The Origins of Reyna's Story | Valorant Lore

Given that Reyna is so passionate about Radiants being the future, it's quite possible that Radiants in Mexico were severely oppressed. If one of those places took up Killjoy on her offer of a defense matrix like she offered Morocco, then perhaps there are entire cities decked out in KJ tech, and if that place is oppressive, the bots would be aimed right at Reyna and her people. Reyna would also likely fight back, slaughtering as many people and bots as she needed to be free, even if it was the entirety of a cities military and policing population. That's the mound of bodies she probably made, leading a radiant revolution and conquoring a city. Since she led it, she's now the Empress of that city, playing into her whole queen vibe, she's created a radiant haven in mexico. Also, if her powers heal her, they probably also restore youth (she is inspired from vampires after all), so she may have been so far as her seventies when she became a radiant, and the more she fought the younger she gets. Reyna isn't actually in her twenties, that's just the age her body is at right now. Finally, it's quite likely that Kingdom offered a sanctuary to oppressed radiants, in exchange for studying them, and that led to her little sister vanishing. The only issue is that there's a severe age gap in their ages, if Reyna is old but restoring her youth, why is her younger sister around 11 years old? It's possible that Reyna and her sister had the same radiant ability and the younger sister has a huge kill count, but I'd find that odd, so there needs to be some balance between the age Reyna's at really and the age of her sister. My best guess is that Reyna was mid-thirties or late twenties at first, and has gotten her age to where we see it since the first light, which would make her far older than she appears while not being implausible that she has a little sister of that age

I don't think Reyna's voice line "Oh Jett I remember being so young, it's good that you'll die before feeling old like me" means that she's older than her voice actor said. I think she is Immortal and is saying "old" because if you've lived for hundreds of years, you will probably feel old whether or not you are going to die of old age. Which brings me to another reason why I think she is immortal: I think she acquired her powers at a very young and was transported back in time. So she would participate in world wars (Kayo is sent to deal with her) and the player card which has Viper walking in a lab with a little girl would be Reyna at a young age before she was transported.

That can explain why there is no grudge on viper. In a timeline where she would find out about her young self dying, it will branch to the timeline where Kay/o is from.

I don't think Reyna is from another universe. I believe that she calls "humans" to non-radiants because they lack powers. Also, her age is something I think Karina Altamirano (Reyna voice actress) simply messed up with. It is confirmed by the voice lines of Phoenix that she is older than most of the agents. So I don't think she is on her 20's. Still great video as always Jeppy. Amazing work!

Phoenix doesn't confirm it, he ASKS how old Reyna is, bc of the things Reyna says, I say a lot of things that usually only older people says, I'm an introvert, thus I need to find about things to find peace of mind, Reyna has probaply different reasons for saying stuff like that, as stated by Sage's email to brimstone: "I agree. If we are to welcome additional recruits like the one you describe, we need to formalize Radiant training program as a part of the process. Reyna will want to lead the program. This is a mistake. Her philosophies are too dangerous for new recruits." "I would be honored to helm this effort. I have already started to work on a proposal." This lets us know that Reyna has philosophies that Sage doesn't want her to poison recruits' minds with. The point about the VA messing up is very unbelieveable since she is allowed to say only few things about her, so that the lore doesn't get ruined, then how could she mess that one up, that she knew was gonna come (who wouldn't ask that). I don't wanna shit on your beliefs, but if Phoenix or anyone else asks a viable question doesn't make it true, much less when there isn't an answer from Reyna.

I think I heard somewhere that KJ tech malfunctioned while viper was experimenting and that's what killed Reyna's sister, and so Reyna blamed KJ instead of viper, though there is still some disliking between viper and Reyna, given some of the voice lines, but it's nowhere near how much Reyna dislikes KJ. That is just a theory tho. Yk it might not have even been viper's fault, if kj makes tech used by kingdom or some other company, then it may have indirectly hurt reyna's sister, and viper is trying to keep her alive using the souls reyna collects. I feel like everyone treats viper like she is completely ruthless, but part of me thinks that under her cold exterior she actually has pretty good intentions but that's just my opinion on it.

After watching some of the videos after one another, I think this Reyna is somehow the one KAY/O killed in the radiant wars, or from an alternate timeline. Mainly because of that line "Skye, this is just the beginning of your power" where the only one who knows how powerful skye will be is KAYO. Reyna may not be the same one from KAYO's timeline, but I'm now pretty confident she might from a timeline where things played out similar to it.

