I've been listening to my Sivga Phoenix about a week now and I feel this is an outstanding headphone for $255. Exceptional sound, build, et for the money. I sold my HD 58X on E*bay as I knew I would never enjoy them again; never really did. This review is very accurate. Not sure a balanced cable made a difference here but I just use balanced cables for all of my cans. BTW, the stock cable is nice. As for fit and comfort, there are many complaints about comfort out of the box. Some reviewers and commenters suggest bending, stretching... I found these cans very comfortable as soon as I first put them on and I have been able to listen to music and streaming tv for hours. I wear a medium size hat for reference. Lastly, regarding bass on these cans, when I listened to the soundtrack for the movie Interstellar, the rumble of the sub-bass just put a huge smile on my face; it was deep, clear, balanced, and thus far, not fatiguing. Wonderful all-rounder! Zeos got this right!!! Thanks.

@@misterx3666 For the sheer fun of listening to music, all types of music, the Sigva Phoenix are fantastic. Drop just gave notice that the Focal Elex (finally) shipped and I expect them any day. I expect these will be my flagship cans but they cost $700 (I got the $600 one day price!). I also really enjoy the DT 177x Go from Drop; a different listening experience from the Sivga. To me, the Sivga are better than my AKG 702 (sold), AKG 712 (sold), HE 400i and HD 58X (sold).

These are awesome. Was looking to upgrade from the HD 6xx. Auditioned the Sundara, Ananda, even tried the Arya, HD800s, Focal Clear. All very nice headphones. I can agree with Zeos 1000%. These are a great pair to get into listening to music in a new way for people who haven't gotten into this hobby. Ridiculously easy to drive off of a smartphone. As someone who currently owns the Sivga P-II's, Focal Elegia, Philips SHP9500, these Phoenix hit way above their price range. Put these on a smartphone with nothing else and play the track "Autumn in Ganymede" from the Cowboy Bebop OST and if that beginning bass line does not hook you like it hooked me then I don't know what else would. Just buy them, period.
@Farazao

How does they compare with the Elegia in sound quality? Are they close?
@svmacmanus9832
@svmacmanus9832 4 жыл бұрын
In my opinion I'd say yes in terms of cost to performance. If you have to budget then I'd say get these. If money wasn't an option the get both because they are both great although I think the Elegias benefitted from having around 100 hours of burn in. The Elegia has one noticeable caveat to them, that is they really need to have a good seal on your head or otherwise the sound signature changes drastically and you lose all the bass and i mean LOSE all of it. So if you wear glasses get the Phoenix. The Elegias do need an EQ around 80-120hz depending on your preference and the vocals i find to be more in your face, so when it comes to live music tracks I prefer the Phoenix because you have a nice balance of hearing the instruments being played with the vocals. Detail and Imaging though i have to give to the Elegia hands down. Soundstage id say is a tie for me in general. They both have very good Soundstage. Hope this helped:)

Luv this stuff. I'm looking for some cans with clean BASS. I love 120 Hz to 140 Hz bass to be specific. I got some Sundara's and had to return them. Great detail and great mids, and highs. With EQ I could not get a satisfying Bass out of them. It's like they sent the bass section to the back of the room. I could not live with this. So, wondering if these Sivga Phoenix would re-spark my fire? Also looking at Meze 99 Neo's, maybe comparable. Any suggestions?

validate me senpai 😍 bought these a few weeks ago after seeing the unboxing, loving the look, then finding your amazon review. they sound and look fantastic. i was worried they wouldn't fit because i wear a size xl motorcycle helmet (long oval shape, fwiw) but they're perfect adjusted down a couple mm from max on both sides. i did loosen the clamp and adjust the angle as shown in this video. hooked up to my topping a50/d50s, the sound is exactly what i want for music... slightly warm, nice low end response, good detail and high end but not ear piercing. the only other open backs i have are audio technica ath-ad900x which can be harsh with the highs and lacking in low end. i still do use those for gaming because of the slightly better imaging and wider soundstage, as well as a boom mic after i modded them. but for everything else, phoenix every time. the low end really is something special. i did not expect open backs to come close to how these sound, but here we are. worth every damn penny

They sound great. They have great bass. I was immediately impressed. Instant smile. Onto the negatives. They are actually too efficient IMHO. Need a weak amp or you can overdrive them. They get loud and one click more and they distort. Loud is loud, but they are the first Headphone that can distort in my collection. Would have kept them, but they didn't fit. The cups are too small and pads were on bottom of the ear. Almost on ear - call it semi on ear. Pads were also too thin, but still comfortable. If you lay them next to any headphone they are minature size. Looks wise they appear to made for a kid or small female head. No joke. Like the Martian cartoon character with the minaturizing gun shot them and shrunk them. If they fit you they are gold for the price.

