The more I watch old S&E episodes, the more I enjoy picking up on the subtleties in their banter with each other. The way Ebert would get annoyed at Siskel’s sometime rambling, when he wouldn’t get to the point of his objections. Or the way Gene would get offensive from Ebert’s pompous attitude, because he after all won the Pulitzer, was older and his last name did in fact come before Siskel’s alphabetically lol. They both liked and disliked each other, like brothers. And most importantly with brothers, they both had respect for one another, even if most of the times it was begrudgingly 😅
