I paddled under 5 bridges including Highway 6 (Caledonia Bypass), CN Hagersville Subdivision, the historic Argyle St Bridge, Haldimand Rd 9 in York, and the Canada Southern Railway bridge. I also portaged around the Caledonia Dam and went for a walk in Caledonia to stop at their Food Basics grocery store. At lunchtime I stopped in York and visited the General Store. The municipalities I paddled through include Six Nations of the Grand River, Brant County, and Haldimand County.

Nice views of the area. Thank you for that. Caledonia is a nice place. I hope you’ll return and also visit Cayuga once more.

Great video Christopher! Looks like it was a really nice day on the river. I laughed when you found out that those coyotes were statues lol! That looks like quite the storm at the end of the video. Your tent seemed to be holding up good though in the wind.

Thanks! haha I had actually considered cutting the coyote part out of the video. That's definitely the worst storm I've ever camped through. The old tent I used to use on bike tours would have certainly been wet on the inside, but my newer tent handled it like a champ!

@@cjhoyle That's great! And no, I'm glad you left the coyote part in! It was funny and I would have thought the same thing! Actually several years ago we were driving along a highway in Northern Ontario and I saw what actually was a coyote or wolf standing on top of a rock cut beside the highway! It was a real one though but sure made me wonder for a moment if it was real or not. I did an 85 km bike ride last week and am going to make a KZbin video about it. There was a very funny thing that happened when I drove through a park not knowing that there was goose poop all over the grass lol, and I decided I want to include it in the video because it's so funny! I now have two different KZbin videos that I plan on making soon, the overnight bike trip and the 85 km ride. Lots of work to do! Do you have any biek trips planned in the near future?

@@adventureswithjosie I saw your 85km ride on Strava, and I'm glad to hear there will be a KZbin video for that adventure too! Though you should have included "Spoiler alert" in your comment so the goose poop part would have come as a surprise when I eventually get to see it lol :P

@@cjhoyle Haha yes I guess I shouldn't have mentioned that spoiler, although it doesn't completely give away what happened. I didn't have my GoPro on during the entire ride, as I would have run out of batteries, so I am glad that I had it turned on during this funny incident! I am hoping to start filming a lot more fo my bike rides and other little adventures from now on. After trying to film more during the overnight bike trip, I found that it wasn't too bad. Now I just have to find time to put these videos together for KZbin lol!

Did your tent resist the pouring rain and secure you and the stuff inside dry at the end of the rain?
@cjhoyle

That was the worst storm I've ever camped through, but my tent survived it like a champ. I think there was a small amount of moisture the carried by the wind to the inside of the tent, but thankfully when the storm hit, I hadn't unpacked anything yet from my dry sack, so my spare clothes and sleeping bag stayed perfectly dry.

All the campgrounds that I stayed at had flush toilets. Recognizing that I wouldn't have access to a toilet more several hours in the middle of the day, I simply planned ahead.

I wonder why cargo trains such as CN, CP ALSO CSX go much slower than passenger trains such as GO TRAINS, VIA TRAINS ALSO AMTRAK!. Also I wonder if Caledonia Ontario will change old railway bridge beside of portage to new one which they should for the safety right?! Also is Canadian trunk railway is still operated or sadly has been CEASED AND DYSFUNCTIONAL due to company shut it off DUE TO BANKRUPT or federal government shut it off just like AVRO CANADA!.

Cargo trains are much heavier than passenger trains. That's why they go slower.
@cjhoyle
@cjhoyle 2 жыл бұрын
I'm certainly not a railway expert, but I believe freight trains in Canada travel at basically the same speed at passenger trains. Considering they share some of the same tracks, it wouldn't work well if they traveled at different speeds. This particular train was traveling surprisingly slow which is why I questioned the speed. Since making this video I've noticed that the tracks leading to the bridge take a pretty sharp 90 degree turn which could also be factor.
