This is Every Valorant Agent Select Screen Ranked Updated! I made a video like this around 7 months ago but decided since Fade and Harbor has been released since then it was time to update the video! I also have a few different tastes on which Agent select screen is better than others! I hope you enjoyed the video and let me know if you think Harbor has a good Agent select screen or not!

Honestly my favourite is Fade's. She has the cool shift from her nightmares to reality and then pulls them out and charges them at people.

The things i love about fade is first she is from Turkey and even if you're client language is English or some other languahe she still speaks Turkish. The other one is fades eyes, they are inspired by Van cat. Van cat is a cat species in turkey and Fade is supposed to be a reference to the Cat species.

Whoever works on animation does a good job, there is a clear difference between Brimstone (one of the olderst) and Fade's (of the newest), Harbor kinda feels anew , but still lacking in comparison with Fade (mb cus he is a hooman and his artifact capabilities are limited dunno, so they chose to showcase that, if we compare with other artifact users, Astra does her thingy and Yoru goes all out with his abilities, I think my theory that if Harbor was a Water Radiant user, he might go wild in that lock screen)

I love Harbor, but yeah his greatest weak point is his select screen visuals. Would've loved to see a waterfall drop to reveal him, at the very least. Fade and Harbor are both human, and both have radiant abilities. Fade's are obviously much more intangible IRL than water (and therefore "cooler") but regardless, she has the much better select screen. I doubt that Harbor's would be updated unless they overhauled a lot of the outdated/lesser select screens.

Pretty sure Yoru is a radiant, but he just gets a power up from using the mask, allowing him to see into other dimensions and get in his ultimate, cuz he can flash tp and clone without it, not even gameplay wise but also in the lore

The older ones don't have a lot of flash and flair to them, and I agree that for some of them like Breach, they should. But understanding that the characters do so much more than the special effects is important. Brimstone's doesn't need to be cool. What is he gonna do, smoke himself off? Stimmy himself? Orbital strike somewhere behind him? His personality is straightforward and direct and it comes across that he's professional and not a showboat. Viper, although the effect of her coming out of the pit is cool, really what makes it awesome is the hand crawling towards the mask and the look of utter disgust and superiority on her face. Phoenix doesn't need to set everything alight in his intro, in fact, it's pretty apparent that despite having fire powers, he's not a hothead, and is cool as can be. Checkin himself out, centering the camera on himself, and then run it back teleports him to a good freezeframe pose. Yes, I won't disagree with the top tiers. Chamber, Fade, Astra, and Kay/O have great cinematic levels of shit, but if everyone had cinematic ones, the REALLY cool intros wouldn't seem as special.

fr the old ones feel right tbh also i like how at the end of all the agent selects for the freeze frame they’re all consistently in the middle looking at the camera so when i see ppl asking for idk things like kicking the camera down and looking down at it or idk them like just in a completely fleshed out setting i.e a forest or something and then there would b all the other ones still in the same consistent background

@@cZk75137 He's cocky no doubt. And his playstyle is aggressive and varied, but his personality is chill and swagger. He's got jokes, he's taking the whole thing as a game, one he knows he can win. You want a hothead, take someone like Breach or Reyna. Those two have temper issues. Phoenix doesn't have a temper like that, because he's not a hothead.

I really think they should update some of the select screens, especially the older ones like Sova, Sage, etc... I mean they aren't bad but they could definitely be cooler Edit: What if for Breach, he flashed from the boxes in the background then he runs at the screen and punches it as the blind wears off, knocking it over, then crouches, looking at it.

the entire screen is orange as breach had used his ult. the crust of the earth shatters as a mysterious black figure with glowing orange eyes menacingly walks to the camera. and when the ultimate ends, breach just poses (idk)

Agreed! Phoenix's select screen should be something like: A wall of fire rises in the background and then he comes in through the wall looking badass with the firewall backlighting him as he walks closer. the wall goes down and then he snaps his finger and lock into his pose like it is in the game.

I have an idea for Sage's new animation Sage will be walking around and finds a wilted flower, she goes to pick it up and heals or revives the flower. Maybe after the animation is finished, She puts it in her hair ? while holding a orb.

I don't know about you guys, but when Yoru says "I'll fight anybody, I'll fight everybody", it gives me chills.... It's one of the main reasons I main Yoru, even prior to his Rework.