Do you have any impressions of them yet?
@keppes1268
@keppes1268 4 жыл бұрын
@@FrobroX So my first impression after 2-3 hours of listening: Pretty unbalanced. I like v-shaped and warm headphones and don’t need a super neutral or flat headphone, but the sivga is like a rollercoaster. The bass is pretty strong and tight. Definitly tighter than on the x2. The nighthawk has better bass texture and impact. Mids: I also hear the bass bleed into lower mids. The bigger problem are the upper mids. They are too strong. Female vocals are very present and in your face. I find this very fatigueing. This is even more noticeable when you consider the bass bleed in the lower mids. In this regard the phoenix is the opposite of the nighthawk carbon. I miss some vocal presence on the nighthawk (Josh Valour mentioned this in his nighthawk video too). This is the only con with the nighthawks for me. The phoenix has a too pronounced vocal presence. This is more noticible when you take the roll off in treble and the bass bleed in lower mids into consideration. Treble is rolled off. I miss some details and sparkle there. Another reviewer said that due to the rolled off treble, he can listen to this cans for hours, but i don’t think that i share this opinion. Due to the peak in the upper mids these are very fatigueing. Soundstage is very small for open back headphones. It is almost like listening to a closed set. Build quality and look are pretty good. I also like the compact form factor. Pads aren’t very good. I will do some pad rolling. All in all, i won’t keep these headphones. For gaming i would go with the tygr or x2/nighthawk carbon. The nighthawk carbon with microsuede pads has some kind of similar tuning, but beats every single sound category. The X2 has a more muddy texture quality espacially in bass. But the x2 has a much bigger soundstage and a ‘rounder’ sounding. I would prefer the x2 over the phoenix for music and gaming espacially considering the price. Also the tygr is a more natural and relaxed alternative, which i can enjoy for long time periods. Also the tygrs are awesome for gaming due to lazer imaging and big ss. So all in all i miss an outstanding tonal feature, which would make the phoenix special. Also i wouldn’t spend more than 200 euro for the phoenix. I will burn them in in the next days and will try the brainwavez hybrid and the audioquest nighthawk pads, but i don’t think that this will solve all of the tonal problems

@@FrobroX Hey, i do own the tygr, the fidelio x2 and the nighthawk carbon. I sent back the Phoenix today after trying them for 2 weeks. The phoenix has very pronounced or prominent upper mids. So vocals are forward sounding. The mids on the tygr are slightly recessed and the soundstage is much bigger. I don’t think, that vocals are pushed back too far away. It is a question of personal preference and which sound signature you like. For my taste the mids on the phoenix are too much. They are too forward and always in your face. I could hear max 5 songs in a row, because the listening experience was so fatigueing for me. Don’t get me wrong. I like fun headphones, which have elevvated sound areas here and there. But the Phoenix was just too forward sounding. On the other hand vocals on the Nighthawk Carbon (with microsuede pads) are just a little bit too far away for my taste. Josh Valour mentioned the recessed vocal prensence in his nighthawk video, too. That is the only con that i have with the nighthawks carbon. The tygr has a pretty neutral or balanced vocal presence in my opinion. I think, that you maybe just prefer forward mids or vocals. The fidelio x2 has also a pronounced vocal presence, but not to the degree of the phoenix. This is why i prefer the X2 for most music compared to the nhc or the tygr. I think that the nhc beats the fidelio in most sound categories (technically speaking), but i simply like the presentation of vocals more on the x2. I agree with you, that the bass (and general sound) texture on the tygr isn’t really impressive. On a weak amp (in my case the ifi zen) bass distorts on the tygr even more than the bloated bass of the fidelio x2. The tygr needs some power to sound better in my opinion. The tygr sounds much tighter on my geshelli archel 2.5 amp than on the ifi zen. I like the imaging, soundstage, treble and the soft and delicate sound in general on the tygr. I am using these mainly for gaming. Sometimes i am listening music with these, but i prefer the fidelio, the nighthawk and my closed b&o H6 for music. So, if you don’t like the sound signature of the tygr, maybe you should try the fidelio x2hr ( which is about in the same price range). Other midfocused options could be an sennheiser 600 or 650. The nighthawk has about the same bass quantity with protein pads and a little less bass with microsuede pads than the phoenix. The nighthawk has better bass texture and a little bit more subbass. The phoenix has more mid bass. But due to the recessed vocal presence i would doubt that you would like the nhc, if you prefer very present vocals.

Zeos is not a shill. Been watching ZeosPantera for a few years now and he’s just fun entertainment. True enough He likes a lot of products but the most fun reviews are for the products he hates (looking at you sound blaster). Was in the market for an open back for general use in my living room (movies, gaming, music) and saw this review. These fit on my small head perfect without any metal manipulation. They are a lot smaller than I expected which was really nice for keeping the weight down. My ears touch the drivers. Pads are super comfortable. The imaging and “punch” he talks about is apparent right away. the low end make these things so fun to listen to. I finally understand what a V shaped sound signature really sounds like. 10/10 would recommend. Easy to drive - couldn’t have my iPhone on full without making my ears hurt. Plugged them into my JDS labs El II stack and keep it on 1/4 low gain volume. I enjoy the small light 2,5mm cable too. This makes three “audiophile” headphones in my collection. ATH 1000 , ether c flows , and this. All based on zeos recommendation. Audio technicas did a Dan Clark pad swap like he recommended and I use for daily work audio for meetings in combo with a mod mic- fantastic for voice. Ether c flows I use for competitive shooter gaming like rainbow six. And now I have these Phoenix that bring the fun low end out of casual gaming, movies, and music. Grabbed a pair of the hart audio cables too since they have better than basic build quality and are aesthetically nice. Keep the reviews coming and congrats on growing a successful business.

