Is it hard to find long jeans at most stores? I'm 5'1 and most jeans are way too long and it looks like I have flippers on, I feel like you would have the opposite problem plus I would love to listen! 😊

Lovely Pineapple yup the opposite always happens to me. I’m a female and 5’11 and it’s so annoying to try and find jeans. I like real material jeans but the only jeans that fit my length of my legs without being capris length is the stretchy jeggings in the extra long at American eagle. Those are the most budget friendly for me. Also I don’t really like crop tops on me but a lot of my tops tend to look like that on me. And I hate shopping for dresses because they are too short sometimes.

@@lexusfranks8787 6" here and buying jeans, dresses, and skirts are a full on struggle. Some long sleaved shirts and jackets are also tough. Some places are making more tall options but it is really hard. We need a lot more diversity for so many different body types.

For example, I’m starting interviews for medical school and I really need to learn how to dress professionally (as opposed to my yoga pants in undergrad lol). Gina Marie to me, i think "flattering" just means finding ways to wear what you want in ways that look great on your specific body. I don't think it has to do with cookie cutter rules but rather rules for your specific body that make you feel great. 🤷‍♀️

(Sierra’s last video was about wearing clothes curvy women are usually told to avoid - and she rocked it all). “Flattering” doesn’t have to imply certain body types “can’t” wear something, it implies you are dressing to feel confident, pleasing, gratifying, complimentary etc. within your self. Not to please others..This all helps with the “body confident” message! If you feel flattering and confident in anything, you should rock it!

Even though I think women are completely allowed to wear whatever they want with whatever body type they have, as a curvy/plus size girl who struggles to have a personal style because I want something that flatters my body and makes me feel completely confident and comfortable. PLEASE, MORE COMMENTS LIKE THIS so Sierra finally notice them and buy clothes in the right sizes. You are in a store, you could try different sizes and you should do it. Do not force the 12 size. Buying a 14 or 16 size is not sizing up, it is buying the size that fits. This happens to everybody from size 0 to infinite. BTW, everyone sees you are bigger than these sizes you tried and there is no problem in being bigger, that’s BODY POSITIVITY.

Noelia J a lot of time she’s trying on an xl, which is typically the largest size in a lot of these stores. They don’t always have a bigger size to try unless of you order online or go to a store that has a plus size section. Not all stores do. For example, the Forever 21 that was nearest to me only started having a plus size section in store three years ago, before then the only option was online.

Sierra, I really like these kinds of videos but the reviews are so repetitive.... what you say in the fitting room is exactly what you re-iterate in the sit-down portion. Maybe just show a clip what it looks like on in the fitting room and then do a voice over of you talking about it with whomever you're filming with? I think that would be better.

Ok can I just say that I love how body positive you are. I can totally relate to not being happy with my body because of clothing and how I would feel just so defeated after shopping in stores that were not inclusive with sizes or styles for my body and it really damaged my confidence. Watching videos like this remind me that when I am shopping to keep more of a positive attitude and remember that if something doesn’t fit it just isn’t worth getting upset about. I truly believe that your videos have helped me on the journey of loving my body and wearing what I love and ignoring what people think I should or shouldn’t be wearing.KZbin needs more videos like this, to help other people who experience this issue!

Okay, I hate to point this out but I really feel that Sierra is a little off with the sizing. Maybe if she sized up on the jumpsuit, it could have worked. I have noticed this in many videos and I just feel if you tried and sized up, you would look bomb in most of those outfits!

Priyanka Maniar unfortunately though a lot of stores only carry through XL, a lot of the time even a size 12 you are already at the top of their sizing chart if they aren’t a size inclusive store. So maybe she picked the option that she would hoped worked and it didn’t because the stores aren’t considering that people of every size are still shaped differently, their curves might be smaller or bigger and the clothing doesn’t always compensate for that by stopping at a particular size. Sometimes clothing just doesn’t work because of how it’s shaped when it’s made.

Priyanka Maniar that’s the whole point of her videos. She measures as a size 14 but she tries on 14s and they are sized and shaped so inconsistently that you can see it. If she sized up it would look great, but then other things she tried on are way too big.

the dressing room commentary on the item and then the in studio debriefing of it, is very repetitive in these episodes Sierra, video idea: size up in items to fit certain areas and get them tailored to fit in other areas to flatter your body I think some of these items would look considersably better on you using this approach. This would match your "the clothes are the problem" mentality very well.

Hailey Abecassis yep! although I think it applies to just about every size. We all have different proportions among sizes. I think learning how to choose the appropriate size to start from, and then have an eye for what can be tailored, is a really good skill to have when we go shopping -- it doesn't force us to fit/settle into the sizes the store offers and can eliminate a lot of frustration. Yes, it's more expensive that way, but it's better to have fewer items that fit really well, than a closet full of clothes that don't truly fit or that we don't love. 🌸

allison Price I’m 5’10 and have wider hips and bigger boobs. In a normal store I’m a size 6 but when I go to American eagle I’m a size 10. So their sizing is weird and usually I can’t bend over without everything hanging out. But that last issue is probably because I’m all legs and so tall.

American eagle I find to be Inconsistent. I usually am a true 12. There I range anywhere from 10-16. Generally if you can find the correct sizing the cuts are flattering.

Doing this in store is so much better! I know you try to sell these clothes when you're done with them for the videos or return them to lessen the environmental impact, but shipping (particularly return shipping) is a HUGE contributor to emissions resulting from shopping. This just skips all of that, and then you don't have the hassle of figuring out what to do with the clothes when you're done. I know you can't always film in the store, but it's great to do so when you can.

Just a tip: the number sizes (like 31, 32, 33 etc) are based on waist size. So if you have this measurement before you go shopping, it will make things slightly easier!

I was at the mall for 3 hours and came back with 1 pair of jeans because they either didnt have my size in store or they only had clothes that werent my style un my size I hate going clothes shopping because my family is like "oh so you didnt find anything" or they say "maybe you should wear looser clothing instead of trying to find skinny jeans", but i love how I look in a good pair of skinny jeans. So after I go shopping i used to always try to lose as much weight as possible to fit into the 14 or L but ive come to realize with your help that i am not the problem

I have found this channel as my curvy girl handbook!! Because I usually downgrade myself because all my friends look so good compared to me! But thanks to a special someone I have learned to branch out and have more confidence!! And thanks to you and this channel I have found THE handbook for me! I mean yeah, its not me, it's the clothing. Every one has a different body and its not your fault its the clothing because your body is too good for those clothes that didn't fit!

I love Lisa so much! It would be really cool if you did a video like this, in the dressing room at a store like Torrid that caters to plus sized bodies, but with someone who is maybe a couple of sizes up from you, and see how the fit of their clothes varies. Would be interesting as you are probably close to the lowest size they carry.

A strapless bra hack that I swear by: by the bandeau swimsuits from aerie (that come with removable straps) and it doubles as a swim top AND a strapless bra! And they are suuuuuper comfortable. I am a size 32C or bigger and I love this hack. I hope this helps someone!
