God forgives and saves "ungodly sinners" but he does not LEAVE them that way ! Truly "born again" believers become "new creatures" in Christ Jesus who begin to love and obey God as their "heavenly Father". This is the work of God in the soul. It is the "POWER of God unto salvation." Christians should believe that God will do this in them as much as they have believed to be forgiven of sin. God is going to remove all sin from his presence and create "new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth RIGHTEOUSNESS". (2 Pet. 3:13) This is the result of the New Covenant: "Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I CLEANSE you. A NEW HEART also will I give you, and a NEW SPIRIT will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put MY SPIRIT within you, and CAUSE YOU to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. " Ezek 36: 25-27

Repentance means to change your mind. The word used in greek was metanoeō. What they were repenting of is a different topic all together. To repent is to go from unbelief in Jesus and the Gospel -> to believing in Jesus and the Gospel. From the deeds of the world -> to the deeds of righteousness through the power of the Holy Spirit. No matter how much “turning” you do in your own strength, it will not make you righteous because you have already transgressed God’s Law. We are only made righteous through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His righteousness is what saves us; not our works, not our “turning”, not our self righteous religious performances. It is the gift of God, not of our works, lest any man should boast. Our works(our own righteousness) are as filthy rags to God. When we trust in Jesus, His righteousness is imputed to us. Yes, we are called to live a life pleasing to the Lord and not like the rest of the world, however, that doesn’t mean we are perfect or incapable of sinning. We sin literally every day in thought, deed and action. I’m not sure if this was meant as a rebuke to people living in disobedience or as a form of correction, but i don’t feel “conviction” from this. It comes off as fear mongering.

Would you like me to be like this silly old guy, spending every moment of his one and only life trembling at the thought of passing away? why would anybody want to have anything to do with God? He's an old fuddy duddy wet blanket, stuck in the mud who wants to take all the fun out of your life. Going to church and listening to those boring old stories about what some Arabs did in the old days is the biggest waste of time in the world, nobody believes those stupid stories anyway. In modern times we have far more interesting things to do on Sunday, the internet is the most wonderful way to find out about the world, we can see anything we want and the oldies can't stop us, there are parties where we can get all sorts of stuff and we can dance all day, we aren't interested in old Arab stories and lies about an old guy who was hung on a cross, our life is about fun, fashion, music and adventure and not about wasting our lives praying and doing what we're told in case a guy in the sky is watching us and making us feel guilty, this is our life and we don't feel guilty about anything. @@DS-uo5ie
