Well, Sieskel & Ebert, I love you both, but in 2023, this movie is needed and in these times, it’s finally funny, it was b probably funny back when it was first released, I didn’t see it, now, I watch it every chance I get. I like the Man Who k ew too little. 👍

I like their review of Anastasia although I'm disappointed they never mentioned who directed the film, Don Bluth.

"its a matter of writing the check and you got rights", even though I was a kid I miss the days when rights and licenses were that easy. Gave us a lot of great cartoons, movies, and comics that made my childhood, nowadays everything is too big for that.

I believe their disdain for The Jackal is mainly because they have a great appreciation for The Day Of The Jackal from 1973 which as Gene mentioned was on his (and Roger's) list(s) for the best films of 1973 (No. 5 on Gene's list) and (No. 7 on Roger's list), I guess the moral of the story is to never remake the classic films and that's a lesson for Jan De Bont when he remade The Haunting.

It reminds me of those early Disney animated movies; it has the same fluid, dreamlike quality, like everything is made of satin. Definitely worth a watch!

The Man Who Knew Too Little is not a great film, but I think it's one of Bill Murray's best performances. He saves it from being completely boring, and I don't think any other actor could have.

I have to disagree with a negative review of the jackal I happen to find it a very fun and exciting 90s thriller film I don’t think it’s perfect by any means but it is definitely worth a watch every once in a while and it’s fun seeing Bruce Willis and I truly villainous role
@littlekingtrashmouth9219
@littlekingtrashmouth9219 Жыл бұрын
I agree. If it were a movie unto itself, they might be giving it marginal praise. Take out the whole “Jackal” thing, and it’s got a good pace, a shocking take from Willis, and a back and forth, cat and mouse element to it.

It’s not a great movie but it’s definitely entertaining. The Day of The Jackal is a much better film and if you’d seen that one first you probably wouldn’t have liked The Jackal as much.
@littlekingtrashmouth9219
@littlekingtrashmouth9219 Жыл бұрын
@@sonnyblack0870It works on its own. Day of the Jackal is its own thing. If they dropped it as a remake of that movie set in a different time (hey, why not have Genghis Khan, but he’s not Asian and make it take place in outer space? Yeah, exactly), and made it its own thing, it would stand up as a marginal popcorn thriller. But it ends up being a forgotten movie that didn’t hold a candle to its original, a much better movie.

these guys were actually kindof stuck up snobs who couldn't just enjoy a fun movie without ruining it. i know they are legendary but they were living in a golden age and had no appreciation for so many films that would go on to stand the test of time. i'd be surprised if they even payed any attention to Alfred Molina or Peter Gallagher who gave fantastic performances. and the fact that they just dismissed the actual joke of the film, that it's the repetition of the premise and increasing stakes of the situations through all the various tropes of the spy genre. it's like thatsthejoke,jpg you guys. all respect to them, but they got a lot wrong in their time.
