I think as a filmmaker he provided an unbiased view of the subject of how we perceive good/bad hair in our society. It is not a "natural hair is better" movie its a "what is causing us to do this to ourselves" movie. That is not what this movie is about and that is why I think Dr. Cornwell should absolutely create a film about natural hair and why we feel the way we do about our natural hair and the alternatives that we have for it.

I'm natural and I think Chris did his homework enough to provide an entertaining film and highlight the extreme views of some women that desire weaves and straight hair. I wouldn't call it one sided, but I think he could have discussed more about natural hair as an alternative. Of course the movie would have been longer if he went into fros, twists, kinky twists, locs, sisterlocks etc in an effort to share the alternative.

I have never seen the Chris Rock movie, but I will be watching it soon. I currently have sisterlocks, and I love them. After years of cutting, dying, weaving, braiding, and wigs I finally find what was good for me. My thoughts on good hair is whatever hair is good for you as an individual is good hair. There is no bad hair.

I got my sisterlocks just over 2 years and I love them. I can really tell how much healthier my hair is and its grown so fast. I had been relaxing my hair since I was about 5 years old and now 11 years later I dont ever want to do that again

This is an excellent, alternative review of Chris Rock's "Good Hair" movie, as seen from the natural hair slant. Thank you.

Hmmm. The movie isn't about natural hair. It's about the black woman's pursuit of "other" hair that we have been taught is good hair. My mouth was on the floor at some parts. We're putting $1000 weaves on layaway but our children have no college funds. Still not over that.

The title "Good Hair" is a moniker and does not insinuate that chemically processed hair is good hair nor does it suggest that natural hair is bad hair or that women with natural hair are unhappy with their hair. The film does not state that one type is good or bad, it simply states that this is our perception of what is good/bad hair and this is the extent that women will go to to achieve this ideal

@blythebrooks Totally agree with all you said. The sad thing is that so many people refuse to go past the surface.

I think that Chris Rock needed to make this movie in order for our people to see how beautiful nappy hair is.

There IS bad hair, but people create bad hair; not nature!!! I like braiding hair (different ethnicities, both male and female) and across the spectrum i found the worst hair belongs to people who feel they don't have to condition their hair, they never have to trim their ends, or have bleached and colored their hair so much they have forgotten its natural color. everyone needs to keep their hair conditioned, especially if it is chemically altered.
