It's pretty annoying when you have only a high-pitched whine and no engine noise at all. All the previous generations are said to be "louder" but none of them have this high-pitched whining that makes you want to kill yourself other than maybe the 767.

Excellent video! Thank you for posting! All other videos of the 787 are just as noisy. I'm assuming it's because the engines and cabin are so quiet, you really hear the high pressure hydraulics and all electric systems! It is a little high pitch, but I don't care! I

The 787 and the A350 are similar because they both have a futuristic design, they both can go far, their variants have similar numbers and they both have good wing flexes

There are many factors involved, one of them is autopilot vs manual, and in the case of manual, whether the pilot tends to overcorrect, another is whether the wind/turbulence is significant which demands that extent of control surfaces movement.
@Ibran878711 жыл бұрын
It's called "flaperon" it works in conjunction with both the flaps and the ailerons. You are right about what it is used for, small corrections.

What's wrong with ambient sound? In fact it IS the sound from the aircraft if you wonder why it is such noisy, it was the noisiest airliner I have been on, and I believe all microphones with whatever settings should be picking this sound up, probably unless you mute it, or the mic is not doing its job. If you disagree, please advice your expertise on which camera comes with a great built-in microphone and what are the name of items to set, and how should they be set.

Wow id like to know what was the approach speed that looked very slow which is impressive for a big plane like that

What was that little thing between the flaps that was moving up and down erratically throughout the video? Surely such apparently random motion of a portion of the wing surface can't serve any purpose.
@aryowidiatmoko10 жыл бұрын
What is the name of the center "flaps-like" part between inner & outer flaps? It extends & retracts together with flaps but it also moves up/down like aileron, and after touchdown it raises like spoilers. Wooow...

Love the sound. But the engines were designed so that it's slightly quieter in the cabin but almost silent when you walk on the streets and see a 787 flying above. Wonderful plane like the 777.

Spoileron is not an aileron/flaperon working as spoiler, but a spoiler working as an aileron (partially) in some circumstances. Google are Wikipedia are at your disposal. "In aeronautics spoilerons are flight control surfaces, specifically spoilers that can be used asymmetrically to achieve the effect of ailerons, i.e. to roll an aircraft by reducing the lift of one wing but unlike ailerons not increasing the lift of the other wing."
@TheAirmanYouTube12 жыл бұрын
Siuoo, is the ambien sound in B787 really that noisy on the ground?
@siuoo11 жыл бұрын
Hi armchair pilot, "small corrections" refers to the actual function with regards to both the video and Dannys998877's question. The aircraft was in final approach, and the small movements keep the aircraft flying on its flight path, against external factors like wind and turbulence which may lead to deviations.
@Ma12345Ho11 жыл бұрын

I think plane noise is quite good though, it drowns out other background noise like people talking or packets opening, which is much more annoying on planes. For example I was sitting on the back of DC-9 last week and the resonant sound of the engines seemed to have put hole back cabin to sleep the .

Sorry my mistake. The 787 has two fuselage-mounted electric motor hydraulic pumps which power the centre hydraulic system. They are on the bottom of the fuselage in the WTB fairing, and can be heard in the cabin when they operate. They make a buzzing noise, which may sound to some like an "electric hum". It wouldn't be constant however, generally only departure and approach.

Just like steering wheel is for steering (obvious), yet driving along straight road you may still turn it slightly left and right (small corrections) to keep the car travelling straight on its lane. You don't answer "why the driver is steering erratically" by saying "steering wheel is a turning device".

And the reason why I use the most basic term, aileron, instead of flaperon or spoileron is that it is easiest to be understood. I once used "spoileron" when I replied other's question with my other video, and some armchair pilots claims there's no such thing as a "spoileron".
@VideoMixMaster5511 жыл бұрын
Think about it!!! Even if those Rolls Royce engines are big and powerful, and the hydraulic system has to be a tight one to make the control surfaces respond as quickly as they do. Who ever shot that video had to have the microphone taped against the window or something with the input volume level to the max. NO AIRLINER IS THAT LOUD IN THE PASSENGER CABIN! Not even over the wings. 'THINK ABOUT IT' P.S. if you ever get the chance, do take a ride on this plane! It's fascinating. TAKE CARE!
