I use this item at least 1-2x a week kzbin.infoUgkxQJTPaJo-WI_mBKJOtoUVgCf0fPy2Wh90 Everything except the base is dishwasher safe, which makes for easy clean-up. If it finishes cooking the rice before you're ready to serve it, I recommend tossing in a small amount of water (especially if you're cooking the least amount possible) to prevent the rice at the bottom from drying out. The vegetable steamer feels a bit like a hit or miss with cooking times, and sometimes the color from the vegetables leaks down onto the rice. So, I prefer to steam my vegetables separately. Overall, great item for the cost. I've been using mine for over 8 months and am VERY happy with it!

*Great for a family of 2 or 3. It cooks quinoa, white, jasmine **MyBest.Kitchen** and brown rice really well. Easy to clean and store because of the size. We haven't used the steamer part of it yet.*

I put 1TBS vegetable oil in the water and a pinch of salt to give the rice flavour and avoid sticking. The instructions say not to put oil but I have added oil and it cooks the rice perfectly! I measure 1 cup rice to 2 cups water. Then I put 1 TBS vegetable oil and salt to taste. I cook the rice in the Sistema for 16 minutes on medium high on an 800 Watt Microwave.

It’s because oil damages microwave bowls. As it is a plastic microwave bowl, food should never stick anyway.

I already have one, Single so it was part of a Sistema Christmas present. In a conventional sauce pan I always use about 3/4 of a Mug of Rice and 1 1/2 of water. Cook until water has gone then rinse. I presume I do the same but do not have to cook it for so long?

Your not supposed to actually line up the holes in the two lids. If you put thme at 90 degrees to each other it wouldnt dry out, the water would turn to steam and condense back into the cooker

Never use a metal implement for stirring, such as fork. That's what the plastic ladle is for. The smooth surface of the bowl is paramount and must not be punctured scoured or scratched. Nasty leaching of chemicals is possible if that happens.

What is the materials for the inside rice pot and steamer?
@lonnihurst7945
@lonnihurst7945 6 жыл бұрын
All the holes are curved, so I don't really get the whole 90º thing. But I think the trick is to make sure they're exactly staggered (inside lid holes centered in between the triangle shapes containing the holes on the outside lid - rather than them having any overlap of holes on the two lids.) But mostly, I thoroughly enjoyed the cat, the English accent, and this guy's laissez-faire method for measuring and cooking rice. ;D

There are some smaller holes in the inner lid, right next to the center. These are the ones that you use to line the top lid holes to 90 degrees. It also causes the two layers of holes to be staggered.

fascinating that many people still think brown rice is healthier than white rice. they are like the same product for 95% lol. Yes brown rice does have the bran & germ, but that's mostly useless stuff for humans (obviously, else the rice plant couldnt reproduce itself when you shit out the seed=grain). So you can actually say that white rice contains more nutrition. Now you can also drop the brown vs. white bread, all the same story. Saturated fat is just perfectly fine for you. And salt won't kill you AT ALL, in fact not having enough salt will kill you. Just don't consume too much processed food and especially sugary drinks (including orange juice, "so healthy"), the rest you are free to enjoy all the foods!

I have had three attempts now with uncle ben's long grain rice and first attempt was 12 mins, 2nd attempt 20 mins and 3rd attempt 30 mins. The rice is semi raw, it never goes fluffy. I have done one attempt with a cup and half of water per cup of rice and on the last 2 attempts used 2 cups of water per cup of water. Makes no difference. My microwave is 900w. Have you any tips please. Anybody?
@MaZEEZaM
@MaZEEZaM 5 жыл бұрын
It should always be 1 part rice, 2 parts liquid regardless of microwave power no lid required. It will seem raw if you either under cook or cook it without enough liquid. My microwave is 1200watt and it takes 15 minutes, since you are using the evaporation method of cooking rice, it should take the same amount of time as it’s minimal liquid. Btw, it could also be the quantity you are cooking, I find it doesn’t cook well with only half a cup of rice due to the size of the bowl and lack of liquid however, 1 cup or more always works perfectly for me, SO much easier than cooking in the traditional way and unlike when I used a rice cooker, cooking rice in the microwave means I don’t have a load of rice burnt onto the base of the pot and the difficulty cleaning said pot.

Bad review for this product. I came on you tube to find a better measurement method for the sistema microwave streamer, as Ive just moved country and don't have any of my kitchen utensils. so Ive gone for the way i would cook in a electric rice streamer ..... to every one cup of rice two cups of water. I put it on full heat for 12 minutes, but it needed more time, so Ive put for another 12 minutes....might need more time lets see. its been a long time since Ive used a microwave rice cooker.
@MaZEEZaM
@MaZEEZaM 5 жыл бұрын
The cooking should be the same time regardless of cooking method as the rice can only soak in the liquid so fast. Yes 1 part rice, 2 parts liquid and should take about 15 minutes for basmati rice without a lid, it’s not required in the microwave.
