According to historian Timothy Snyder the transition from a democracy to a dictatorship often follows a fixed model or step-by-step plan. Geert Mak sees that the Hungary of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his Fidesz party have already taken the first steps of that model.

Last year Romania had economic growth of 40 billion euros the second largest economic growth in Eastern Europe, as Poland had an economic growth of 48 billion euros! But Hungary's economy is also growing, growing, but slowly as far as I know last year Hungary has had an increase of 13 billion euros! This year 2021 the European Commission said that Romania would have the largest economic growth in the EU with 7.4%

As a Hungarian I can honestly say this is a typical anti-Hungarian propaganda lie. The roots of West's Hungarophobia lies in their perpetual anti-Christian hate and their guilt of their own colonial history where all whites are collectively held responsible and shamed. Hungarians don't have white guilt because they don't have colonial past. Hungarians don't have problem being Hungarian. They also have no problem being Christian. Don't have the need to fuse or replace their culture with Islamic or progressive leftist culture. They lived under Islamic imperialism for almost 200 years and they have no illusion about Islam. They lived under fascist regime and German Nazi occupation so they have no illusion about National Socialism either. Nice propaganda 'documentary', if you can name it a documentary. First of all, this is not a documentary. In a documentary your put to view both sides of the coin and not speak only from a communism/dictatorship point of view. Secondly, it's funny how some of you here talk about the fact that Orban bought the media. Ugh, no, he didn't. There are actually more than enough independent newspapers in Hungary. The problem is - no one reads them. Why? Because they suck and because they are always trying to make something big about something that is actually not. You can find these things publicly on the web if you know how to search. The situation in Hungary is pretty simple. Simpler than you might think. After Orban took over in 2010 as a conservative party, he began cleaning out the Parliament and making and implementing a plan that would make Hungary grow as a country. Not only from an economy point of view, but also from a citizen point of view. He created more jobs, he offered support for families and he improved the country's infrastructure - built many highways, rehabilitated roads and created new roads for a more prosperous economy. The problem began when Hungary really started to grow - that's when the EU came in and said - wait a minute, what are you doing? You are growing without our help - how do you do it? They didn't like the fact that Hungary was growing so they started coming in with different bills that directly attacked Hungary's most profitable activities such as the commercialization of honey. The EU basically came with a law that would say that countries are not allowed to grow a specific kind of tree out of which you can make honey. Ironically that was a huge blow to the Hungarian economy, but due to the pressure made by Orban, the bill didn't pass. Another problem the Hungary had and has is the fact that Hungary doesn't request money from the EU. They basically said that they don't need the money that they are eligible for because they simply don't need it. Of course this bothered the EU again and another scandal came into place. Hungary has a strong economy and is constantly growing. The fact that the EU can't control such a country, is kind of a big problem. Of course, let's not forget the Soros situation where he absolutely funds everything that puts Hungary into a bad spotlight or that affects the country. About that bought/free media. What about the Unites States of America? Yes, I'm talking about CNN and their pro Biden business model. Also, let's face the truth here - there wasn't one single TV group that supported Trump. Even though FOX was on the verge of supporting him, 2-3 months before the elections they basically started to support Biden. So please, Americans, don't come here and bloat about your democracy. Fix your weapon attacks first and all the problems that you have and then come here and talk about democracy.

My parents fled Hungary in 56 cause they were Freedom Fighters and were being hunted down by the Communist Russians .Every Hungarian I know her in the US and in Hungary love Orban.
