This is the best version by far! Eldritch on vocals! 🙌🏻

I spent years and kilometers on trains collecting rarities, then lost half of them in different circumstances, but here comes KZbin! I listened to it before my Abitur, what a memory!

incorrect, this was a song that was written by Hussey, for the 2nd album, but Eldritch didnt like it nor any of the other material Hussey wrote so it was never released as Sisters, hence reasons for the split. After Sisters split The Mission were formed with Hussey and Adams and This song was released on the album Gods own Medicine album and its not a Sisters song.

This is indeed not a cover, it's the original of the song released later by The Mission, after the split of the original Sisters... never heard it before, thanks! It's good, but it's easy to understand why Eldritch felt it wasn't right for the Sisters.
@2112jonr7 жыл бұрын
Agreed, and good observation, it's not a good fit for the Sister's repertoire.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of this as an MP3 file? It's such an incredible version of this song which would go beautifully on my long drive home from work :)

I have never heard it with Andy on voc. Why didn't it appear on "First & Last & Always". Was it composed after this album and before the band split? Is the studio version available anywhere?

Andrew Eldritch is and WAS a control freak. Wayne wrote this song, music and lyrics, and Andrew refused to include it as a B side or as a track on FaLaA. One of the many reasons Craid and Wayne left sisters.

If you have enough darkness, dark poetry and feelings in your heart, go watch the video for "butterfly on a wheel" and then tell me that Wayne Hussey shouldn't be a front man.... I feel exactly the opposite, Wayne is a far better singer and songwriter than Andrew, and Wayne's voice doesn't sound like a boring, repetitive spin off of David Bowie 100% of the time, like Andrew's voice.
@2112jonr7 жыл бұрын
Agreed, 100%. There's no argument who's the better singer.

Wayne and Craig were infuriated to how long it took Eldritch to write a song. And Wayne definitely has a better than Eldritch, with his monoton mumbling into the microphone.

This song is meant for the Mission UK, Eldritch sounds ok on this version but doesn't seem full filled. Craig Adams infamous bass lines gives that ole sisters dark shadow sound, it would have been interesting to have Gary Marx contribute. Good song, regardless.

Jesus, never thought I'm going to say this, but here it is - WAYNE HUSSEY SANG IT BETTER. Much better (I'm referring to the original single version, not the horrible orchestral one). It's almost as if Eldritch was consciously trying to sabotage this fine song.

Hell no .. Eldritch gave a dark mystic sense to the song, matching perfectly to the lyrics.

I agree, hussey is a better singer, ofc a less original one tho.

Wayne Hussey did write it, and later recorded it with The Mission UK. And sang it better. He has a better voice. Not like Eldritch's mumbling, dreary, monotone voice.

Great track. I think that Wayne is more resourceful as a singer than Eldritch, but I also think that Eldritch did a great job here. It is a slightly monotonous voice ,imo; pretty suitable for the type of music they played, though. I don t understand some people being so judgemental about the Split. Both bands are great. I did not like the late Sisters, though.

I am a huge Sisters fan but I agree with many of you that Andrew has many, many issues. However, I 100% agree with Andrew that Wayne's lyrics are just ridiculously stupid and his singing is obnoxious and overly dramatic. He writes good music and is a good guitar player, but he should be a side man not a front man. I love this version, it blends perfectly with the Sisters sound of that era.

Icantdothatrightnow This song is by Hussey. Later on he would revive it for the Mission but this demo version is from when he was still with the Sisters, and Eldritch is having trouble 'convincingly' getting his voice around Wayne's lyrics.

Horrible lyrics. Typical Hussey crap. Nevertheless this is a very interesting version to hear. The Mission in the making. No wonder Eldritch didn't like it.
@IMRavnos16 жыл бұрын
Could not disagree more. I'm a huge Sisters fan but Andrew Eldritch has absolutely no passion in his voice. It's like he is trying to channel Bela Lugosi's ghost. The Mission's version is far superior in my mind.

Nope, there's a bit of overlap there where they both have rights. The Mission played Marian on their last tour. Bit of a Venn diagram intersect around '84/'85, even if some fans of either don't like it.
