I really enjoy using my Sirui T-025x for traveling. I use a small carabiner on the bottom of the center column to hang some weight on windy days.

Sirui makes some good gear. Several years ago there was a photography magazine I believe based in Germany that tested a dozen or so tripods, the Sirui 3204 blew all its counterparts away, the tripod that scored 2nd place was from Gitzo and if memory serves, it was around 10 points below the Sirui. ;)

Your so right having it on the side made me bought that specific ball head to my tripod it mess it up in just 5 try’s I have the slik lite al 420 and I replace the ball head with that specific one I love it but know looking at the way you have your camera I would like to know where you purchase that thing on the side to take the vertical shots please

The tripod head is Arca-Swiss compatible so it would work with any Arca-Swiss compatible plate. Question: How do you like it now that you've had it for a while, and can you switch out the ballhead? Thanks.

Hi Angela. I'm curious to hear your impressions after using this Sirui tripod for a while now...Personally, I don't see the logic in a tripod with a fixed (non-adjustable) center column, as I always use tripods with the center column either removed, or at its lowest position, for maximum stability! I know that you appreciate "Quality" gear, since you have a Gitzo/RRS tripod for studio use. I recently came across a unique and extremely high-quality travel tripod...the FLM "CP26 Travel Tripod". It has super-strong 10x Carbon Fiber legs (26 lb load capacity!) with well-made twist locks, and a ball head that has several unique features that I've not seen in my 35 years of photography using tripods...For example, the "Pan" function permits butter-smooth normal panning, but in addition, adds a 15-degree ratchet function that is fantastic for us landscape/panorama photographers! There is also a "Tilt" knob that locks the ball head so that only one vertical/up/down plane is available. And finally, there is a "lock" function that locks the ball head from panning/turning, so that it can easily be unscrewed and/or mounted solidly. The kit comes with very well-made screw-on metal spikes, and folds up to a compact 15.75" for travel. Quite ingenious and precision design overall, and highly recommended for travel!! Bottom line: This FLM tripod simply exudes Quality. FLM-Canada supplies the US. Thank you, and Happy Holidays!

It's been about 4 months. How do you like the tripod on your travels? I'm considering between this one and the T-024x as it has a collapsible center column however I think the folded size of the T-025x is a few inches shorter. Does the center column bother you at all?

I think I'd consider a different tripod. It was just tooooo light. or maybe I just need to use it more. The center column is meh. I think the tripod overall is meh.

I think you have to pull that pin down to lower the Center column on your new tripod.

Angela, you've noted the exact reason I returned this tripod...the non-movable center column!!! Why a manufacturer would design a tripod in this manner is beyond me, as there is absolutely no advantage to this design! Indeed, every photographer knows that a camera is at its' least stable position on a fully "extended" center column. I'd check out a different Sirius model, or Oben, Benro, or MeFoto instead. Thank you.

I'm a Rep for Sirui. The top of the column un screws and can be mounted at the spider. Thus at the most stable position. It's in the instructions.

In windy weather i recommend the sea suckers and stick them to your car - the car is the best tripod in windy days......if the car blows away.....walk away and come back when the wind is not so windy. Or go sailing.

I believe the T-025 (no x at the end) model does NOT have a center column that can be lowered, whereas the T-025x does feature this additional "action".

For heavy lenses Manfrotto carbon 057 with RRS BH-55 head. For travel, Manfrotto carbon 055 (4-section) with BH-55 head.

The SIRUI T-2205X is much better. The column does go down and it comes with a replacement short column too. It's carbon fiber and is very light. Enjoy your trip.

That tripod does not look stable at all..not being able to lower the center column is a big no for me....I wouldn't trust it with an expensive camera like the Sony A7 and that heavy lens.
