I wish there were teen movies made the way john Hughes made them in today's time. My parents are so nostalgic about the 80's I want to feel that way about today to show my kids how great being a teen today feels like

The 80s is the best there is! No cell phone , no internet, just ride my bike after school to the park and played handball, stickball, touch football in the street. My kids just sits in front of the computer after school till bedtime.

And no Status Anxiety either back in the 80s- just colorful clothes and happier people, what is with everybody wearing black today. My sister and i grew up in the 80s and were never in the house at all, i was born 1975. Now my sis wont let her kids out, because of the millions of cars waiting to run them over, and kidnappers on every corner, we grew up in 80s london a time when ice cream vans actually sold ice cream, oh the media of today have turned good ole London into a shanty town.

I will agree with you as maybe the best of the "crazy high school rom-coms" 😉 the comedy elements here are so beautifully campy and ridiculous... you have to smile. "What are you complaining about? I got a guy sleeping above me named after a duck's dork!". Long Duk Dong. Awesome! "Why are we parked in front of my church?" "YOU own a church?"

You want to know why this music is held in such high regard decades later? It's not entirely nostalgia's fault as nostalgia is simply a byproduct of time passed. The reason is because this music was made with love, and more specifically the notes, the sound quality, and the melody itself is soothing.

The moment where Jake says, "Yeah, you!", that's one of the greatest moments in cinematic history. I don't care if you're male, female, gay, straight or whatever, a piece of you HAS to melt when you says those two words.

Forget that this was a great 80s movie theme song. TT always made awesome music that would outperform today's top music. Music for all time in my book! It was that much sweeter to have lived and experienced this during my teen years. If only this kind of music ruled the airwaves today, America would be such a better place and teens of every generation would live happier.

Why was Jake Ryan so likeable? Because he didn't care about being popular or the looks of a hot girlfriend. He was a guy looking for a soul mate and found it in Sam. I just wonder when he began to put his eyes on her.

The best Thompson Twins song ever! Their stuff from the mid 80's was alright but it was too much pop music oriented and they played it so much on MTV and the radio that I'm fucking sick of "Hold Me Now" even today 30 years later! They regained some of their new wave sound with the late 80's song "King for a Day"... It was less Pop music sounding.... :)
