A beautiful song that is haunting and very heart touching to me. I heard it on CBC last year when I had to travel to Nova Scotia due to the loss of my father. It gave me great comfort that morning when CBC did a story on Sivu and played this video. It gave me time to contemplate on how he was such a great man and all the good he taught me.
@Mr_Jombles2 жыл бұрын
That's really touching as a reader. I realise that I'm responding to an eight year old comment, but even so, I first heard this song about five years ago and played it to my father at that time when I had to take him to hospital in an ambulance not knowing he'd be gone several weeks later. He, too, was a great man and taught me what a good person truly is and helped me realise how few of them there are. It never does stop hurting, but how lucky to have such a parent. Still miss you Dad.

Lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo… You can end this anytime you want to Just jump out of the window And feel your body break on the ground Or you can come a little closer Come ride my magic carpet And follow stars to Bethlehem You're such a better man than he [x4] We'll find faith in the most magical of places And find home in the smallest of rooms We'll find life in the most barrenness of faces And touch Christ in impending doom Lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo… We can go anywhere you want to I don't really mind But follow the life on the moon A life of pain to do A curse from me to you You're such a better man than he [x4] We'll find faith in the most magical of places And find home in the smallest of rooms We'll find life in the most barrenness of faces And touch Christ in impending doom We're singing Heroes from your harsh dreams Allow me closer Signs from your palms read We're so much colder Ships sail out past the Persian coast To the edge of the world And I've died Lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo… You're such a better man than he [x4]

I find myself visiting this song from time to time. It has layers of meaning to me - it's akin to falling in-love. However, love insofar, that it's a transformative experience. What many people assume is "love" is "lust", the love here is more or less transcendental. Love, at its core, when one finds it, is like seeing a piece of the divine (for those not religious, it's talking about something 'bigger' than yourself). Love is not obsession, or possession. Love is something that transforms one, for the better. Reflected upon you, is all of your potential, even unconsciously from the imago (whether that be your significant other, or a deity/god-like figure). More or less, there's an idealism to the figure (the POV singing the lyrics) - that, despite his loss of hope, there lie the seed of wanting to believe again. Arguably, at its core, as with all art, it's all about individuation (integration of your shadow aspects). The lyrics of sailing to the edge of a coast, is more or less, to me at least, talking about one skirting on the edge of their unconscious - the ocean is a universal symbol of the deepest depths of one's psyche. There within, lies the realm of absolute potential. Limitless.

"You can end this anytime you want to just jump out of the window and feel your body break on the ground or you can come a little closer Come ride my magic carpet and follow stars to Bethlehem" Those words really touch me, considering the dark place I'm in. Thank you Sivu. There is more to be appreciated before I kick the bucket

I can't help but feel moved and awed when watching this. It is a great song on top of the visual mind blow that is the human head! it's staggering to think just how agile and versatile the human tongue is and nearly all of it's intricate movement is done unconsciously.
