I was an L.A. metal kid in the 80s, played the metal clubs as a shredder with my Charvels, Kramers and ESPs. A lot of my friends owned or coveted BC Rich. In those days they were very high quality, at least as good as Jackson and Core PRS. I'd say things went downhill when they came out with the Gunslinger, not that it was a bad guitar, but it opened the door to them selling lower priced bolt-ons, and then it was just a hop, skip and a jump to producing cheap bolt-ons overseas. The early American made Gunslingers were fine, as were their other superstrats, played in those days by Tony MacAlpine and David Chastain.

@@sixstringtv1 It was a great time to be young. I had a blast. I met a lot of the big shredders of the day and even jammed with Racer X's vocalist Jeff Martin, although he was on drums. Great times. It was very competitive. Everyone wanted to be the big, bad shred king.

I own two late 80's japanese made stIII they are the best guitars I own, alder body, nitro finish, quality goth hardware, Floyd's, and pickups. They play awesome and sound godlike, you can also get the action really low. They used to be great. I also own a 2008 warlock neck through, awesome action (1.5mm and I play aggressively with medium gauge strings) it's was cheap and already modded with a gold EMG pickups and gotoh tuners. It's an amazingly good looking and sound guitars. The new ones are too expensive because they want to get their premium status back. It's a shame but if you look in locals ads you can get these awesome guitars for around 500$ and will kill 1000$ guitars.bc rich has long lost its tracks and the stigmas attached to them is hard for them to erase.

I'm not an American but got my hands on an Gunslinger U.S.A model back in the day. Brilliant quality guitar. Anyone who wants to bash B.C Rich guitars should reserve their judgement until they see some of those mid priced Ibanez. guitars out there. Practically everything became cheap around twenty years ago. Even Boss pedals released around then sounded cheap.

to be fair, even though bolt-on is a solid choice if you like the snappier tone, the reason for their popularity had miles more to do with price than sound. i owned a bc rich assassin neck-thru and loved it to death, probably one of the best playing three guitars i’ve ever had in my hands, pretty much played itself. i remember in the early/mid 2010s they released the ASM pro, a reissue of sorts, but it was short lived. it had crazy specs for the money (original floyd, name-brand pickups, good woods, etc) for under 1000 bucks. it always struck me as nonsense that they would discontinue it, it was probably their best chance at taking over the mid-price market. apparently it just didn’t make sense as a business, at least as long as you can sell those cheap warlocks which are barely playable.

I've been playing a BC Rich Ironbird bass since around 88' and I love it still today. I know that in the late eighties into the nineties they took alot of crap over how complicated the electronics were in some of the high end models ( just take a look at the top Bitchs from then), so I just find it a bit odd hearing that they are not complexed enough now. How times have changed.

That's because it doesn't have a Floyd rose put on too high causing the strings to hover too high over the strings especially with warlocks

When B C Rich first came out they were known for some of the best built guitars out there. There was a store in my hometown called Watermelon Sugar Music that carried Rich guitars. Then they went the cheap route and became junk. Guitar Center came out and made it their goal to drive every music store out of business. Just for that reason I hate GC. They need to die. I refuse to deal with them.

I bought a Platinum Series (Korean-made) Warlock back at a Guitar Center in 2001 when I was an edgy teenager. I had no clue what to look for when buying a guitar - all I cared about was that it looked cool and it was made for metal, and it was cheap enough ($300) that I could buy a gig bag for it the same day (had to get a bass bag because of the headstock). I learned how to play, how to do a proper setup, switch out hardware, and replace electronics.I must have had "beginner's luck", because there really wasn't any quality control issues with it, and I've never had to do any major repairs. It's 2022, and I still love that Warlock. It has the most comfortable neck out of all of my guitars - a very thin D-shape, very similiar to a Wizard III. I wish they still did the super-cheap models for other body shapes like the Eagle.

