Thank you so much! I love my hibiscus and my hydrangeas. I’ve been working so hard this spring on clean up. I just finished cutting back my hibiscus around my fire pit. I’m a looking forward and am so very excited to see my newer hibiscus and hydrangeas flourish this year. I also have some amazing new perennials that I planted last fall that are going to be beautiful. I look forward to sharing my garden with everyone. Thank you for watching my video.

Hi Heather, your garden is heaven. I don't have much luck with Summerific hibiscus. I have 8 in total. They're in their 2nd year. Only 2 grew to full size. 1 of my candy crush died, and 1 is only 15 cm tall. The rest is way smaller than their actual size.
@heathersmichigangarden11 ай бұрын
Are they in full sun and getting enough water? The first year mine were much smaller. Give them another year. You can also use a Rose fertilizer on them and you can treat them for bugs if you see holes in their leaves. I wouldn’t give up on them yet! ❤️

You're hibiscus are gorgeous! Where I live, there is a huge problem with Japanese beetles , so I tried *everything, and what worked best for me was a systematic spray. I sprayed only ONCE FOR THE SUMMER.. Now.. I know a lot of people don't like to use the sprays, but I had ZERO issues with The Beatles, or any other bugs for that matter. I have Nice, healthy flowers, so it all depends on your own preference ,but i'd rather have my flowers Bloom beautifully than to be ravaged and Eaten up by beetles and Other pest

Hi Heather! You have such a beautiful garden! I was watching the Y Garden channel and it looks like saw fly might be eating your leaves. But I’m not sure. She said not to use neem oil! Just wanted to share that.

Hi,I love your garden. Am thinking about putting hibiscus in my garden. It really helps to see just how big they get. Do you cut them back in the fall? Are these plants just growing natural? Can hibiscus be planted in part shade? About 5hrs Sun. Thanks for sharing.
@heathersmichigangarden11 ай бұрын
I cut them back in the spring about 3-6 inches from the ground. They don’t come back up until June. One of the last to come up but they grow really fast. Yes they are growing natural, after that cut back this is their full growth for the summer. They are sun and water loving plants. My hibiscus in my front yard only gets a few hours of morning sun but still blooms. By noon, it’s in shade. I think 5 hours it will still bloom beautifully. You could experiment with one. I plant the Proven winners and there are many different colors. Experiment and enjoy!

Beautiful garden! May I ask, are your hibiscus on drip irrigation?
@heathersmichigangarden3 күн бұрын
No. I don’t have any drip irrigation. 😀. Mother Nature and an occasional sprinkler, if it’s really dry, like last year.

What do you do with a freeze? My 2 hibiscus died last year. They were in pots.
@heathersmichigangarden2 ай бұрын
My hibiscus are the hardy variety and planted in the ground. You would need a pretty big container. Also if the container is plastic, the roots would probably freeze. You need to make sure you buy a freeze free container. A thick container to protect the roots.
@heathersmichigangarden2 ай бұрын
You need to purchase a frost free container. Make sure you have the hardy hibiscus. You would also need a pretty big container. Having said that, I’ve only planted mine in the ground.❤️

@@heathersmichigangarden Thank you for responding. Would a Cajun Hibiscus 🌺 🤔 be hardy?
@heathersmichigangarden2 ай бұрын
There are tropical hibiscus and Hardy Hibiscus. When you purchase a hibiscus, pay close attention to the hardiness zone on the tag. The Cajun Hibiscus, or Hibiscus™ Bienvenue Hibiscus, is hardy in zones 9-11 and can grow 2-4 ft tall and 3 ft wide. It does well in full to part sun and well-drained soil, and can be used in containers. This plant is known for its tropical presence You can look up what zone you are in. A zone 9 would not be hardy in Michigan zone 6 or below for sure.
@lilbookarina897 күн бұрын
Can we grow these in containers?
@heathersmichigangarden7 күн бұрын
You can but the root ball gets pretty wide so it would have to be a pretty big container and they require quite a bit of water. If you are in a climate where it freezes, the type of container matters, so do your research on that. I hope this helps.
