This piece wasn't meant to feature the choir. It was meant to be a solo, singular, quiet and still, with melodic support so soft that it would hardly be noticed. You can hear her sing with full choir support in several of her other renditions with the Tabernacle Choir. Also, just to point out the incredible control it takes to sing such a piece at such a low volume is something that very few singers can do. She is incredible.

I fell in love with Sissel's voice when she sang at the opening of the Olympic Games in Lillehammer. It was a breathtaking performance, and I have loved her voice and followed her ever since.

I was fortunate to be at the concert when this was recorded. It was an amazing experience to be in a hall of 20,000 people where everyone could hear this amazing hush. I have been going to concerts for way over 50 years but this one song was totally unique in all that experience. When she finished there was a ovation of silence before the audience went wild with tears and smiles. Sissel is a favorite in Tab Choir land and this song cemented her reputation for all time.

This song was part of a whole program, and there is probably more of the choir in other songs. I am so glad you were able to hear Sissel's performance here. She is the only person ever to receive a standing ovation from the audience sitting in that building, over 18,000 folks! You are absolutely right -- she was born to perform in this type of genre ; however, excluding her from any other genre would be a mistake. I urge you to seek out more of her performances, as well as those of the choir!😊

The choir did sing "with her" rather than support, in other parts of this concert (July 2019). e.g. How Great Thou Art. She has been invited to be guest soloist 3 times at the Tabernacle. And this is a local historical event. There had never been a standing ovation here mid-concert before. The conductor had to climb down twice from his podium to allow her to take the applause of 18000+

Oh... I wish you would have just let it all play out all the way through the first time... and even let the video play out through the applause... The video ends before the clapping does. You can feel through the applause and her reaction to the applause that it must have been such an amazing experience being there in person. This is one of the only songs that can always bring me to tears as I listen to it- the music played so beautifully by the orchestra, the background support from the angels in the Tabernacle Choir, the simple but inspired words from the writer, and the blessed voice of this wonderful singer... Bless her for training as much as she did to bring this miracle of an artwork to the world!!!

Funny I stumbled upon this video, because my dad actually sings in the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square to this day. Having a dad in this choir for over 8 years has been a massive blessing for me. I’ve been to the choir’s Christmas concerts (which are always LEGENDARY), the weekly Music and the Spoken Word concerts, Easter concerts, and all other concerts. I don’t mean for you to review these songs, unless you want to, but I think you’d really, REALLY like them based off your reactions to Slow Down: •Art Thou With Me •A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief •Slow Down (especially good for calming one down during stressful times) •How Great Thou Art •Come, Come Ye Saints •Praise to the Man •Joseph Smith’s First Prayer These are all songs by the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square which I have grown to love! Of course, there are still many others which are just as good. I hope you’ll like these if you try them!❤️
