I don’t think that’s the worst trade ever. Jimmy is old and he wants a 35% max deal going out to his age 38 season. He’s gonna give you like 60g/yr, and you don’t know if he’ll be healthy in the playoffs. Ben Simmons is just expiring salary, DFS is prolly worth an ok 1st, Sharpe is a promising C they could prolly flip for value if they didn’t want to keep him. They would definitely want at least one or two more assets, but it wasn’t crazy far off and 2K is weird. Like Ben Simmons had 2* of value lmao. So maybe on top of that PHX 2027 unprotected, if they got another pick or two with great upside I think that’d be okay if Jimmy really wanted demanded an extension that’d pay him like 2/125-130M for age 37-38 seasons his market wouldn’t be huge. PHX 2027 unprotected has super high upside, then instead of the swap maybe you ask for best of PHX/BKN ‘29 unprotected which is a great pick, and possibly a swap in like 2030 or something? They’d get off of most of Jimmy’s money in a year w Simmons expiring, DFS would be a helpful 3&D F, Sharpe is cool. They could go flip Ben + those two picks from Brooklyn + the best of their own and BKN’s pick in 2030 (and they could toss in more if needed) and that’d be a package that could get them a REALLY good player.

Both teams fans hate it haha. I think it was reasonably fair value for Jimmy, maybe they’d need to throw in like an extra swap or something. But idk why BKN would want Jimmy given his age. But they turned down two huge packages for Mikal so I have no idea what they’re doing. The Jalen Green + their own picks back from HOU deal for Mikal, and the MEM deal for that ‘24 GSW 1st, (it ended up at P14 in this draft) then MEM’s pick in that draft I forget what number it was, prolly mid to late teens, then two distant unprotected picks (like ‘28/‘30 unprotected) so 4 1sts. Then for salary it would’ve been mostly filler, but one young guy I think it was Ziaire Williams? Dillon Brooks actually may have been in that trade too I’m not sure, but it was for sure the 4 1sts and one other player asset. So them turning down those trades makes me think they’re going to try and make some huge swing for a star or close to it. Idk who, maybe they go after Darius Garland? Mitchell is apparently staying and if he stays Rich Paul said DG would want a trade. Like they have Mikal who’s a decent 2nd option or 2B, or an amazing 3rd option. Cam Johnson is a solid wing, DFS solid 3&D F, Cam Thomas is a legit 6th man, if they keep Claxton he’s obviously good, then Schroder is a solid backup PG who can start if someone is hurt. I heard at the deadline they were willing to take DLo as the 3rd team in Dejounte to LAL trade. If I’m BKN I would’ve taken the HOU deal, but now in their spot I’d re sign Claxton…use most of the MLE, and they’d stay under the tax. They have a lot of picks beside not owning their own for a bit, but can still move ‘25 PHX, ‘27 PHX, protected Philly pick that’ll likely convey in 27 or 28, they have some kinda swap in ‘28, then they own DAL ‘29, and PHX ‘29. They owe a swap in ‘25, their pick in ‘26, and another swap in ‘27. So they could move ‘25 PHX, ‘27 PHX, PHI 1st, ‘29 DAL, ‘29 PHX, and their own ‘28 and ‘30 1sts. Then swaps in ‘29, ‘31, and I think ‘28. So 7 1sts and 2-3 swaps. They could make those picks even better by doing like best of PHX/DAL in ‘29 instead of moving both, and that way they could actually move more picks. So they could pick up a very good player while keeping Claxton, Mikal, CamJ, DFS, CamT, maybe Schroder, they could use most of the MLE, etc. Who do you want them to aim for this summer? Seems like Mitchell is off the table, but maybe Garland? I like Simons and he’d seemingly only cost like two 1sts? Maybe Ben + Schroder + 2031 BKN 1st + 2029 best of PHX/BKN 1sts for Jerami Grant and Simons? That’d still leave them with a ton of picks, and they’d have a ridiculously deep team. Simons/Mikal/CamJ/Jerami/Claxton, CamT/DFS/Sharpe/MLE then all of the young guys. They could also flip DFS + Diop + Clowney or Whitehead + picks, or just CamJ + a young guy + picks to go out and get another super good player? I like Simons on BKN in particular because Mikal should be able to make up for his bad defense, and Simons isn’t like Trae young bad…he has a big wingspan and is negative but not a black hole. Having Grant being able to guard like 2-4, Mikal like 1-3, then Claxton and DFS should give them a good defensive floor. If they could get Jerami and Simons, then turn Johnson + w/e young guys needed for salary + picks in to a really good starting SF that could be a legit team. Sorry for the long post. If anyone’s noticed (I doubt it) I’ve been on here at like 2-4AM randomly making long replies, it’s bc I can’t mfing sleep in the hospital and I’m super bored. Heat should not trade Jimmy at all. That team went to the finals without a healthy Herro. If anything you try to leverage Herro for an upgrade like donovan mitchell. I would just run it back and if it doesn't work out you do a sign and trade with jimmy in the 2025 offseason.
