Susan McCrady Have you used the machine yet? If so, what do you think? I’m considering buying one but am not sure I really need it or if it will work for what I would use it for. I’m wanting to start scrapbooking, nothing real fancy, just some nice pages to keep our family’s memories & to record the joy with my grand babies. So do you know if this machine will cut basic shapes, borders, trims, etc? I appreciate your time if you can let me know. Thanks!

I laughed at the glitter paper advice. Sometimes you just have to see how something doesn't work. Thanks for the demonstrations! After doing some Holiday decorations with store bought die cut shapes and running out of my favorites, I realized that I could use a device like this and cut my own elements and never run out! This seems like it would be sized for small occasional projects over someone who crafts as a regular hobby or business who might prefer a big shot or a cricut like my sister who does t-shirts.

The accessories included are really boring in the starter kits now! I wish they included that set mine, but I do love the machine! Just hard to find dies and embossing folders. Hoping they come out with more designs for the sidekick.

Sorry for not responding sooner. If you go onto the Sizzix website (sizzix.com) and search Sidekick Side-order there are a bunch of products specific to the Sidekick available. Hope this helps.

I know this is an older video, but for the embossing, any advice on how to stop the paper from crumbling?

Hi! Try spritzing the paper with a light mist of water before you emboss it. Sometimes it makes a big difference.

I just bought one and the cutting die that looks like lace edging will not go through the machine. You were saying how the butterfly one was hard to turn, this one that came with the machine is so hard I don't want to break the machine.

I definitely wouldn't force it. Maybe try a thinner weight of cardstock?

Yes, you can use any wafer dies as long as they will fit on the cutting pads 💚

Also for some dies you may need to purchase adapter plates

1-Can you link where you bought the different dies 2-And in what do I stick the stamps? Btw this helped a lot i had no ideas how to use it 😂

Unfortunately I can't link to where I got the other dies because I honestly don't remember. I've had them for a while. Sorry! As for the stamps you'll want to attach them to an acrylic block or a stamp positioner of some sort. DON'T RUN STAMPS THROUGH THE MACHINE! I hope you were not thinking of doing that but just in case 😉 Aww I'm so happy you found it to be helpful. That just made my day 💚

Hi! Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that. It sounds like something may have broken internally. I would suggest contacting the retailer you purchased it from to see if there's any way you could receive a replacement machine. Otherwise I would recommend contacting Sizzix directly to see if there's anything that they can do. I'm not sure what their policy is on product guarantees or warranties but it never hurts to ask. Hi nice job. Very limited on the size of paper you can run through - someone said “good fir tags and journals” and I guess that’s it! Have to think about this ...,shoukd I go up to a machine that takes larger paper

I would say it depends on what you're going to be making. I make a lot of cards so for me this alone would not be enough as my cover dies are about 5.5" x 4.25".

I just found you since was gifted this machine. Had questions due to the one lil page of instructions doesn't truly explain my questions. What type of paper do you recommend? Also my die cut the plate you see the die I used on it. Is that suppose to happen ?

I would recommend using really any kind of paper but probably not notebook paper or something super thin. Yes, that's perfectly normal for the die to cut the plate.

Hi I had this machine and I feel it was not for me it made all kinds of noise when using , plus the die cutting plates got so marked up just from a couple times of using and it was just to small I have bigger ones to cut and emboss I do feel this is for a child to use 🎀Thanks for your input Margaret from Florida 🌴 🌴

Thank you but there are no embossing folders for the sidekick that I can see. Just dies that are embossable. Amazing there are not more folders to emboss small card stock other than what’s called the sideline which is only four I think with dies and stamps which I don’t want.

Tim Holtz has a line called Side Orders that includes embossing folders. I've seen them at Hobby Lobby
