Far prefer your method of cutting every stud to length, than banging the wall together on the floor and standing it up. makes a much better job. You work super efficient, stack cutting same length timbers, saves measuring, Glad you showed moving materials, people don't factor that into the time it takes carpenter to do his job. great vid! 👍 👍

I know you say you have tried both methods but using this method you have to pretty much set out your ceiling nogs first then everything you do is off a hop up. Make frames, stand them up, nail them together and plumb them last. You don't need to stand on your hop up til you are fixing your ceiling nogs after the walls are up and plumb, then your uprights set most of the positions of these for you. 35 years experience here, seen everything and tried everything you can think of to be as efficient as possible. Give it another go you will be richer.

Good video. Quick question, I want to lower my first floor ceiling to get extra storage space in the loft but how would I suitably tie the new floor to the roof structure to prevent the roof spreading.

1st fist pas inside a dwelling and you have no ear protection. From a person who is a little deaf due to years of no protection use em, trust me. I don't bother when I'm outside pitching a roof but now inside is a must!!!

Cool vid, overall would you recommend being a carpenter here in the UK?
@mfcman2k74 жыл бұрын
this might seem daft but when you are measuring out your rooms out for studwork how much do you allow off your wall from your plan coz usually all plans are off finished walls because of dot and dab great content keep it coming kidda
@Spetsnaz0o13 жыл бұрын
45mm normally, 15mm adhesive, 15mm plasterboard + skim, then another 15mm for plasterboard and skim on the other wall

The plans on new build sites has before PB & after PB measurements, usually most sites I’ve been on the ‘carpenters measurements’ are in red and are before plasterboard

What screw gun do you use to do the stud work?
@jayroche82823 жыл бұрын
Is a pasload nail gun. I'd suggest getting a dewalt battery gun as you dont need to worry about gas
@rhyslyons833 Жыл бұрын
Don’t get a dewalt gun they are shit, paslode are tried and tested for years, gas costs a little more but a lot of sites supply gas

Yes mate, they use 4x2 to build the walls on that site. It’s usually 3x2 in most sites tho

Would take no more than a day tbh, but each to there own i suppose. Looks like a TW , or persimmons to me . I have to say it is much faster making țhe studs first as I've done it both ways .
