Do you have any of these mods on your tent? Which is your favorite? Tell me which mods I am missing.

Great mods. I really like the zipper line to pull the mesh inward a bit. I replaced the fabric toggle and loop with Zpacks magnet toggle and it’s so much easier to close especially when your hands are cold. That is a 4g increase per toggle. I replaced the 2mm line with 1.3mm line and saved about 1.2 ounces also.

The magnet setup is definitely better than the classic toggle. I wish all of my toggles were magnet-based. The 1.3mm line should be fine. I do end up having to replace 1 or 2 of my guy lines per year due to the lines getting cut up from attaching to sharp rocks in the Sierra. Ive never had one actually fail in the field, but a few have been visually looking pretty close to failure. I'd imagine that the 1.3mm line is just not going to last as long before needing replacement. But if you rarely attach to sharp rocks then its not really a concern. Or if you carry 1.3mm line for a clothes-line like me, then you could just swap a line in the field if that ever happened. :) Happy trails. Thanks for watching!

I especially like your 1st hack to use longer line for the center stakes--seems so obvious after you said it. I did a mod to my duplex to make the doors only come about halfway down, to maintain airflow and views even if it is raining hard.

Thanks for your comment. 👋 Your door hack sounds cool! I always try to set up somewhere with a view, and being able to see that view from inside my tent is hugely important to me as well. 😃

Genius! Love all the modifications. Going to get started on a few this weekend. Thanks for sharing. Forest of Nisene is a nice little hidden gem. 👍

Awesome! Thanks for your comment. I'm glad you found these useful. :) my channel is a "regular" at Nisene. with the weather improving, it is becoming harder to find quiet time there to shoot my vids. Sometimes get weird looks and questions from people curious why someone has a tent setup in a park that doesnt allow camping 🤣 😃

Thank you for sharing well thought out hacks for the Duplex. I do not have one yet. But your 10 minute video makes me want to pull the trigger and get one. Thanks again, be safe.

I do have the cups and the carbon fiber poles but I was only using the one tie out point. I like the way you did yours and I will give it a try. I will also add that shock cord you used to pull the doors up a bit. I did purchase that little mesh bag from Zpacks that you string across the inside. It works but I think just a piece of cord would work just as well. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge. Take care

Good tips, which can be incorporated into any tent

Definitely going to incorporate tip #6. I also added Velcro to my doors for extra closure or to keep the door closed without using the toggle closure. Much quicker in and out, especially to go pee at 2am.

Hey can you make a video on how to change the strings and how you set up the double hooks apparatus on the duplex please. And love the videos man

Take a peak at this video if you haven't yet. It may answer some... kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2Klh5qMo5mWhtk Basically you can remove the existing line and then cut a new line which is about 3ft longer (round up to the next foot, the added weight is trivial). Tie a slip knot at the end and put the line back into the line-lock and put a knot in it. For the peak line its kinda tricky. Figure out where the existing knot is in relation to both ends, your goal is to get the slip knot in the same proximity. A double hook is then attached to this line. I recall having to retie the slip knot at least twice before i was happy it. Then there is another 3.5ft line with a double hook that is looped into the slip knot. Its on in a way that I can unloop it and use that line staked out to a different spot. I am currently on vacation and wont be able to get a more detailed video for some time. I will see what I can do. Wish I could go full-time KZbinr and get more videos out faster! Thanks for watching 👋

I bought a used Solo Plex. Planning magnetic flap closures, loops for a clothes line inside and loop for carbon fiber pole on the bathtub to keep that a little taut. I don't want to get too crazy, just trying to keep the grams as low as possible.

@MountainsCallingMe

The new Zpacks Offset Duo includes the pole cup and tiny pole for one side wall! However its only attached further down the wall and to a single anchor point. My way of using both anchor points with the extra line lifts the wall more. And my feeling is, if you're gonna do it for one wall, you might as well do both. Thanks for your comment! 🫡 😃