​@@sixstringtv1Agree 💯 , and B.C.Rich has a waiting list. I even talked to Neal Moser and they can't keep up with the demand even on the Korean models. I also hurd they spared no expense on making these Korean models. I've personally been waiting almost a year for a new Bich ST and if you can find a Bich on reverb ~ Korean or American made in excellent condition, your gonna pay the price and there not a $3 to $ 500 guitar any more..

I'm fortunate to own the original 1984 USA B.C. Rich Stealth. Designed by Rick Derringer. Only 150 built at the custom shop in LA. I bought it in 2004 from the original owner. My friends came over just to see it, as we all are fans of Chuck from Death and knew how rare and cool this guitar is. All the guitarists who played on mine really admire the quality craftsmanship and how versatile it is. It also stays in excellent tune for a very long time. I've played on a few USA Richs from the 80s up to 2010 and they all are absolutely impressive, top notch build quality. In regards to their production models, they've made some bad decisions over the years and quality control sometimes wasn't good. The mid 80s NJ series are great however.

Exactly, I got my nj series Ironbird xmas of 87, it's an 86 black with a kayler flyer(the best trem ever made imo) flat mount with no stupid springs and claw and screws, you just use one Allen key and just righty tighty lefty loosey boom done for the most part. I play bcr exclusively, there's no need to change up, I've tried but always come back to my nj Ironbird. I didn't like the $6k usa handmade dean dimebag razorback as much as my back in the day $500 Ironbird🤷‍♂️

One of the best guitars I've ever owned was a bronze series warlock. Neck/fretwork was immaculate. Only issue I had was staying in tune. That was easily fixed by replacing the tuner pegs with name brand units. I really wish I had never sold it. That BDSM humbucker is very underrated.

The bronze series warlock is awesome especially for the price but in my opinion it needs a pickup upgrade hence why mine is now a single emg 81 with master tone master volume setup

@@kentucky1519 I kid you not, I was given an EMG Select out if an Ibanez and I stuck it in my Warlock. It sounded pretty good. Through a friend's Marshall it would totally nail EVH's "You Really Got Me" razor scratch tone. I was pleased cuz I'm not snobby about pickups and have always liked the Select series humbuckers.

How people view BC Rich is entirely dependent on age. The USA models from the 80s are some of the best guitars of all time. Gunslingers had the gnarliest graphics. It sucks that those kids who were coming of age in the early 00's only had those terrible tribal graphic guitars.

These are all great points, except for the bit about basswood. Basswood is a perfectly fine wood to make electric guitars with. Ken Parker used it to make the Fly Classic - an extremely high end guitar, Tim Henson’s signature Ibanez AZ is made of basswood, many custom, boutique builders use it as well. It is soft, but so is pine, and many builders are now using that as well. Probably not ideal for some forms of metal and careening around the stage with, but not an invalid choice. Leo Fender used alder, not because it had some magical tonewood properties, but because it was cheap, readily available, and workable. Also, there are great guitars being made in Indonesia and China - just like Fender making guitars in Mexico, this is an economic reality, and not an inherent limitation with the correct processes, training, and management. It wasn’t all that long ago that “made in Japan” was an epithet

As an avid fan and collector of 80s Japan made Fenders, I can only confirm your last point, but for the most part, "Made in Indonesia" means "kinda crummy"... Also the thing about basswood wasnt criticising everybody who uses it, but something in your head as a consumer tells you that you want your 1800€ metal shred guitar to be made of higher quality parts than your first 80€ Harley Benton, right?

Basswood is a very lightweight wood. Perfect for guitars that have topwoods like figured maple.

I think what hurt B.C Rich, is like a lot of guitars when Glam Metal went out of style overnight so did they. Suddenly there was a bunch of Indie rock bands playing old Fender Strats and Les Paul's and that was suddenly the "Cool thing". I remember buying a Japanese Rhodes V at the time for almost nothing because no one wanted it. And it was an incredible guitar. They probably saw a massive drop in sales so they started making them cheaper to reach more people. I can't speak for B.C rich, but I bought a new Jackson Rhodes and it was a far cry from the one I had BITD. The quality was awful and it felt cheap.