I think that when she takes a soul, she simply devours it, unless it is another Reyna’s. Seeing as each radiant has a power, Reyna’s is soul, so when she kills another Reyna, that Reyna merges consciousness with her, even in death. Our Reyna keeps fighting versions of herself from different universes, and when she takes their souls, they have so much power that they merge with her. She cuts herself off and says these things from other worlds because she has the memories of alternate Reyna’s lives that she has killed in battle. These Reyna’s have fought battles and lived long lives, not her. She is regarded as a creature because she is a killing machine, not to mention an amalgamation of herself, and this is why her empress form is so powerful, she is combining her different selves. This is why she mentions “losing control” and her empress power is her doing exactly that. She embraces the one similarity that all her personalities have: the hunger for death, and uses it to become an unstoppable force. She is constantly in a battle with herself, trying to figure out which memories and thoughts are ACTUALLY hers

I do think Reyna’s little sister is a huge part of her and her lore. But i have a theory that the little girl in the banner holding Viper’s hand may actually just be herself. She seems familiar with Viper and her habits, and I wouldn’t put it beyond Viper to have been the reason why Reyna does not look the age she seems. We also don’t have much information on what exactly her Radiant power is to allow her to age abnormally or traverse worlds or even timelines.

This is what I think happened: In the world she's from, Mexico is in some sort of Dictatorship with her people being oppressed. Reyna being Reyna, lead her people against the Mexican government for many years. If she indeed lived very long, Killjoy was not born yet during the start of the revolution. Near the end of the conflict, the Mexican goverment signed a contract with Killjoy to use her tech. During one particular battle, her people probably got slaughtered. Reyna and other survivors probably were either captured or went into hiding. This is when Reyna met the little girl. There are two scenarios that could happen, one for each of the outcomes I mentioned earlier. If Reyna and the Survivors were captured: Reyna met the little girl and had gotten close during their time in captivity. Kingdom is doing human experiments on survivors. The little girl was picked for experimentation. Reyna escaped and tried to find the little girl. There are several ways this could end. Reyna fought the Kingdom's guards to try and find the little girl but failed to since security is too much and decided to flee the facility and fight another day _ another one is Reyna managed to find the girl however, the experiment was a success and the girl not being in control of her body is forced to fight Reyna so she had not choice but to put her down | one more is that she found out that the experiment failed and the girl lying on a table dead | last one is whoever was in charge, maybe Viper or Dr. Sabine at this moment was able to escape Reyna but Reyna did not know that it was Viper nor did she see her face. The 2nd scenario is: They went into hiding Reyna got close to one of the survivors, a little girl and vowed to protect her. The one fateful day, they were spotted and were cornered. The army is accompanied by the Kingdom's mercenaries. The army attempted to arrest Reyna. Kingdom took the little girl away. On the way to the prison, Reyna was able to escape and track down were the Kingdom took the girl. Reyna broke into the Kingdom facility This scenario probably has the same ending as what I mentioned on the first scenario.

I heard a theory that suggested that Reyna is a vampire. What if she received her radiant powers in her 20's and has been immortal ever since, devouring souls of the people she fought in her past battles to become stronger and to regain her drained energy. Also the fact that she hates technology show's that she's lived long and saw that radiants are more powerful than them. Also about KAY/O programmed to kill radiant opponents, or was made to solely kill Reyna show's the power and manipulative nature she has with other radiants.

I feel like killjoy from the timeline reyna comes from killed her little sister. I mean, the voice line where reyna says “what they did to… nevermind” makes it painstakingly obvious that kj hurt someone reyna loved (most likely her sister). You even made the point of Reyna not hating Viper. While I don’t think it was because she was unaware (because lets be honest, she could have probably at least have gotten suspicious of Viper with all the the she had. I've heard the actual story is that her sister is not dead, she's still alive and was hurt badly by the machine she mentions killjoy making. The souls she collects help to keep her sister alive which explains the "for you hermanita" voice line. There's a similar voice line by clove where they say that they will willingly give some of their life to "her" because she "deserves it". Referring to her little sister.

reyna isn't an otherworldly creature, one could classify her as a vampire radiant, where her skill set is where one of her abilities heal her, which is probably how she's survived so long before the First Light, like how neon came before the first light as well, she could've come way before, or even from the future, where jett was old.

I think her voice lines have something to do with her abilities and not her being from another world, as mentioned "I will kill even if it means one more day" Is probably referencing her healing ability, it is probably how she has survived so long through so many wars with that ability and kill count. Her other skill dismiss also grants her immunity when used, that's also how she could survive the wars. The only thing that doesn't support my idea would be Astra's voicelines.

watching this now, 2 years later, with newer voicelines moreso confirming that reynas massive kill count is to give life energy to essentially ventilate her sister's life and the voiceline she has about killjoys tech, makes me lean towards the belief that kjs tech gravely injured her sister, and her absorbing these endless souls is as viper reiterates in a recent voiceline, the souls she collects are being used to keep Lucia, as Reyna names ( "As many souls as it takes Lucia) , alive. so even if reyna is a lot older than late 20's, its possible that her giving these souls to her sister through vipers science, is giving her the same youth suspending effect. Reyna is by far one of my most favorite agents all around.

