Jennifer, you you can measure across your crown piece and multiply by 3.14 and that will gove you the finished size around. Those a beautiful hats, the colors are so bright and cheerful.

Purple is rougher because the red dye molecule in the color is larger than the blue molecule. Because it's larger, it's harsher. Same thing with hair dye. Red color molecule is the largest color molecule, so it takes more effort to get the hair to take up the dye. I really like this hat pattern. It's going to be one of my go-to patterns for my charity hats.

Beautiful hats n mittens. Years and years ago I made abt three blankets using that stitch except in the pattern book they referred to it as the eyelet stitch. The first blanket, I ripped out so many times, I was getting frustrated so I put it away and did something else and picked it up abt a month later. No visuals bcuz there was no KZbin then, the other two went well but now watching you do it, I’ll give it another try since I’ve never attempted the stitch again. Beautiful beanie but a J hook the beanie will be too big for my head I have a small head so I would have to use a smaller hook I have tried a J hook and the beanie was so big so a 5 I use all the time for beanies and they come out the perfect fit for me. If you use this hat as a pot holder, you need to put a small plate or something in the bottom to protect the hat from moisture.

To make the hat smaller, do you do fewer rows at the beginning? No matter whose pattern I use, all hats are too large for both my husband and me. I have used a smaller hook and it does not make much difference.
