Bradley is a punk, but man baseball umps are just so eager to toss people. They take a lot of shit too, but I just don't understand tossing him for dropping his bat.
@chris73941238 жыл бұрын
+Drew Johnson I umpire high school baseball, and I can tell you that umpires as a whole, especially MLB umpires, don't like ejecting people. Whenever I have to eject someone (which is not often), it means that I could have done something better (either I missed a call, or I failed to diffuse a situation). It's not that MLB umpires like to eject people, it's that they have to maintain control of a game with 50 testosterone fueled world class athletes, and managers who's future employment depends on their team winning. It's more difficult than it sounds. Players and managers at that level know what will get them ejected (including showing the umpire up by leaving the bat at home plate), so most of the time, the EJ is really on them.
@17Helton8 жыл бұрын
+chris7394123 I'd like to add also that we don't know the history behind any given situation or what may have been said by MB as he was dropping the bat. If Rod Carew dropped the bat like that the umpire would have picked it up for him (respect). Umpires as a whole seem to hunch a bit after tossing a player....(except Balking Bob Davidson he loves it!) They know the creed--fans don't spent $100 to watch the "Blue."
