Flat water, ponds are one thing. Do a review on choppy waters, say 1' chop/waves. I'd like to see balance, hull performance in wind & wave conditions.

I am a former boat owner but now my kids are in college so I can not afford gas bait maintenance etc…. So now I am probably going to get a hobie and I want to thank you for your helpful video

Thanks Justin! I really enjoyed talking with Kevin in 2019 and he was telling me about the plans for the Skanu then. I’m so glad it’s finally available and can’t wait to play on one!

A true contender for the PA series from hobie I think. And that’s stock vs stock. Upgraded vs upgraded this thing walks all over the pro angler

I would have to agree. Only exception is offshore ocean use the Hobie might do better. Everywhere else the SKANU should dominate. Plan to go pick one up in upcoming week or so. Just looks like a great throw and go craft that I don’t have to baby or worry about. I have so much confidence in the build quality of this craft. Kevin ,the designer/owner, is such a cool guy and extremely knowledgeable in the fishing and boat building industry. I respect him a ton.

What is better a Tracker Topper 1236w or this Skanu for 2 people fishing?

I really like this watercraft. I saw it on Chad Hoover’s Kayak Bass Fishing (KBF) channel. He even mentioned your channel and said you’d be doing a review. I’m torn because I like the Hobie Mirage Lynx you reviewed also. Decisions..decisions! 🤔🤪 Guess I’ll have to convince the wife we need both..Wish me luck with that! 😂 Really appreciate your help Justin. 👍👌✌️

Chad Hoover is an awesome dude! Loved the little bit I could hang out with him and talk about the direction paddlesports and fishing are going. Thanks for stopping by the channel and the awesome comment.

I like to sit most of the time... How much weight does it haul?? What is the cost??? And how much does it weigh ??

Stability is my #1 thing, I’m 59 abs don’t bounce as good as I used too! I don’t like the idea of a yak tipping over with me in it 6 miles off shore when I know how many sharks there are in our Texas coastal waters. Being able to stand up on a yak abs cast for a while or landing a big fish is a dream. I am 6’5” 245lb, Ex sports, so I hv a bad knee, but can peddle but most are too slow. My #2 item is speed, I carry a motor and battery with me, swap them out during the day. #3 thing is kinda covering #1 but handling bigger waves so many times we hv to cross ICW or big channel and barges tugs boats going by and you hv to get to other side to fish, that and entering and exiting surf, would love to see how this handles that situation. Love reverse tight turns, i

What’s the max HP for the Skanu and any idea of speed?
@KayakDIY3 жыл бұрын
2.5hp is the recommended rated outboard. I am getting a 2.5hp Yamaha outboard later today. Then next week or so I will be driving up to the Skanu factory to pick one up. Between my Scout 430 and this SKANU I’m set for small watercrafts. These two crafts give me a ton of options for exploring/fishing the waters and islands. I actually think a wirelessly controlled Motorguide xi3 would be sweet on the bow of this and just paddle/pole it across fishing grounds. Another way to rig would be anchor pole on transom and no motor or bow mounted motor. I just got so many dang options. To answer your question I’m not sure on speed. It isn’t designed to be super fast. The stability on this craft felt almost better than my fiberglass skiff I built. It is super easy to stand up on. Rock solid.

You like the Skanu so much, so does this mean you are going to sell your Scout?
@KayakDIY3 жыл бұрын
NOT A CHANCE! My Scout 430 solves portability/storage/transportation problems when space is limited. Scout will also be faster and better for going longer distance quicker. Scout will use the 6hp. I will be putting a 2.5hp on the SKANU. SKANU will be nice for running the shallows hunting redfish in flats. Scout I prefer for running deeper waters and offshore.

*THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR LOYAL SUPPORT OF THE CHANNEL* *AND ALLOWING ME TO DO WHAT I LOVE.* SKANU Website: bit.ly/SKANUwebsite Is it a skiff, a canoe, a fishing kayak, a SUP, or something else....ITS A SKANU! SKANU is designed and made by an angler and boat designer I respect, Kevin. Kevin has many years of experience in the fishing and boat building industry. The SKANU can be motorized with 2.5hp gas outboard/ electric motor, paddled like a SUP, paddled like a kayak, or push poled through flats! The design has many proprietary designs and patents. It has side scuppers to reduce drag. The chines are below the waterline resulting in a significantly quieter craft for sneaking up on fish. It has a clever fishing rod deck management system, and more! Check it out....we believe it is an exceptional value for a quality built craft. At 1/4" to 1/2" thick hull you could drag the SKANU around and not baby it. I know a kayak angler who dragged a quality kayak 15 miles behind a truck on concrete with no issues....the SKANU is even thicker & durable! I'M DEFINITELY GETTING ONE after trying it at iCAST! #bassfishing #kayakfishing #fishing #flatsfishing

Looks pretty unstable while standing considering how big it is .

I literally can stand on the front 1ft of bow. I’m 200lbs. It is very solid. Most people won’t stand there. If you stand in any normal areas it is even more rock solid. My camera gear and microphone setup costs over $2500 and isn’t waterproof. I was standing on the very end of bow with confidence. I’m planning on driving up to get one. It does what no other craft cans can do. Fits in back of my truck or car-top, can paddle it, outboard motor it, pole it, or bow mount motor it. It has two standing decks. Made by the same team that designs high performance flats boats East Cape Boats.