Theory! What if Reyna only hates Killjoy because Killjoy made most of the tech in Kingdom, and Reyna without knowing exactly what happened to her little sister goes to the one with the most motive, not motive but like the one who you would default too. Killjoy is not a violent person and from her voice lines I don't think that she know why Reyna is mad at her, if she did, perhaps her voice lines would be different, and perhaps Killjoy would hate Viper, for keeping Reyna mad at her when she didn't do anything, although she already thinks that Viper is hateful, she also thinks she has a brilliant mind, so I guess she has a bit of a complicated relationship with Viper. I don't think it would be complicated if she knew that Viper was letting her take the blame for her mistake, maybe in the future we'll find out about this. In my opinion. Killjoy is obviously the innocent caught in this battle between Reyna and Viper, Reyna just doesn't know she's hating the wrong person and Killjoy just doesn't know what she did.

Actually, Killjoy may have been something to do with Lucia (Reyna's little sister). The voiceline that we heard "What they did to-" implies that Killjoy's machines may did some kind of harm to her. The souls that Reyna takes from her enemies, with the help of Viper, gets put into Lucia's body, so she may live. Idk if that's true but ig it sounds true.

Crazy thought what if kay/0 didn't actually succeed in killing Reyna. Hear me out if this is true everything stated lines up perfectly. My main evidence isn't much to go off of but Reynas voiceline to skye saying "this is only the beginning of your power" is huge to me. I say this because we know skye became extremely powerful by the time the radiant wars came around. not only that but it would explain her age as she traveled to our dimension possibly the same way kay/0 did after a lifetime in hers. I think that Reyna is from the Future same as Kay-O a different one, Kay-O came from his future where he kills Reyna and Reyna could've come from a place where she won or otherwise escaped her Death before Kay-O and is now trying to change the future by preventing Kay-O from Existing but returned to a different past where Mirror Earth was the Enemy rather than from Kay-O's and Reyna's Timeline where it was Humans vs Radiants. Same Reason why Reyna hates Machines because it was the only thing that really posed a threat to her reign in the timeline where she comes from and I believe that KJ created Kay-O or the baseline from which Kay-O came from hence why Reyna also has a personal vendetta towards KJ, alongside Brimstone and Sage because I believe that they were alongside the Resistance that opposed the Reign of Reyna while Reyna commends other Radiants or other Agents that became useful to her.

A little late to the video, but what if the little girl that Viper was "experimenting" on was to do with teleportation and was with the real Reyna? It could lead to some sort of swap between the real and mirror Reyna that Viper can maybe not realise since there is no difference physically between any two versions of any agent, and at a child's age is likely much easier to swap out . Meaning that Earth 1's radiant is actually from Earth 2.

I'm late but that voiceline with Reyna saying that Skye is at the beginning of her power, in combination with Kay/o's saying he's seen what Skye becomes and that they should stop her now. I am certain that Reyna is from a alternative world where she won the war against Kay/o, Killjoy and the humans and is the empress of that world. "Her city." You can see from the radients she communes with that their alternatives all helped in her war. She probably came to alpha earth because she ran out of human batteries. And somehow Astra knows. I wonder how someone as twisted as Reyna could be friends with someone as pure as Gecko

i was thinking of more like, she got memories of her other selves, she isn't a bad person but she is currently collecting bunch of souls for HER and her LITTLE SISTER. Hey! I know I'm late to this but was just checking if there was further info on her lore. People theorized this and i think it's pretty accurate, so basically, Viper gave that kid to Killjoy for experimenting, we don't know for what surely, but she died probably.. that's why Reyna hates killjoy and not Viper that much. But what i find disturbing is that Reyna commends even the enemy Viper but if Reyna's against Viper, she says "eat your own heart out, Reyna!"

Maybe Reyna is from the future? She talks about things Killjoy makes, but she doesnt know. Maybe the little girl Viper tested on was her sister, and Reyna is the outcome of these experiments. That would also explain why she speaks of wars. Maybe the radiant and non radiant fight in the future?

I have a theory that all Reyna are just a clone of the original and are connected to each other mentally and that y when Reyna dies she leaves a soul orb that theoretical can taken by the original to make a new copy . Or that the Reyna is just a part of the original being that was some where else and remember the original as her little sister and that y viper had done some experiments on her lil sister( the original) and the reason she leaves a soul orb when she does is for the original or her lil sis can use it to restore Reyna to her 20s and revive her and that's other reason viper has experimented on her lil sis coz she wanted to revive his fallen friend omen.

@sirjeppy I just came up with a theory that if Reyna knows Viper had her sister then why won't she kill her? What if Omen is actually Reyna's Sister who ended up getting his soul fused to this person which is why he won't remember anything. Also Viper is angry because she couldn't save either of them. Also what if Killjoy's technology is what failed during the operation on Reyna sister and Omen which is why this happened and Reyna knows this which is why she hates her. Killjoy on the other hand has no idea her tech was used like this. Mexico is a city frequently linked with cartels and drug dealers, so what if Reyna needs to go back to Mexico to get drugs for addiction or to prevent her cartel from being destroyed. If that happens her supply of drugs will disappear so she needs to keep her city in check.
