Neat work! I’m going to try the button hole setting to see how it turns out. I think this, blanket stitch looks more handmade than others. I’m not sure about cutting out reverse of shape if it’s for a decorative item, perhaps only on soft furnishings to make it softer, more comfortable on a pillow or quilt.

Do give it a try! I suggest you start with a simple shape to get the hang of stitching around it. Most important - have fun!

Great tip but if affordable, treat yourself to a cutting machine. I use brother scan n cut. Saves hours of this! Xx

trying to applique a marijuana leaf (no judging) long, thin with notches close together and on both sides of each leaf. tried turned edge. not very good results. this fusible technique just might work. thanks. my sewing machine skill will need to be very good.

Yes, it's going to be a time consumer to get all those notches stitched down, but it is really the only way. I hope you only have one leaf to do!

Do you need to sew it when your done, or were you just looking for a stitch look?

I always sew down my edges as sometimes fusible works free. Ultimately, it's your choice.

Cut out the fabric behind the applique to reduce bulk and weight.
