I think fades power is HER nightmare, like her fears are turned into power that she can control. In the cinematic she said ”mine would eat them alive” referring to her own fears, plus other voicelines she does say some other stuff which backs my theory up.

The fact her power isn't radiant would justify her necklace and ring that many people use as talisman against the evil eye. So her jewelry wouldn't be simple accessories or design thought for this character but would also have an actual meaning and use.

I think when Fade talks about “the Nightmare” like it’s more just what she calls the power that had befallen her after being exposed to radianite. She says how she payed a heavy price for it, but Phoenix had burned down a house while trying to control his power and other radiants such as Jett probably had issues with control as well. The radianite could have also caused her side effects just like it has with Omen as well. Side effects that may lead to mental changes. I think her powers are radianite and not something else. That and Cypher says “your radianite power…”

Fade's nightmare is probably inspired by "Karabasan" from Turkey (I think this because her theme is literally nightmares and she also has a gun skin named Karabasan) . It is basically a very bad and frightening nightmare in Turkish but people also use the name like Karabasan is a bogeyman/demon of sorts. They might have just translated that to nightmare so it is why nightmare is referred to like a person or a demon. I think Fade might also be calling her radiant self nightmare as well. Pretty interesting because I do not see anyone that has made the Fade - Karabasan connection

Turkish girl here! In Turkey, we have superstitions and her ring, nazar boncuğu, is for to prevent the bad eyes and bad omens. We also have witchcraft superstitions linked with islam, one of them are cinler, or demons we can call. I personally was terrified in my childhood and was afraid of dark because they come at night. I don't believe them anymore, but some people still believes them and thinks that they saw them and it is still a huge thing. There are a lot of horror movies about that. Riot might have thought if they want to add a nightmare powered Turkish agent, that might be a good culture-appropriate backstory.

A little unrelated but, ever since we've learnt that the upcoming map should be on Mirror Earth, I've been wondering what the game mode on it will be. Lore-wise, mirror agents plant the spike to steal radianite from our world but that wouldn't make sense with the roles reversed. So will we get the hostage game mode from CS:GO and try to find Fade's target instead of the usual spike planting? Will the devs come up with an original game mode for this map exclusively? Or will our-Earth agents try to steal back the stolen radianite? So many questions and so much hype. As always love your videos man.

I think that fades radiant power originates of a nightmare in herself which is contained by her turkish artifact (ring) just like the radiant orbs help for sage and she kinda releases it when using her abilities ( from there ‘nightmare take them’) and also she says (in the voice audio to brim i think) ‘the nightmare is not an easy thing to wield’ and i also think her nightmare feels fear of others and translates them into nightmares put into fades consciousness just like she felt a lot of fear around the teleporter to omega in what probably is Lisbon

In turkic mythology theres a creature called Basti, the spirit of nightmares. I think Fade might be referring to Basti and she calls him a nightmare because POSSIBLY Fade’s real name might be Basti. Or maybe the person closest to her that she might’ve killed or turned brain dead is name Basti.

im excited to watch this, im very interested in her lore especially since unlocking her on valorant as i absolutely love her abilities and voice (HAUNT MY BELOVED ABILITY, SO CUTE) -- edit after watching: maybe fade suffers a lot from night terrors and instead of just being scared she decided to face the night terror, named it/its called 'nightmare' and the 'price' she pays for interacting with nightmare is the night terrors appears in her vision haunting her, she also mentioned her fears would eat the other's fears alive so its a question of just what fears does she have and what has she been through? not to mention she somewhat understands omen, and this is a really far stretch but maybe this could mean omen can get a bit more help and understanding with who he is, maybe fade can help him remember something in the future lore 7:25 this is so cool omg about the new map, didnt valorant have a new map planned and was planning on releasing it with an initator but scrapped that for now and released neon? maybe thats why, they thought the release of fade later on would make the lore a lot easier to transition into a new map? i missed a lot of lore as i took a huge break from valorant but honestly im so excited to see where it goes from here!

Am I the only one that notices the handprint-like mark on the right side of Fade's collarbone? That could indicate the "price" she has to pay to wield this "Nightmare" as she calls it. Or, it could reference her own fears that she says would "eat them alive" when talking about the others' fears in her trailer. Like, maybe some childhood trauma, or teenage trauma that caused her scar? Plus the scar across the bridge of her nose that spans from the middle of her right cheek then grows wider when it goes towards her left cheek and looks like it gets close to her left ear but her hair hides where it ends.

I haven't noticed anything off with Fade's model, but it wouldn't be the only one that did the character dirty. Brimstone's in game model makes him look chunky (which in and of itself isn't necessarily a bad thing) but it doesn't match with all of his out of game art he's obviously fit, even if sometimes stocky. And don't even get me started on game model Chamber's scrawny little twig arms. They look like they'd snap in two just lifting a sniper rifle, let alone firing one.
