I was driving in Berkeley California the first time I heard this song. I didn’t know who this badass was, so I went straight to Tower Records to find out. Bought the cassette, popped it in my player, and hit the road again, bumping. Saw her in concert in San Francisco not long after. Been a fan ever since ❤

The way she looks at the guitarist after his solo is priceless!
@TheFriendlyPsychopath Жыл бұрын
She gave him that look because he overshot his solo and she wanted him to stop, @3:34 she gave him the signal to end the solo and fall back in to the "1" (which he didn't), then after she gave him the signal she turned to the drummer to signal to do the drummers build up signal to the other musicians to go back to the "1", if you listen everyone went back to the "1" except the guitarist.
@davidfuzefiuczynski Жыл бұрын
@@TheFriendlyPsychopath interesting insight, but MeShell would often improvise on the spot, as usual i was winding my solo down and she looked at me and cued to keep on going, then cued the band to stop but not all of them caught the cue....offstage it was a tumultuous time and unfortunately that sometimes spilled over into the performances.....
@KarlClews Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that signal was to extend the solo, and I’m pretty sure the look she gave Fuze at the end was a ‘Damn, man, that was 🔥’. Stunning performance by all involved. 👏
@TheFriendlyPsychopath Жыл бұрын
@@KarlClews Oh shut dafuk up, according to him he said the band got the cue wrong.
@KarlClews Жыл бұрын
@@TheFriendlyPsychopath Oh, I’m not disputing that - just saying that the signal she gives to the guitarist is a ‘keep going’ signal, and the look she gives him afterwards is one of respect for a solo well played. I can see clearly that she signals the band right after asking Fuze to continue, and some of them get it, some don’t. Not a problem - it sounded great.
