Thanks so much! I have so many intricate little appliqué designs I want to apply to masks, but I couldn’t figure out how to go around the corners using the techniques other people are using on KZbin...and I really don’t like the look of the freehand appliqué stitching on sewing machines. Your techniques here are easy to follow and I’ll be able to use them right away. Again, thanks!

I use silk thread (kimono) from Superior Threads and like it alot!

What kind of glue do you use ? I have a lot of pieces to glue down. And I'm using Elmer's school glue sparingly, applying it on to the applique.Then ironing it down, But I would like a glue that's a little more manageable to use where the flow of it is better do you have any suggestions It would be helpful if you do Thank you.

Hi Marion - we have a lot of makers who prefer good old Elmers gluesticks - in part because it's non-toxic and re-positional. If you think that's too fat to have control over, there are gluesticks marketed for english paper-piecing that have a skinnier glue stick for better control. Fons&Porter and Sue Daly are two easily accessible brands out there. Personally, I like "Roxane's Glue-Baste It". It comes in a liquid form with a very fine-tipped applicator that can give you the precision you might like to have on an intricate piece.

Can I ask your source for the Aurifil 80 thread? And how did you manage to match thread and fabric so perfectly? I live in a very rural area and would have to drive 50 miles to Denver to get to a quilt shop that might possibly have the 80-weight thread and even then it is not a certainty that I would find it. So I would probably have to order online and then the matching to the fabric would be more challenging. Any tips for that? Great video on doing a nice machine appliqué. I never would have thought to use the smaller thread, or the smaller needle.
