From my experience, I have learnt that: 1. In some cases, forgiveness is a daily decision. Msamaha wa jana haukusaidii leo. You have to decide to forgive again today. You do this until the burden is lifted and you heal completely. 2. It is also important to understand your triggers. What is it the reminds you of the offense and brings back the pain. When you figure it out you can then share with your spouse and find a way to avoid them or manage the situation when triggered. 3. Avoid reinjury. When the same offense is repeated it worsens the pain and deepens the wound. 4. Learn when and how to communicate to your spouse in an effective way. Express your needs and help them understand where you're coming from without having an accusatory tone. Don't assume that they should know. Only the wearer of the shoe knows where it pinches. 5. Relinquish control. You can never change or control a person. Trying to micromanage and over investigate is only a disservice to self. It burdens you and takes so much energy. You will live in constant fear, worry and anxiety. Just surrender the issue to God and let Him fight your battle. It is very freeing and liberating when you do. Even when you're not able to trust your spouse, you can still trust God and find peace and rest in him. 6. Focus on yourself. In stead on trying to control what you have no control over, why not focus on what you do have control over, yourself. Practice self care, self evaluate and seek to improve yourself, pursue your life goals and invest in healthy nurturing friendships. You are responsible for your own happiness and healing. You can't delegate that to your spouse. It will become burdensome. As you do that, you will see change even on your spouse. 7. An attitude of gratitude. When you learn to look out for the small things, be grateful for them, and appreciate your spouse. It motivates them to be better.

What you guys are going through is perfectly normal in all young couples. Both of you are still transitioning from single life to married life. D J Mo is yet to fully appreciate the fact that he is no longer the ‘young Kijana chipukizi ‘who’s been used to mingling with mabeshties all the time and is now a married man and a father of two. He’s still finding it difficult to let go of his youthful life and rightfully so because he is still young but it is a high time that he starts to appreciate that he cannot continue to spend a lot of unnecessary time with those mabeshties and cut down significantly the time he spends with them. He may end up messing up his own marriage for the sake of those who undesirables. Put it simply, if Lynette starts conducting herself in the same manner of wanting to spend time unnecessarily with mabeshties, DJ Mo won’t have a home to come back to. DJ Mo, you must consciously start to transition from life ya ma- youth to settling down. Be home early whenever possible, spend more if not most of your free time with family and the nagging and insecurity will significantly stop. On your part Lynette, just go on auto-pilot, stop nagging him and allow him space to transition because men take a little longer than women to settle down after marriage. Never entertain the thought of spying on him unless there is a very very credible reason to do so otherwise such a tendency of kumshuku may easily be translated as hostility towards him especially if done repeatedly and can easily result into him literally doing the unthinkable. Lastly my brother DJ Mo, purposely start reducing the time you spend with those mabeshties and instead divert it to your kids and wife and you’ll see how much joy and confidence it will bring to them. You are a wonderful couple and we pray for your family life that God will protect you all and keep you in His Will at all times.