I have no idea what happened to Jackson either. Last year I spent 1700 bucks on a Jackson Kelly pro series Jeff Loomis model. And then I had to spend another 300 bucks for a proper Floyd set up and filing the frets down. There’s absolutely no reason that guitar should’ve left the factory much less QC in that shape. I work hard for my money, people who want it should do the same.

@@editorrbr2107 I know what you mean. With mine I noticed immediately how shoddy the wiring and pots were compared to the original. The paint also randomly started bubbling and chipping off. So I sold it and never looked back

I spent everything I had on a USA made Warlock in 1989 (made just before class axe took over) when I was 17 in the UK. I'm now 50, and living in the USA and I still have that guitar, and its still my favorite. It plays beautifully, and sounds great distorted which is how its played most of the time and it still looks awesome (its "glitter rock white"). They definitely seemed to go downhill in the 90s, especially the introduction of extremely cheap and poor quality guitars but there are still good ones made well after 1990 and they seem to be turning things around now.

Yup. BC Rich guitars and a Crate halfstack back in 87/88 still have my 86 NJ series Ironbird with a KaylerFlyer usa on it stock for $500 in 87, still the best playing guitar I own. Better than a $6k dimebag usa razorback. Crazy!! Lol

BC Rich still produces stuff that isn't made well. Except the difference is it is 1k+ and has 4+ raised frets that require a fret job immediately. What really gets me is one of these got out from Sweetwater, someone made a video about it saying they were going to take care of it, etc. My question is, who allowed the guitar to leave Sweetwater? So much for their "55-point check." I'm sure a lot of these BC Rich guitars needs fret work after forking over 1k+ for a "radical guitar shape." Silliness.

I agree with you. BC Rich felt like a toy when I grabbed it at the store in the 90s. Also, you’re right about the pick ups. Why not set it up the electronics to use all the features on the fishman pick ups? Great Video!

I have a Korean based rich assassin f6. It is flawless even 15 yrs later. It has aged well and is still a go to for certain gigs. Every bit as good as my MIJ guitars.

I had an emerald green Stealth in the 80s and 90s. It was a stellar guitar, but that was back when they all were made in the USA and it was the original designed Rick Derringer. They came with two DiMarzio X2N humbuckers and a Kahler trem. I miss that guitar. Our studio had a short in the breaker box in the middle of the night and it caught on fire. We lost everything. My Mesa Boogie Mark 3 went up in that fire too. I cried for 3 days over that. The depression lasted years though. Always insure your gear!

@@tonyruiz1976 that was my first kiss show. Yea they were heavy on that tour. Check this out. I e-mail BC Rich about that guitar PS used & they replied back. The guy who replied back, remembers that guitar. He said the made two for PS, cause the 1st one bad gotten stolen, which Paul gotten it back. If you look at that Animalize tour, real close, you can see the difference on them. I believe its the bridge. I still have those emails from that guy. It was just a couple years ago I e-mailed him.

Totally understand. I have a JR.V extreme and it sounds fucking killer. All black, mahogany fret board and body, Diamond inlays, neck through. And through some Mick Thomson black outs in them. Best sounding guitar I’ve had, even before I upgraded it. This dude needs to stick to his Stratocasters

Having worked at small music stores I can’t complain about Guitar center, Guitar Center at least has guitars you can go on and try. Sweetwater and musicians friend have always been priced way lower than Guitar Center. If you run a small music store you have to provide something that Guitar Center and Sweetwater can’t provide. Having employees that actually know something is a start and having a positive attitude will go a long way. As far as BC Rich goes they make good guitars but have just fallen out of fashion.

