I've been wearing my SHP9500s every single day for hours since 2016 and they were so incredibly worn out and basically falling apart. So I decided to swap the inner circle part that contains the driver over to my SHP9600 "frame" because I kind of don't like them anyways. Everything fit perfect but the weird thing is, it literally just sounds exactly the same as the 9600 now despite the entire center circle being from the 9500. So I think what gives the 9600 it's more warm relaxed sound is the egg shaped part being a different shape and the pads being a bit deeper. Kind of bizarre to me.

I bought a set of SHP9500's off Newegg a few years ago. They were on a open box sale for $30, and for that price, they were unbeatable. I ended up selling my SHP9500's when they got hard to get. After that, I basically traded up even to a set of X2HR's that I got during a Black Friday sale. The SHP9500's are pretty good for the price ($50-$75), but I definitely recommend the X2HR over the SHP9500.

I own 9500's. I watched tons of reviews before getting them, so I'm sure you were included. I've been enjoying the hell out of them for years. They're so comfy that sometimes I forget I'm wearing them or get a cable snagged and rip them off my head. They still haven't broken yet, but I poke around the internet every once in awhile to see what else is on the market in case I ever need to replace them. Still haven't found anything that comes as highly rated and considering I love these I can't say I'd get anything else for the foreseeable future. Now, onto watch this video and see if the 9600's can compare. EDIT: Okay, so sticking with the 9500's if I have to replace. Most comfortable headphones I've ever worn and love the sound signature. Don't listen to bassy music much and haven't been disappointed yet, even in Cyberpunk which has a fair amount of bass in its soundtrack. Just love these headphones and still impressed years after owning them, and I only paid $42 total!

Just by looking at his first original pair of 9500, you can clearly see that he rarely uses those headphones. There is no way in hell he uses them more than 24 hours a year. I have a pair of 9500 and the earpads become a mess after a couple of months.

He has hundreds of headphones which are far more expensive, why would he use the 9500?

excellent review ordered it after watching. I was thinking of getting the 9500 but based on your description of the bass performance, I think I'll enjoy this better. thanks. it's on sale by the way in my country roughly around 100 USD.

Indeed I got the SHP9500 from this channel plus hearing reviews from other channels and reading more reviews. They were also the most well reviewed open-back headphone in my tiny college budget. Paired with a Fiio E10K I did tweak the sound a little to tame the highs at 5khz and add a little to the low end (only added/subtracted a couple dB at most). Based on the review here, it sounds like the 9500 and 9600 compliment each other and as stated, are not upgrades to each other. Perhaps I would have liked the 9600 stock more for the "relaxed" style of sound. But tweaking the 9500's kept the detail and added the low end I needed.

*raises my hand twice* I got SHP9500's four years ago for my birthday (along with a FiiO E10K), while they're a bit worn, they still work great and I love them dearly!

id recommend looking for other places for headphones reviews btw i used to listen to z but after i got deeper into the audio game i found out how unreliable he can be and just how bad the memes that the 9500's are, they are not "bad" but over hyped and get stomped my porta pros

Hey man thumbs up to you man. Yes i saw your review on the 9500 and bough them loved them , paired them with the vmoda boom mic when i game. My son tried them out and pretty much took over them . I think i will get the 9600 just to have two different sound signatures and see which games match better with the 9500 or 9600. Great song too Queen radio gaga 👍🏽. I really enjoy your reviews you keep it real and tell it exactly how it is. Thanx again man . Wish you nothing but success. 👍🏽

Two hands up here! So thank you for that! I had to actually import them from Amazon US to Ireland but worth it, use them daily for playing on my PS4 Pro and Creative G6.
