Its too bad that they didn't at least praise Tupac Shakur's unbelievable performance in this film.

They did. They said he was the one to watch. I remember this review vividly. This is not the entire review. They cut it off before the part where they specifically spoke about Pac's performance. Yes, I'm that old lol. Fun fact, Roger Ebert was married to a black woman. Two thumbs up! 👍 👍

This movie wasn't about the awareness of guns, but how guns can change a person into thinking that he or she has power; and that self proclaimed power can bring the dark side out of ourselves that could cause great damage to our friends and our communities. Black people were affected by guns in a way that wasn't typical for Americans at that time. That alone makes this movie stand out. These were kids. It had so many layers of themes. Friendship, peer-pressure, betrayal, revenge, and power... Told through the lens of kids in their natural element. An element that was seldom seen on the big screen at that time. Great film. Siskel and Ebert got this one wrong.

I honestly feel that is a naive statement. Guns don't alter people. Your upbringing and your environment dictates your actions.

I think I would describe this movie as pretty "formulaic" it wasn't difficult to anticipate what was going to happen and how. For that reason, I didn't find it especially a compelling watch. Really could have been condensed into an hour long television format.

I didn't see the movie so much as making a statement about the availability of guns as it was about how violence finds its roots in a violent culture that promotes bad ideas. This tone was pretty consistent throughout the film, as it condemned movies and musical lyrics that glorify the "make it to the top" lifestyle. "Juice" signifies a mentality in which my ego depends on being feared by everybody around me.

angeltosome at the time this was Tupac's first starring role. Previous to this He had a cameo in "Nothing but trouble" with Digital Underground. Roger Ebert had given great reviews in regards to Tupac's acting and films.

Juice is good movie but this is something Spike Lee should direct instead. 👍👍👍⭐⭐⭐

Lee probably would have made a more substantial film but Juice is fine the way it is because it strikes me as more of a throwback.
