In this video, I’m gonna walk through each die from the TEMU 49 piece die set @ $4.48 I be showing you the difference between the Sizzix (@ $29.99 at scrapbook.com) file and specimen thinslit die set and the one from TEMU.
They are identical as far as the pieces that you get the amount that you get 49 pieces and the size of each die is the same.
In my own opinion I have noticed that the cheaper set seems to cut a better line in some of the dies. Some of the dies that are from Sizzix seem to weigh a bit more. They both seem to be durable and can stick to magnet surface.

Aren’t Tim’s designs copyrighted? What bothers me is a company stealing designs. I was told that Temu purchases discontinued designs, but in this case Tim’s design is still active. Yes saving money is important for the consumer, but if it hurts an artist it just doesn’t seem right.

He actually sells rights to companies after they are discontinued or last season. Most all companies that make art supplies do the same.

When these came out last year in chapter 3, I know it was what I would be asking for for my Christmas presents. I did and I’m so glad I got them. However, I fully realize people who can’t afford the name brand dies may very well go to the China websites to buy theirs without the brand packaging. In fact I’ve already seen one comment on this video that said something about them being copyrighted. And they probably are. But here is my concern: when you charge five times the price (or more) for dies that are made much cheaper, it sort of makes me think they are charging this price just because they can. Now I understand sizzix has to cover the artist (Tim Holtz) and their very nice packaging. But in an economy that’s already as rough as it is right now, it really sickened me that this years release was way more expensive than these sets were. It was sickening. But what made me really believe that it is no more unethical for people who can’t afford the name brand dies to purchase the cheaper ones was when I realized the name brand companies are sourcing to China to produce their work in the first place! Flip those name brand does packaging over and guess what you see:”Made in China” For what? To maximize their profit. So, if they weren’t sourcing their products from China who is a known corrupt country that steals artist’s work boldly to begin with, then I would most certainly feel differently about it. But sizzix gives their secrets to China to produce their products so to me, it is no different than buying a generic brand of cereal that tastes just like the name brand. So when all of these companies stop using China to produce their products so cheap, just to make their bank accounts fatter, then I’ll be concerned with copyright infringement. So maybe these companies should hire American companies to produce their products and this would be a win win for our country. It would produce more jobs in our country and it would keep their secrets in our country where the artists copyright is protected. But as long as these brands are getting China to make their products, I feel it is ok to purchase these products directly from China ourselves. Just sayin. 🤷🏻‍♀️

That’s the thing these aren’t copyrighted. After products have been out for a while or considered last seasons the artist will then sell rights to different companies. However if we are talking about being made in China well…. The originals ones were also made in China as you pointed out.

@@mycreativedesignsspace6739 I’m very glad you did the comparison. I was afraid to buy any of them because when the slotted pocket die came out, it was made to look just like Tim’s but it was so much bigger and a lot of people were upset. So I’ve been afraid to purchase them until I saw your videos. Now I have a lot more courage to purchase some of the ones I’ve been wanting to but not in the budget yet. I can see how this may very well stretch everyone’s crafting budget. 😎🫶🏻👍🏻👍🏻

That's how I see it, too. I bought some Sizzix products for a lot of money and also copies from AliExpress for a much reasonabler and affordabler price. I would never have been able to buy these parts original because they are really, in my country anyway, outrageously expensive - if available at all. So Sizzix doesn't suffer any loss in this process, isn't it?😊

@@ritah9890 exactly right! Sizzix didn’t lose any money on my part either because I purchased from them. I would’ve never purchased the same die twice from sizzix so they didn’t lose any money. Another thing I’ve noticed from deciding which company to purchase from is I do know it’s a gamble when you purchase directly from these China companies. I’ve seen them look just like a sizzix die from the pics but upon arrival, it certainly wasn’t the same size as the sizzix die. So people have to be really careful in the first place. But I am glad someone else feels the same about this because it really is a pet peeve of mine. People want to look down on others for buying from China instead of the over ridiculous priced product from the name brand. But this is an oxy moron in my opinion. Because it’s like “why not buy them direct from China? After all, the original name brand is buying them from China”. I don’t know, I just feel like the name brand is being a hypocrite on top of charging an exuberant amount for their product. 🤦🏻‍♀️🥴🤷🏻‍♀️

Very interesting and you did a good job in covering the comparisons between the two. I'm guessing but I'm sure you get a bit of flack for 'advertising' knock-offs but I'm glad I watched this. Thanks for sharing

Thank you and you are so welcome. I know there are some that may have a negative thoughts about my video and that’s completely okay. I did think about it before making and posting. However there are so many talented people who have amazing ideas and just can’t afford to pay higher prices for craft supplies. (Me being one of them) So if there’s a alternative options I want to share that.

I use a lot of Temu dies but they seem to be extra thick. My plates curve easily and after a few goes it’s like I have to force it through. I broke my last sizzix big shot and I’m scared to even use the one I have now, I’ve used it a handful of times. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I know you sometimes need to guide it, but having to basically shove it through doesn’t seem normal. What am I doing wrong?
