One thing about Bobby is once you reach his level the audience does most of the singing. Everyone knows the lyrics and the ad libs. All he has to do is start it off. His moves aren't as sharp as BBD's but people are so happy to see him. There is always a different energy when he tours with the group. They are all still so vital to the group.

In my opinion I think the reason why NE is not together right is really centered around Ralph. Ralph has done a whole lot for NE for the past few years. He helped them with a lot. I told Ralph this on his Facebook page. He helped them with the tours, the NE Story, the Lifetime Achievement awards, the Walk Of Fame, all of that. Ralph has put his ego aside for the group since he joined the group back in 83 when they were kids. He was offered a solo deal but he turned it down because he didn’t want to leave his boys behind. He was gonna do his solo record right before the Heartbreak album came out and he put that on shelf. And he’s been talking about putting a solo album out in the past few years but of he’s been real busy with NE. And everybody in New Edition except for Ralph has had a solo album come out in the past few years. Bobby’s “The Masterpiece” Album, Johnny Gill had 2 albums out “Still Winning” and “Game Changer”, and BBD’s album “Three Stripes” came out last year. It’s Ralph’s turn to shine again. Ralph sacrificed a lot for them. I feel that it’s time for Ralph to do his own thing. I personally want to hear a Ralph Tresvant album before I hear another NE album. I’m confident that NE will be back together for one last run. They’ve worked it out before they’ll do it again.

+The NewOne...I'm not sure how true it is but the other members claim they never knew about the sacrifice Ralph supposedly made when they were kids. What alot of people don't know is that the writers talked to each member separately to get their take for the movie. They all said that they had no idea what the other said until they saw the movie for themselves. Therefore, there were some issues with some of the members after the movie came out because they claim to not know about certain situations. They said if they had known about certain things back in the day, they would have addressed it. Anyway, my point to that is that who knows what the real truth is. I'm not saying Ralph didn't make sacrifices for the group - but to what extent only they know for sure. I take some of it with a grain of salt. Only the six of them know the real issues behind this trademark situation.

New Edition is blowing it. With the success of their movie, even if an album wasn't possible, they could have really capitalized off a great tour. But once again, they can't get it together. They are at their best as Ronnie, Mike, Johnny, Ricky, and Ralph...with (a shot) Bobby in a reduced role - like with the all 6 tour a few years ago. And I get it, sometimes, it's hard to get along with folks. But sometimes you put differences aside to reach bigger pictured goals. These are grown men. Makeena Curtis Apparently, Ralph and Johnny trademarked the name New Edition after their biopic was so wildly popular. Once the name was trademarked, RBRM could no longer use it if they toured without Johnny or Ralph. They have to get permission to use the name now. It’s caused friction in the group and I’m not sure how it’s going to play out long term, but it doesn’t look good.

If last year was New Edition's " the time for wine and roses", why did BBD go on a solo tour in 2017? I really cannot understand how Bobby can work on his biopic, Johnny can go on an international tour, BBD can go on tour, and there is no drama. This has happened before...Ralph Tresvant, Johnny Gill, and Bobby Brown formed Heads of State a few years ago when BBD was touring....every few years , there are tensions within the group that cause them to split into factions....Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill probably want to go in a different direction with New Edition,...Johnny for the past 10 years....has released some great music on a indie label....if Babyface or Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis get involved.,... or Brook Payne,,,,maybe things will get resolved...they should have released new music and went back out on tour....but over 30 years in the game...and you guys are going to let the group fall apart like that!

I have a theory. Ralph and Johnny have made a power move. They are great singers but they have not got the edge of a BBD or a Bobby Brown. All the side money and combined wealth/multiple income streams that BBD and Bobby Brown generate have left them feeling some kind of way. The only way for Ralph and Johnny to feel that they are on a par with the other members is to copyright the name for themselves. Of course, RBRM feel that they have an equal stake in the New Edition name too despite appearing to be being better off than Ralph and Johnny. After all, they started the group together with the exception of Johnny. It's the old David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks effect, having the best voices and being the lead singers in a group does not equate to edge and industry smarts otherwise Ralph would have been the next Michael Jackson and Johnny the next Luther Vandross.
