The Ghost Town having a kids saloon is amazing. LOL. This really is a different vibe from most Six Flags parks. It is unfortunate that the more unique, historic attractions did not appear to be drawing much of a crowd. I suppose times have changed. But it is still cool to see a lot of classic elements from Storytown, USA still preserved. The Popeye's raft ride at Universal is definitely the best one ever! That is my favorite ride in either Unviersal Orlando park. We just rode the bobsleds at Kings Dominion this weekend when we visited for their Halloween Haunt event. It is sad that there are so few bobsled coasters remaining. I love the Alice in Wonderland walk through. Thanks for sharing Six Flags Great Escape with us!

There was never a train going thru the tunnel to the ghost town. You are mistaken. A lot of the little houses came from the land of makebelieve. And not every little house is not a school house. And not all the houses have been these since the 40’s the park was open in the late 50’s and there was no ghost town then.

The Comet is one of the best out and back coaster you’ll find. I’ve ridden it hundreds of times when we used to get season passes. Again I can answer most of your questions if you have any about the old stuff. Started going when I was 5 yrs old. The train never went through the tunnel up to Ghost Town. Just a walkway. The train used to run out through the outback and the station was next to the flume entrance. A great review. Thanks for posting

Wish I would have had more time to Ride The Comet! Thanks for clarifying about the train ride. The mountain with the tunnel looked very similar to the cave the train went through!

@@RoadsideExplorers Correct. That tunnel for the train went through the mountain for the Desperado but you couldn’t see the log flume from the train. They had some hokey shacks out back and there were some lightning and sound effects in the dark tunnel. As you leave the park up the hill to the right, you will see a flat area where the train used to loop back in. They tore the tracks out a few years ago.

@@RoadsideExplorers i just think it’s great that someone is finally giving the LG area and the Adirondacks some credit and recognition for the role it has played in the entertainment industry. Especially for blue collar families who were the mainstay of the customers. Did you know that Walt Disney came to confer with Charlie Wood in the early ‘50s about ideas for Disneyland? On top of it all it is one of the most beautiful and pristine areas in the entire world without question. Take a boat ride and look at the mansions that were built in early 1900s and you’ll see how it was and is still a destination for the ultra wealthy as well as blue collar families. @@apollomoon1 Lake George and it's history is pretty much everything I adore about American tourist towns. After I did the Long Gone episode, I really wanted to visit and I'm so glad we did! Although I wish the old stuff was still there, I still think much of the soul and charm is still alive with what has survived and I hope everything that is still there makes it for many years to come! We will definitely be back at some point!
