Awesome locations showcasing our beautiful country. Makes me want to jump in the car and do a road trip exploring the towns of north Adelaide and the painted grain silos. Some great finds especially with the six Diesels on the freighter. Very nice.

The second one into this video, of the train going past Mount Lofty railway station, is the station we used to go to to get to Adelaide back in the 70's.. When the STA stopped passenger services, at one point a model train group were using station for a very large model train setup in the main building.. But it seems that it is gone, and the station is now used for holiday/tourist accommodation..

I think the SCT hat broken down and was rescued as the last locos were very silent.

@@MS_Trains thanks! I don’t have any Facebook or ARTC timetable things so I just eyeball it when I think a train might pass so I just guesses that it was broken down or something but now I know! Thanks again. Dude - Planetrainguy

Sort of reminds of the big BNSF grain and freight haulers up on the Montana highline.

Are there any hobos in Australia? Looks like grain cars there don’t have any hiding places in them. Double stacks look the same as ours, though. Great videos!
@alans98063 жыл бұрын
Grain trains no - but where they run nobody would want to stow on them. Container trains as run between capital cities have plenty of hiding places and have the odd stowaway, especially during Covid. You'd cook on a 40 C day though

that was fun to watch. especially the lizard in the foreground at 7:29 to 7:41. is the grain part of the eyre lines closing down because of cumulative excessive maintenance costs or because of the monopoly holder's greed causing the grain companies to choose the truck option?
@wombatwal205 жыл бұрын
If a trucking company can transport grain at a cheaper rate per tonne then the transport company is not covering the road maintenance cost as is covered by rail based transport. And there lies the corruption of the transport costs.
@wombatwal205 жыл бұрын
Would suggest the empty grain at Tooligie would be the equivalent of 120 double trailer loads.

@@MS_Trains, i recently told a story on another clip of how brookfield/arc shut the entire ng network of wa down under the excuse of a few local speed restrictions. this was commonly accepted as an intentional demonstration of arrogance towards cbh the grain handler. it happened about 8 years ago, i think. this bull shit is still not resolved and both sides of government have sat on their hands. your story sounds the same. you can't trust a large company with a monopoly. because these road trains damage the roads in wa as well as sa and other states, there should be a road damage tax. fuel tax from all road users shouldn't be used to cover these localized problems. i saw some figures somewhere that rail only gets 6% of the money back that rail companies paid in fuel tax. i'm preaching to the converted.
