Yeah I caught that comment too. I am 85 and I heard that expression often in my day, but no longer. I watched the movie all the way through and just hard to laugh. I was poor and rarely got to go to the movie back then. My dad was an alcoholic back then and us kids ended up in a state home, where people took us in for the money.

Warner Richmond, ACE, played a bad guy in so many westerns. Died in 1948 or may have made more movies. He was an excellent horseman.

About the hats: Actually, the big ones worn in the 30s western films are more authentic than the smaller ones later worn by Rex Allen, Wild Bill Elliott , Tim Holt and others in the late 40s and early 50s. Just look at photos of real cowboys of the early days. The fancy shirts and pants began with Tom Mix who mainly made silents. It's a shame that Ken Maynard had such a short fuse and eventually succumbed to alcoholism which is what finally killed him while he was living in poverty. For more information about him and his contemporaries, or any western star, just search their names online. Though he wasn't a "singing cowboy" like Autry and Rogers, he was one of the first, if not the first, western actor to sing with a guitar onscreen.. I can't recall which one it is.

A good classic film, one that I have never seen prior to today! One suggestion, though. When recording the into and exit pieces, try to get rid of the "talking out of a barrel" sound. It is kind of, annoying, and can be easily remedied.

Howdy David. The Pistol is a single action Colt 45 with a 5 1/2 inch barrel. Colt made this one specifically for me to carry in our Sundown western series several years ago.

Here's what's incredibly weird about this cowboy movie starring Ken Maynard. How in the hell is the bank's front door not locked? What century were they living in? Both the robber and Ken Maynard, playing the sheriff, are able to simply walk in the front door of the bank after dark and it wasn't locked. Even in the Old West that wouldn't happen and I have never seen it happen in any other western. The bank is where you would definitely make sure the front and back doors were locked. Additionally, why did the sheriff, played by Maynard, have a key to the bank safe? It is plot holes like this that relegated movies like this into the sub-B category since these glaring stupid mistakes make the entire movie implausible. StocktonRob