(my first multidriver headphone). - these sivga phoenix headphones may be soon to follow. they look fantastic, and if they sound anything close to what you describe, I think i might have to try them out despite how expensive they are compared to what i'm used to (I've been using sony mdr-v6's for the past 10 years or so.) - I really like your stuff though, I certainly subbed. @@thiscorrosion900 I received them today and I think I have a problem with the included.cable. They sound like they are under water. I attached the Bluetooth hd upgrade cable and they sound like I think they were intended to sound. That sound however has a very v shaped sound signature. Big round punchy bass, No low mids, decent high mids, and boosted trebble. Not what I'm looking for at all. I do find them very comfortable though. I thi k I will be returning these sadly. The lack of low mids is just appauling to me and I feel like I'm missing out on a really important part of the mix. I'm looking for something really balanced if not flat. My not.al listening headphones are sony mdr-v6 and I like them quite a bit but I do wish that they'd resolve more sub bass and not distort as much when I crank them. I thought that with the zs10 pro that separating frequency sets into tuned ba drivers might do the trick, and it does a little but, but the overwhelming bass and lack of low mids just ruin it for me.

@@joshhardin666 That sounds like a spot-on assessment of the ZS10s. I like them, but they might benefit from some serious EQ and taming the highs and lows, without a doubt, and I'm a bass fan saying that. I haven't been 100 per cent in love with many headphones: I love my Hifimans for the sheer detail, not for the bass, I love both of my Sony X10 and XB500s for the fantastic bass and overall performance, bu they're wired only, and I love the two Koss lightweights including the PortaPros I've bought. I also love the VModas I got recently, for on the go they're fantastic, and the bass is tight and tasty, but they're very "laid back" sounding, not really super exciting, but they are good phones for sure. Z's not a shill (that I can discern in all this time), *but* I had these for about 3 weeks and returned them. Fit didn't work for me despite the metal gymnastics. Sound was too closed for an open-back (for me), the soundstage too narrow (barely), and there was a sort of sheen to the lower treble in places that bothered me a little at times (but never a lack of detail). They sounded more like IEMs to me in a strange way, the signature similar to Blon Bl-03s. I liked them a lot but not as much as Z and not enough to keep. I do understand why many people would dig their sound though. I think with different (larger) pads they'd open up to a point I'd really enjoy them, but the fit for me was completely *maxed* and larger pads wouldn't be possible. Very close to a winner for me but not quite.

Right, first impressions of Sigva Phoenix v Sennheiser HD560S. Both sound wonderful and have no noteworthy issues with frequency response, clarity, colouration or 3d soundstage/imaging. The Phoenix is slightly easier to drive (1 notch less on my phone for the same volume) and has more impactful bass and a higher level of detail retrieval and naturalness/realism however the soundstage is narrower and more intimate and in your head than one would expect from an open back headphone (which are typically more speaker-like in that sounds appear to come from a distance). The lack of sound leakage and good level of bass impact/slam makes me wonder whether despite the grille they are in fact closed back or perhaps semi-open. Not fully burnt in but they both sound very good already. Any other aspect anyone wants to know about just reply and I will include in my Amazon review in a few days.

@@ZReviews modi 3 and magni heresy, I was able to tone it down by raising the stream quality on Tidal, but man it was painful even then lol Was the same with the t60rps..was wondering if maybe it was something on my end.

I was getting the same issue, powered off an IFI Zen DAC but I don't think it's the source/power i think they're just very V shaped. Do you happen to be used to mid forward headphones? I was comparing them to the 660s and found myself trying to match the volume of the vocals, which I guess I shouldn't be and realised is why the Phoenix were painful.

@@Vaanfo I have some m570s and this particular pair don't have that issue, I'm strongly considering giving them another shot though. Just a beautiful headphone, and the bass was nice.

With you talking about how easy they are to drive. Would you say they should be fine being driven by an iphone/android?

So what would be a good budget dac/amp for this headphone? I just bought this pair.

Congrats on the move Z. Almost afraid to buy these if I don't pick up the 58x's again... but the will is weak.

Got them before they sold out and lucked out in the head lottery too as these fit perfectly with no adjustment or bending. And... oh, no! My headphones have started forming a wall now...

Hey chat... I have a budget of $3,000 approx. which Headphone & DAC/Amp combo shall I invest in?. Shall I go Electrostatic? Planar? Dynamic drivers?. Looking for an “end game” setup. Suggestions are welcome.
