I heard that from BBD's own mouths in an interview. Before they signed to Streetwise records they all used to take turns on lead depending on who was best for singing a certain part. Also, as per Ralph- Maurice Starr was taking him up to the radio stations alone in an effort to get him to record a solo record after Candy Girl album.

The real story is when Ricky’s story is told, I have so much love and respect for this man, brought himself back from drugs, he has the love of God in his heart and soul, you can’t lose when you turn to Him, with Him he is the Controller. Ricky speaks so highly of the Holy Spirit. To be in a drug addicted condition if you hid it and don’t open up you will never concur it, because if not it’s still in control, you have to step out front face it and take control of your own life. These fellows are masters in their craft. All of them beautiful talented artist.

In my opinion I think the reason why NE is not together right is really centered around Ralph. Ralph has done a whole lot for NE for the past few years. He helped them with a lot. I told Ralph this on his Facebook page. He helped them with the tours, the NE Story, the Lifetime Achievement awards, the Walk Of Fame, all of that. Ralph has put his ego aside for the group since he joined the group back in 83 when they were kids. He was offered a solo deal but he turned it down because he didn’t want to leave his boys behind. He was gonna do his solo record right before the Heartbreak album came out and he put that on shelf. And he’s been talking about putting a solo album out in the past few years but of he’s been real busy with NE. And everybody in New Edition except for Ralph has had a solo album come out in the past few years. Bobby’s “The Masterpiece” Album, Johnny Gill had 2 albums out “Still Winning” and “Game Changer”, and BBD’s album “Three Stripes” came out last year. It’s Ralph’s turn to shine again. Ralph sacrificed a lot for them. I feel that it’s time for Ralph to do his own thing. I personally want to hear a Ralph Tresvant album before I hear another NE album. I’m confident that NE will be back together for one last run. They’ve worked it out before they’ll do it again.

Haze Jones: Let me enlighten you to some facts you may not know. Ralph owns NE Trademark. What we don't know is if Ralph gave JG half of the Trademark or whether he gave him a percentage of it. If Ralph decided to sell the NE franchise he would be looking at Mega Millions or even Billions of dollars. How would that work you ask? Ralph could sell NE and work for the person or company that would purchase NE and maintain a percentage of NE, or he could sell NE outright. Now, that wouldn't be good for your boys. If Ralph decided to do that all the records BBD and BB sold individually and collectively would pale in comparison. Could Ralph be saying Ummm they sold more records than me, their careers were bigger than mine and, I'm the one that's responsible for bringing them along with me; so what I will do is outsmart them and take NE Trademark right from under them and leave those ungrateful scoundrels in the dust. If I was Ralph Finance Manager or his Accountant I would encourage him to take this route and shut them down completely. I don't know if Ralph would do this but I would strongly encourage him to think about it. After all, what does Ralph owe them? He owes them nothing. He has already given them almost 40 years of his life While they are off doing interviews and anything else New Edition related Ralph gets paid. Anytime NE name is mentioned period Ralph gets paid. "The person that controls the power is the person that controls the money." that would be Ralph. Oh, by the way, Ralph does have it in him, he shut them down and shut them out; you go deal with that.

Jonathan Lewis: BBD is a one-hit wonder. Even though BBD have put out other songs, however, poison remains their only hit. I don't know why BET thought doing a biopic on BB would be interesting. He has already played his life out on being bobby brown, living with bobby brown and everything else in between for the world to see. No need for a biopic of him. If there is going to be another Biopic it needs to be on Ralph, he is the one that has carried N.E. for almost 40 years. I believe a biopic on him would be just as big as the NE biopic.

Sunshine I disagree. Yes, Bobby has laid bare most of his truths already, but a movie is a movie and we'll still learn new things and get to visually see parts of his life we've only heard about. As a super fan of every member of N.E., this excites me. Same as it would for one-night of BBD given that 98% of their era went unexplored. Also, "When Will I See You Smile Again", "Do Me", "Dope", and "Gangsta" weren't hits? Not saying they rivaled Poison's success and reach but they were smashes.

Sunshine that's fair. And a valid opinion. Let me ask you this though -- and this is a completely unrelated side question -- do you not think Ralph was given a bit of a biased shake in the film? He basically could do no wrong whereas the other fellas were kind of painted a singular way. They didn't show/reference the initial reason Biv even had an issue with Rizz. Which was because Biv's mom went to Ralph's house to see what was up after he didn't show up for an award show performance round '86 ish(?) (with no prior warning) and Rizz ignored her completely. I think that's a pretty significant thing to show when portraying two peoples deteriorating friendship.

