As a Scotland fan who was at this game, I have absolutely no Ill feelings about losing to Wales! Win or lose, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dull game between these two sides. Absolutely love this fixture! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I 'm pretty sure Scotland finished the game with 12 on the pitch. Crazy game.

Incredible game and have to feel for Scotland, they were the better team until they imploded under pressure in the last 10. Looking back, that Scotland team was genuinely good and probably deserved to get better results against top tier nations. They had a quality pack with Grey the athletic star lock, Hamilton the hard man, Ford a quality hooker, Murray one of the best scrummagers in the world at the time, Dickinson and an elite back row with Barclay, Beattie and Brown. Top that with a world class goal kicker in Patterson, solid nines in Cusiter and Blair and some flair players like Lamont and the Evans brothers out wide. They just needed a bit more attacking penetration, better centre pairings and a quality fly half - no disrespect to Dan Parks who had a good game here. Also hilarious to see James Hook and Jamie Roberts as the Welsh centre partnership. I loved Hook at the time but he gets so much wrong here, always going for glory and trying to pull off the impossible when a simple ball outside or tactical kick would do the job. Roberts looks so much better just doing what he does best, a big, fast, physical presence in midfield. Nice to see Halfpenny as a young pacey winger as well - who'd have though he'd go on to be a defensive-minded points machine? Top upload.

How was Richie Rees not sent off for that stamp on the Scotland 9?

The ref's cadence seems to big a problem. I've never heard someone say a word so quickly after saying the word 'pause'. Almost like pausengage is a new word

Scotland won one game with this ref vs Canada in his international debut. You could pretty much guarantee a scotland loss with an irish ref throughout the 90s and 2000s.

Stopped watching when Wales got a penalty for stamping on Cusiter's hand 2nd half after Wales won a penalty for Jim Hamilton stepping on Adam Jones 1st half. Clancy was an absolute joke.

@@The_Affable_Grump One referee being shite on his own is not a conspiracy. A trend for referees of one nation to interpret the laws in a way that does not suit another team because the referees in their country interpret them differently is not a conspiracy. You jumping to "conspiracy" points to a higher likelihood of low experience of the game. It is obvious that players and coaches have by far the greatest influence on the outcome of the game but to fail to recognise that officials have the power to drastically intervene either by error or by being really good is ignorant in the extreme. This and others such as the world cup semi-final vs Australia being examples, Wales could point to the game with 9 min of extra time vs France a few years ago. This is still not a conspiracy. Understanding that pundits from one country talking about penalties by their team as errors but the opposition are cynical while pundits from another country just critique their own team constantly has an effect on how those teams are perceived in general and therefore by referees is not a conspiracy. However, it is a wider understanding of the fact that outside influences other than the actions of players impact a game of rugby. Only an inexperienced, naive person would think it's just about the professionalism, effort, ability, skill on the day. That would be thinking current events exist outside of the rest of society, culture and history.