This was 100% my experience. I bought an amazing Shredzilla Prophecy from the topshelf at guitar center, after almost 10 years off of the guitar due to life's hardships. It played better than any other guitar I ever had played (still top 10% for a shredder). It reignited my passion for guitar and started me back onto the wagon of spending thousands on guitars and gear. It only took a few weeks getting it home untill I realized this guitar had been neglected sitting 30ft. in the air at guitar center in the New Mexico HIGH DESERT. the pull-pots quickly started crackling horrendously. I noticed a hairline crack from the locking nut slot, which has grown more noticeable in the past 2 years. I since have bought 10 newer guitars and every one of my Fenders, Charvels etc. are honestly better playing for 1/3 to half the price of the almost 2 grand I spent on the BC. ABSOLUTE PROS on the BCR: The DiMarzio's are great. The woods, Abalone, frets are flawless. The low end Fenders would 100% play better with a minimal fret dressing (though the frets are still way nicer on the BCR). The newer Fenders are great, Charvels AMAZING. After my first Floyd 1000 Charvel I realized the BC Rich's Floyd 1000 seemed way lower quality, clunky and noisy. Not a problem my 3 Charvels have. The BC is still amazing, I absolutely love the neck through. The really high quality spalted maple over mahogany, amazing GIANT abalone inlays and dark ebony fretboard are all to DIE FOR... I love the guitar, but it's like a trophy wife. I love her to death, but I don't want to put in more work and $ when I've already invested almost $2000. She's a keeper, but rarely sees the light of day. (It is so heavy my sciatica ensures that!)

When I was starting out playing guitar 25 years ago, I wanted a mockingbird more than anything. Hands down a favorite of mine, just thought they were the coolest guitars ever made. I absolutely loved my Mockingbird ST when I finally got to the point in my playing and career where I could justify dropping a grand or better on guitar. It was the best shred guitar I had ever played… until I got my hands a higher end Jackson Warrior. I had played a lot of low or midrange Ibanez or Jackson over the years and they were good but couldn’t beat my Mockingbird. When I got to play a Jackson that was in that same price range, though, it made me see every flaw that B. C. Rich had and every one I’ve tried since. I finally traded that Mockingbird for a new amp and I would love to have one again, if they ever made one that felt like it justified the price. Like you said about that Warlock, it’s not like it’s a bad guitar. It just isn’t nearly as good as it should be for what I’m being asked to pay for it.

That was a lot of the problem with BC Rich guitars, for me. No matter what price point you looked at one, there were always much better guitars in terms of build quality for the same price. I remember here in the UK seeing some BC Rich models for around the £300 mark, looked great, sounded great, but if you picked up a Jackson, Ibanez, Epiphone or a Squier for around the same price they just *felt* better in your hand. And it was the same across all price points, it was so weird.

Ibanez RG 500 series for late '80s-90s were best guitars for money (played by my idols Rocky George, Alex Skolnick and obviously Vai). Owned a couple RGs and eventually was able to afford a JEM which hands down is the best guitar I've ever played.

I have a collection of around 30~35 B.C. Rich Basses, everything from early 1980's to mid 2000's in USA's, NJ's, Platinum Series. I can find something great to say about all of them, however when Class Axe took over in the late 80's that's where the problems started. I do have to say i have played alot of the newer stuff but don't own any at the moment. The newer stuff holds up against the 80's stuff pretty god damn well

It’s my all time favorite guitar and I’m devastated to get anything similar it’s 2K and at the price point it’s not worth it for mid range gear . I hope one day bc rich gets it together for all the metal heads that love the look but want quality .

🦆 I’m new to guitar only going on my 3rd month of playing .. I’m not looking to be Rolling Stones 100 best guitarist, not starting a band or Playing live gigs. I’m playing and want to get better just for me 😅 I love it it’s a fun hobby and every time I learn something I feel so proud of myself I like to play live music but only for me anyways I’m getting off my point here and that is that bc rich is a great guitar in my opinion, I don’t have any issues with it and it’ sounds good. I could understand and have looked into why someone would prefer a $20,000 guitar vs $300 or even $200 dollar one but to my fellow beginners use what you have if you want to upgrade then do that to ANY GUITAR sounds amazing if YOU play amazing. don’t worry about the $ because I’m having a blast playing my bc rich I got for $160 and a squire acoustic I got for $74. GET what you like get what you feel comfortable with and most importantly don’t forget to just have fun. 🦔⛄️⭐️🍕