A pattern I’m noticing is that in the old lock screens they show a lot of the agents character rather than cinematic ‘wow’ factor. You can make the argument of Omen, Viper and Cypher’s not following this but they do. Omen’s showing his struggle to keep himself together through the quick teleport then how he surges despite simply standing. Cypher showing how mysterious he is through the introduction with the cage then his personality of remaining calm and collected and seemingly in control as he casually flips a coin trip around his fingers. Then Viper (As someone mentioned in the comments) the way she shows off her dangerous side by showing up first with her mask and vipers pit, but when the mask comes off you see her personality shine through the way she creeps up her hand to take off off her face mask then stares at you with a level of disgust and disinterest. Like you aren’t worth her time. Compare that to some of the newer lock screens like Fade and Harbor, what impression do you get of their characters without any insider information? A woman with dark powers then stands there playing with one of her abilities staring at you without any clear indiction of what shes thinking. Then a guy with a water bracelet just showing it off? They speak more to their abilities rather than their character. (You can say the same for older characters as well like Sage and Skye)

I just realize that our POV in Reyna's agent select animation is a soul orb floating around. XD Also, I still love Phoenix's animation. It is kinda conflicting as he is seen with his personality as go getter and very impulsive. But, in the game, I think he should be played in a tactical/methodical way.

I totally expected Breech to like punch the ground causing the same effects as his ultimate to happen(this woulda made him look more awesome). And maybe after the punch, The camera would be woosy a bit then he'd hold it still with a slightly embarrassed smile, move back and then do the pose he already does. All that I've stated shows his character and promotes him more. 1.) Punching the ground to actually show his ability. 2.) Adjusting the camera with the smile to show his comedic side and 3.) The pose to show that he's ready for action.

Ohh for Jett : We see Jett going on the background floating with her ult on , she throws her smokes . then she throws her knives through the smoke creating that anime-ish style with the smokes . dashes through the partially gone smokes then just do the original knife spinny pose ( i like the animation of it so yeah.. and this might be too much)

Harbor's is already really cool with the whole slow-mo part that's got the shine, water droplets, and the expression. You say agent select animations are bad when they have missed opportunities. I say they're bad when they have bad qualities, for example a rigid transition, like when neon transitions from running to sliding. She's running, and then there's a single frame in the middle of running and sliding, which was probably put there to make it look smooth, but it just looks like the camera snaps twice to the other camera angle.

For breach i wished he uses the rolling thunder, the camera shake intensifies as it goes towards the camera As the camera jumps from the ult, you get a flash where when the flash subsides you see breach checking his arm maintenance

i dont know if im looking into this too much, i probably am but in overwatch sombra is a character that can remove enemy abilities just like kayo (or kayo can do it just like sombra) and when sombra uses her ultimate she says turning out the lights in spanish and in the kayo select screen theres a bright light but when kayo powers up it all goes black, idk if this is a reference to sombra and im pretty sure im looking way too deep but i think it would be cool if it was.

Ok for the Brimstone bit sure, but pay attention to color guard routines. It's close to a near standard position (it's either at ease or attention, but it's probably at ease) for Armsholder armsguard? I forget the technical term. Most definitely not the flashiest but it works. Really well actually. Mid toLow C tier for me tho in comparison to others. I dunno flashy isn't everything everything.

You could make Sage contact juggle, moving her hands and arms around the orb, while it seems to be suspended in air. It would not be too different from this animation, and would totally check out lore-wise, and maybe it would look about 82% better

I know more can be done for Brim's select screen animation. But he doesn't have much going abilitywise cos he ain't got powers. He's supposed to be serious and Soldier-like. I don't have a problem with the current animation but it woulda been cooler if he was tinkering with his wrist remote( Probably setting coordinates for the Satellite to know where to strike) before pulling out the Molly gun(Sorry, dunno how to spell it)

Idk like i agree w most(im a fade/kayo main so im happy yk) but theres one that i heavily disagree with and thats jett First shes one of the older agents(she was one of the original if i recall correctly please correct me if im wrong)but i kinda like how she dashes quickly in screen cus thats kinda what she does in game she picks up an op and shows on ur screen for a split second before dashing out I think she deserves A tier (personal opinion)

So I've noticed this one time long ago while playing Kay/o and I kinda got a more sure opinion by watching over and over his loading screen animation. When he pops his ult and the screen goes back and the 4 dots on his face appears, right after that the symbols starts rotating and at some point it seems there's the Riot logo for a split second. Am I the only one who sees it? If you pause around 00:43 you can see what I'm talking about
