Sizzix Big Shot Switch Plus Unboxing and Review

Hey! Today I'm unboxing the Sizzix Big Shot Switch and playing with some dies and embossing folders. I was really impressed with this machine! Check it out!

I switched from the Gemini to the Cut N Boss (a UK brand) which is almost identical to this new switch. I love it because the thicker bottom plate makes the other plates last SOOOO much longer. I have had it for 6 years now and buy very thick, cover grade cardstock. There are some dies from brands I have difficulty with too - Gemini’s delicate dies like their edgables. I have learned to put a scrap cardstock underneath it to cut into. But it is great for all 3D embossing folders, Sizzix Bigz, and even older pre thin wafer plate dies from way back.

I know this is 2 years later but I also have the Cut N Boss and have had it for 8 years. I still use it and love it. I haven’t found anything I can’t use with it. When I first saw the switch I thought they must have bought the ebosser out because it’s so similar.

I just got my machine this past week. I watched Tim Holz and a few others hit the reverse button so it went back through for the second pass. That seemed to take care of it not cutting the intricate parts. I haven’t had any problems with it because I’m using the reverse button.

I packed my Gemini away once I recovered from total shoulder replacement surgery and brought out my faithful Cuttlebug. My Gemini plates warp to an unusable state so often - and I even contacted the company to find out why. I HAD been following their instructions all along, but it didn't make a difference.🙁 I took my original set of plates/shims (I have the full size Gemini) and cut them in half to try to get a little more use from them by running them through sideways, then buying new junior plates saved a few coins. I even tried Jennifer McGuire's tips to prevent warping severity as well as other tips from crafty KZbinrs. I have noticed a decline in quality on the shims as of late, and the magnet and embossing shims never held up for more than a short period of time. I am very disappointed with it. I have a brand new Spellbinders Excalibur (manual, large format) my hubby got NIB for $5.00 in my closet should I need the larger format. I also have a full set of Spectrum Noir alcohol markers (second barrel version) by CC. One marker literally fell apart recently and customer service sent me a brand new marker and a refill (long story & great customer service!). The barrels I have are no longer made and I am not impressed with the new barrel, quality wise. So sad that the quality of almost everything is going downhill these days.

So glad to see this. I found it on a special sale on the weekend. I ordered it even though it will take about three weeks to get. The scrapbook store sends in the order and they are shipped from Ellison. It was a spur of the moment decision. Now that I saw your video, I think it was a good buy.

Got mine at Hobby Lobby and it works like a dream …… simple sandwich plates to work with ……Tim Holtz on his switch reveal … gave good tips for embossing folders

The chrome precision plate works wonders with a very intricate die. I am waiting on my Switch to be delivered but I use the chrome plate in my big shot plus. Thank you for showing all the different brands of dies.