I've owned several riches over the years, now having a "cheap" bc rich outlaw px3t, original FR, amazingly confortable neck(with the best fretjob ever on any non japanese or american guitar that I have ever seen) and rockfield pickups(wich are amazing) bc rich has always been a great Brand on their mid to high lines(besided the praxis guitars)

Interesting to hear you talk about BC Rich from the 90s, when the metal identity for them was really set in the 80s. Blackie Lawless from WASP and Lita Ford were in so much of their marketing material back then, and you saw these everywhere on stage. But that identity flame burned so bright that it was almost cliché even by the very beginning of the 90s. Basically, as soon as you could buy one in anything other than solid black, red, or white, it was viewed as part of the whole cheesy hair metal money grab movement (winger, poison, and all that shit). Ibanez stepped into the void this left. But I remember these guitars being considered high quality in the 80s, and kind of hard to come by, since you couldn't buy stuff on the internet yet. And certainly one of the only neck-thru options at the time. Stranger Things nailed it, by picking a black Warlock as THE icon of metal guitars in the 80s. In a combo of black and red (both primary colors available at the time), with a not available then but lava-ish texture to represent the physical environment of the shows landscape.

I bought a Jr V Deluxe brand new from the Guitar Center in Raleigh NC back in 2008. Floyd Rose 1000, EMG 81/85, ebony board and it came with a coffin case for $800. I still kick myself for selling it years later. I had been hospitalized due to burns so I needed the money. It was such a great axe! 🤘🤘🤘

My first electric guitar ever was the lowest end of the lowest end BC Rich Warlocks. Got it for Christmas when I first started playing a guitar. I didn’t want it because of the legacy or the brand or any big name players, I didn’t know any of that lol. I wanted it because I was 14 and it looked fucking badass. It’s kind of a not great guitar build quality wise, but to be fair it plays pretty well. I don’t play it much anymore, but I keep it around just because it’s my first guitar and it’s a decent mod platform.

I have a bc rich warlock I've owned it since 08 I love it but my only complaint is that the nut of the audio jack slips off from time to time other than that it's pretty solid.

Don't just screw it back on from the outside, you'll twist and break the cable on the inside, screw the output jack off, hold the cable and re-attach the nut 😁 I did the wrong thing on my ibanez a few years ago and wondered why it didnt work for like a week 😐

I owe BC Rich a lot for helping me find my love of guitar playing. I have since retired the 2 I played all through college, but without them, I don't know where I would be today. But yes, the quality of these instruments are very subpar. They really are only for show. The 7 string V and the warlock bass I have I modded the crap out of, but once they were rebuilt, they felt very familiar. If the company was not constantly going under just like Dean and they still made decent affordable models, they would be worth sticking with. But, one upside is the true 80s models are super highly collectable and worth a good amount of money if you have any.

The new CEO got 3 friends together in 2020 I believe, and put together a buying group that purchased the brand, and brought them back to their former glory. Neck through body dimarzio or fishman pickups. Top of the line hardware. These are not the cheap warlocks of the 90's or early 2000's geared toward young metal heads. I paid $1500 for it, and it is on par with other high end guitars I own. Don't let the old cheap ones cloud your opinion of the new line. The CEO is a shredder also. Search for BC Rich CEO, and Herman Lee from DragonForce. They do a good vid talking about the new company. I believe the ceo took lessons from Joe Satriani. He can play. My mockingbird is a top of the line axe. I can see they are going to have to work to put that old reputation behind them

I have a really good friend named Paul who still has his Warlock he got back in 1987. He paid $399 which is about $1040 today. He still plays it to this day and is his main concert guitar

B.C. Rich Guitars are good quality instruments. I have 4 Mockingbird STs a Pro X and a mockingbird flux. I want an extream mockingbird with the evertune. Similar spec'd guitars are just better prices. You're right. Also the splatacaster is so dope my best friend growing up had one too and she loved it too.

A local pawn shop has a maroon B.C. Rich with floyd rose and tremolo. It's got jumbo Frets which I really want. Is $400 too much? I tried to get them down to $300. I'm a Jazz/blues player. What do you all think?

