Ebert is absolutely correct about serpent and the rainhow. . He pretty much said exactly what I was thinking when I heard Siskle's review. . . It is probably the most authentic zombie movie that's ever been made. . As far as, that is the culture that originated the term zombie, it's where the term comes from, Haiti, Voodoo witch Doctors actually practiced this, and people were turned into zombies in a way. . Zombie slaves, they would use that powder on them, then once they were buried, they would be dug up and taken away to work on sugarcane plantations or whatever the person who zombified them needed a slave for. . It's kind of like a voodoo Shanghai. . And since they're dead, nobody's looking for them.

Gene is way off on Serpent and the Rainbow. It's based on a true story and it is truly nightmare fuel. The cinematography, acting and scares are top notch!

The Unbearable Lightness of Being was a great movie! It was released early in 1988 and as a result it got nothing for Oscar nominations. Just a brilliant movie!

Siskel is so fucking wrong about Serpent and the Rainbow. Ebert is absolutely correct on this one. Good job, Roger.

I know Ebert wasn't diagnosed until 2002 but it's almost like you can see something is wrong with his jaw here.

Not wanting to be mean about it, but are you absolutely certain that it's not just the result of him being fleshier? My guess if he's showing something like a bulge is that there could be an infection resulting from less than absolutely perfect dentistry or a swollen lymph node.

We're only publicly aware of the final iteration of the illness that took him; Quite rightly, only when it could no longer be kept private. He could have had a decades-long series of issues.

It really bugs me how Gene keeps basing his reviews on other movies that did it better. Turning your nose up on Shoot to Kill because The Defiant Ones was better is stupid. Stop doing that.

Can't believe they didn't even mention how you don't know who the killer is of the five hikers in Shoot To Kill. I was biting my nails as a kid, thinking who could it be? Is it that guy cause he said this, or is it that guy cause he did that? That part was masterful suspense if you ask me