Mike Bivens and Ronnie have a very special swag to me. They feel like brothers. Well hell, I love all of New Edition! Ralph Tresvant is so sexy, Ronnie......but the street credits go to Mr. Bivens. Does Ralph own BBD trademark? Look I don't know how Johnny got his hands on that trademark but Ralph deserves that trademark NONE OF THEM above cared about that trademark. Sick of people talking about how Ralph and Johnny shady so you rather have Joe Blow have the trademark who had the trademark before Ralph and Johnny why wasn't they checking for it then. This is more then trademark issues because they had toured last in 2016 without no problems while Ralph and Johnny was owners of the trademark name.

RBRM. Ralph & Johnny own the trademark to the name 'New Edition' (which Brooke Payne created) and won't add the other 4 fellas to the trademark. It's all about money. They should all be equal partners in that business venture as they are New Edition...Brooke too.

Johnny Gill applied for the copywrite of the New Edition name in 2013 and only added Ralph to the contract since then. The rest of the fellas want their fair share of the name profits. Anyone can apply for a trademark www.uspto.gov/ . I'm surprised none of the fellas has applied to own the NE name before Johnny did especially since NE won the battle over the NE name with Maurice Starr in a court of law back in 1983-84.

IceManLikeGervin: Brooke Payne gave them the name New Edition, he did not create the NE TradeMark. BB should not get any part of NE. He has not contributed anything to making NE who they are today. As far as the other 3 their parts were only in the background; they could never be equal to Ralph. Not only does Ralph control the trademark but he also has creative control of the group; now what do I mean when I say that. New Edition is Ralphs' group he controls what is done inside of NE. Ralph has earned the right of Creative Control and the TradeMark. Ralph is the reason RBRM had to get the crowd to sing an NE song, they themselves could not do it. You are so right it is all about money and right now Ralph is banking more money than all 4 of the idiots put together right now without singing one song. When they finally realize the position Ralph has left them in they will come running back, now if it were me I would let them hang out there for a hot second and see if that would mellow their attitudes.

Without the NE name their would be no trademark issues- comprehend? A trademark serves to identify a particular business as the source of goods or services, in this case NE. Also, NE as a group already won a name battle in court over Maurice Starr when he tried to claim that he gave them their name. New Edition, which is all 6 members 5 of which started out welfare poor in the public government housing complex of Orchard Park, is like a basketball team- everyone has a role and a vote as no man is bigger than the collective. They all deserve creative control concerning NE. You seem oddly happy that the fellas are beefing- why is that? Michael Bivins is richer than all of the other NE members. Ralph needs NE just as much as the fellas need him...you only live once. Hopefully they will all work out their issues and reunite as a group as that is what the fans want to see not some fans sitting on the sidelines with no guidelines...word to the mutha!

True N.E fans do not like this trademark issue. It should be all of them listed. If it comes out that all were given the chance to be apart of it and turned it down, so be it; but they ALL worked their butts off.

BBD said that the plan was to do an album and for it to drop right after the movie. Ralph and Johnny didn't want to do it, so that's why BBD went ahead and dropped it. After the success of the movie, BBD was doing the press tours and they said the plan was for NE to go into the studio, but again, Ralph and Johnny had their issues. If you notice, it was Ronny, Bobby Ricky and Mike that did all the press tours for the promotion of the movie. They were the ones showing up to the various cities. No Ralph and no Johnny. Johnny didn't like how the movie didn't cover his life from childhood to when he joined the group.

I love seeing them together. Ronnie is really watching out for bobby and it's warming my heart. I watched a couple of the videos from their tour and can't help but wonder if Bobby has lingering issues from his stroke or some type of brain damage from all those drugs. Love me some Bobby B but the way he was moving was way more than being fat and out of shape.

Haze Jones He is not just a “add on” He gave them the “mature” image as they made the transition from kids to adults. He is the most talented vocally as of today still. He is just as important as RT but they are all brothers and it can’t be four members touring as “New Edition”. They probably knew something like this would happen so they prepared for it, thus the reason why he trade marked it also. He done a lot for New Edition.