Really, when the whole musicians friend catalog and guitar center came around 95% of mom and pop stores in the US were terrible. They had terrible selection, and they had insane prices. These horrible mom and pop stores created an opportunity for a big company to take over. The same thing has happened in a bunch of different industries here, and these horrible shop owners have only themselves to blame. In the small town I live in, in the 90's there was like 5 music stores and every single one of them was horrible. They had terrible selection and the owners/workers were dishonest and just weird and annoying. There's one left, and the owner is a straight up scammer. The only reason he's still around is because he does amp repair. I was glad to see them all go away.

relatable honestly. our one local guitar store sells B stock for more than full retail price (without marking it as B stock, mind you) and sells strings at like a 4€ markup for no reason. all they sell is squier and low end ibanez/warwick too. terrible store

There has been a sea change in my area... Guitar Center has so alienated guitarists here that 2 GREAT mom and pop guitar stores have opened and are thriving. I tried to buy a strap at GC and had to put in 2 hours searching GUITAR CENTER'S own website to get a price and then purchase. Like are you going to give me the free strap for my 2 hours spent selling YOUR PRODUCT TO MYSELF? It was the only one, I really needed it ASAP and there was no tag. The guitar passionate people left GC after Bane Capitol took over, and are now opening their own, REAL guitar stores. Small town life is a bitch though. Sweetwater over GC any day of the week.

I bought a 1977 Aria Pro II Custom Order of a BC Rich Mockingbird Model for £800 over 10 years ago. It is very well made and super high end quality. I was looking for a 70s BCR original model but I read that even the boutique guitars had some quality issues.

Floyd 1000 is just as good as an original, to say it's "low end" is laughable, all of the Floyd 100's I've owned have stayed in tune maybe it's possible it's not set up correctly?

I bought a Chinese made, string thru KKW second hand from a pawn shop a few years ago. The only issue I've run into so far is a dead fret that just recently made itself known. I changed out a bunch of the parts just for personal preference and playability. For instance, the bridge is now a Resomax, the top nut is graphtech, and the pots are from Bournes. If I can get the frets leveled and recrowned, I can go back to playing it regularly. For now, she gathers dust 😢

80s Japanese high end BC Rich NJ guitars still pop up occasionally (mostly Mockingbirds and Warlocks) on the used market in Russia and those are amazing, original Kahlers and Floyd Roses included. Would love to get myself an Ironbird from that era some day. But the modern ones make you think twice. Especially considering that they're always out of stock in stores (and I'm talking even before the war) and you can't even try one out before, say, ordering it from abroad.

I have a '98 rich bich (that's when I bought it, brand new, SN 98022). Sticker price was $1100 at the shop, and was supposed to include a hard shell coffin case that they couldn't provide, so I talked them down to $900. Set neck. Came with Dimarzio pickups, super distortion in the bridge. Grover tuners. Rico head stock. Real mother of pearl. It's fucking beautiful. My favorite guitar. But I also had one of those atrocious Indonesia Warlocks from the "Platinum" series. I gave it away to a friend who had fallen on bad times. I still feel bad about that.

I still have my first guitar which was a bronze series Warlock from lime 2006. Other than the pick ups dying because cheap pick ups suck, it still plays fairly well. A few friends had a Warlock or Mockingbird from the same series and they fell apart. My Warlock is old faithful for me lol I love it.

I have one of those made in Indonesia warlocks from the late nineties and it's my go to axe just ahead of my 87 Charvel. No other one I've played feels anywhere near the same. Swapped out all the electronics, sanded the neck pocket smooth, and played the finish off the neck

I have a B.C. Rich NJ warlock from I think the 2000's or late 90's even maybe, and I play it as my main guitar. Granted I play in a death metal band so I'm not trying to get some amazing lush tone, but I think even one like that is pretty good. I had to replace the horrible stock pickups with Seymour Duncans which was a big improvement. Has an awful liscenced Floyd Rose that made the strings super tight in standard tuning, but now that I tuned it to B standard it feels great. So the cheaper ones can be pretty great too depending on what you are playing IMO

