for being bilingual? But no, they aren’t significant so we don’t care. Otherwise, woah cool many languages that’s so cool! Like dude come on. Praise everyone who’s billingual instead of just famous bilinguals. But anyway, Oscar Isaac is incredibly cool and talented and deserves to be praised. Not saying he shouldn’t. Just that other bilinguals also deserve the same respect.

Most young latinos in the US including myself are bilingual simply because we live in the US and have to speak English but we also speak Spanish because it's our native ancestral language and it's taught by our parents. So we kinda have no choice, it's just part of our culture.

Well, generally I don’t like remakes. However, he could certainly portray a character like that, although I don’t see Isaac pursuing roles that seem a bit stereotypical. Also, there are plenty of great Cuban actors for those roles, and Hollywood these days tries to cast people from the culture in question if possible. Also, that movie was an 80’s movie when the drug trade was biggest in Miami, but after Reagan and the Fed cracked down so hard there, it moved more to Mexico, and so “Sicario” is more current.