I own 3 BC Rich guitars all left handed. I've had good luck with BC Rich's. One is a 2012 NJ Deluxe Korean Warlock with the cherry burst finish. Bought it as a b stock cause there was nick in the binding for way less than they normally went for. One of the absolute best sounding and playing guitars I own. The other is a 2014 Draco Ghost Flame. Only issue with that one is the subpar pickup it came with. Replaced the cheap SD Invader knockoff with a real one and it plays and sounds just as good as my Warlock. Most recent is a 2020 satin black Ironbird Extreme. It has its quirks but overall a fantastic sounding and playing guitar. biggest advantage it has over the other 2 is natural neck back over a painted one and the fretboard is much more comfortable. I like BC Rich because they're unique in a world full of boring super strats and LPs.

My old band mate had a BC Rich one off custom that the company made him in the 80’s when he let them know an employee was stealing from them. Hell of a guitar too (first known 80’s snakeskin finish). He still has it. I used to borrow an 80’s BC Rich Warlock which I didn’t care for the shape, but again….was a solid instrument. They knew what the hell they were doing. Basswood is a great fine wood, all the 80’s Ibanez guitars used basswood & they make way killer tones

I agree with the price and they don't come with a case. I just picked up that exact guitar off reverb as a b-stock for 1500 USD. Having played it, it's definitely one of my favorites but it should have been closer to 1200 USD without being a b-stock. They're made in the same factory as Schecters and feel very much like a Schecter so they should be priced comparably. Granted the Fishman pickups are probably more expensive than the EMGs or Duncans you typically find in the Schecter guitars. Definitely wouldn't have paid 1800 though... I'd rather save up for a custom Kiesel at that point.

I have an ironbird I got for $400 CAD in 2008, and other than a little fretbuzz, which is recent devlopment, I love that guitar. I have played so many crappy BC Rich guitars in that price range, I am glad I ended up with a decent one.

I have 2 B.C Rich's and I love em, think they are over doing it with the binding of late though, stop binding everything! all I want B.C Rich to do is a black Speed V (which is a standard V shape without the silly bent edges on their other Vs) neck through with a reverse standard B.C Rich headstock, Floyd rose, diamond inlay, ebony fretboard, just black, everything black, simple looking and brutal....without the poxy binding!!!! You think you can do that B.C Rich or is that too much to ask in 30+ years? a basic black V neckthru, reversed headstock, Floyd, diamonds inlays without tacky binding every edge of the guitar! Listen to your customers and you might sell more.

I traded my Steinberger Spirit in the Bay Area for a BC Rich NJ Series made in Japan. It was a P/J bass, and 1986. I played the shit out of that bass and used it on lots of recordings. I LOVED that bass, but lost it to the pawn shop in the late 90's. The stock pickups SUCKED, so I had Gary Brawer replace them with EMG Select pickups and do a set up. It was like a whole new bass, dead silent, killer growl, and the neck was perfect. I had a chance to play the same model years later and wasn't impressed since I had gone onto Peavey Cirrus, but what a great bass when I owned it.

I may get laughed at or hate for it...but I have a late 90s BC Rich warlock & other than needing a better trem system & pickups, has been my main guitar ever since.& it sold for almost $800 back then. Alder body, maple & rosewood neck/fretboard. Still my main guitar to this day. Maybe I got lucky??? I don't know. But I've played many guitars over the years & this is all I want or need.

I have an St Bich from the 2000s and its a fantasitic guitar. But it has an original flyod rose and came with duncan designed pickus and was aound 400 cheaper than the equivalent -- I am allowing for a bit of inflation in that number also.

One of my dream guitar is a mocking bird in white with white pickup, with cloud inlay. The mockingbird shape is so nice looking, it looks futuristic, metal, but classy enough that I wouldn't be surprised if someone played jazz on it. Sadly, BC Rich made some new guitars a few years ago and stopped since, and they are impossible to find. No custom shop offer the shape aswell
