Personally the free-running side makes sense to me. Surely noone enjoyed trying to do the awkward jumps to get on ledges from Skate 3, having freerunning to get to new spots is a cool addition. Graphics-wise it isnt even worth thinking about yet as graphics tend to be the last thing they work on, and while i hope there is a single player mode, even if its more like an MMO, most of the skate missions from the previous games work pretty well in multiplayer format, hopefully there is ai skaters too though

story mode's a really fair point, especially if you like the idea of having a static objective, like session to me for example felt very lonely for some reason, like I was always uneasy or alone, could be the lack of speech in the game, but skate always felt like you were never alone when playing single player because of the story, missions & peds/skaters, I just really hope it isn't just a pedestrian filled world of silence besides the environment

I want flatland tricks so bad. Lemme be Rodney mullen plz 🙏 grind grab and flip are great, but manual tricks not being in skate kinda limit things. Physics of the game just don't support it yet though, and would need new controls. They haven't added darkslides in yet, but when they do, I think allowing to catch on a kickflip using Lb/L1 at 90° would allow for primo slides at the least 🤔

I’m not feeling too worried honestly. I think parkour adds the very fun element of climbing stuff to drop from, hopping fences, etc. I feel like there will definitely be a story mode, but right now they’re just making sure the game is playable and the mechanics are there before they start to really get into storytelling. Graphics always improve drastically from pre-alpha to final game. And overrall, the MMO aspect just excites me so much, as a majority of the fun with skating is being with homies. Also, I like the arcade-y vibe, maybe unpopular opinion. Just adds a very DIY park feel imo, which I always love

One of your highlights at 4:54 is actually my biggest concern. The fact that the skater went straight from a coffin to a slappy at a near perpendicular angle suggests the mechanics to be button based like Tony Hawks Pro Skater and not stick based like Skate. I hope I'm wrong, cause to me that IS what separated and revolutionized Skate from THPS.

Relating to the bright colored ramps etc... They are purely placeholder colours until they figure out what texture they want to put there. Same goes for most of the objects in view, background buildings, even the clothes arent textured, just basic placeholder textures.

Looks interesting, and will definitely try out- more likely if there is a story. Session on hardcore/manual catch has satisfied any skateboarding game need I could ever have, so anything else that comes out will definitely be overshadowed. The fact is that skate 3 is too easy, and I get bored within 20-30 minutes. You don’t have to try at all to get a realistic line, where session gives you that rewarding feeling when you nail a line.

I'm just hyped for a new skate game. I love skate 3 and I know a lot of people are concerned about the parkour functions but I like parkour games too and putting them together will be so cool especially since the off board movement was very awkward in skate 3.

A big part of skating is the bails. They need to make the characters react to bails. Example, you try to clear a gap and land awkward and your character grabs whatever part they land on. Or like you do a flip trick and the board can fly back up and hit you. It’ll add to the realistic part cause you have to make sure you land or flip the board right for the trick to actually be complete

In testing they would want to be having multiplayer be focused, and the item dropper/world builder tools would need testing. The full game will obviously be fully textured, and will not seem as wacky. This is just a problem of transparent games development. But I hope that what they show next is more grounded to alleviate these concerns people are having.

Given that they're just getting the gameplay made as of now, story modes are usually implemented after the gameplay of the game is done or nearly done. So that's why I haven't expected any story mode talk yet.

Seems pretty smooth tbh, kinda seems like ragdoll and board have different gravity though, it might just be the angle but it seems like you glide more to your intended/unintended destination on skateboard and the opposite for ragdoll, probably just to make ragdoll more realistic. 4:01 Well since it is going to be a F2P game, its pretty obvious to me that it will be focused on multiplayer, since these type of games have been successful in the last years (LoL, Apex, PUBG, Fall Guys, etc etc), so I envision there will be something like a "guide" or several "guides" (NPC's) like in the previous skate games giving us quests and they will keep appearing throughout the Multiplayer experience, so that will be the "story" within the game. So it would be something like single player, but we encounter other players during it, maybe even some being on the same quest(s). But I could be wrong and they'll also add a single player mode.

The bailing and falling looks a lot more realistic. I hated how the characters looked super stiff when bailing from huge heights and big slams. There's weight to the character models when they fall and it seems based on velocity when falling from a small ledge vs a bigger fall

Yeah, it looks more like Skate 2 with the more limp motions of the legs and arms. Rather than the Skate 3 physics where it looks like you dropped an action figure down the stairs.

As for the single player/multiplayer aspect, im sure theyll have offline mode like they do for NFS and have done in Skate 3

I’m not really holding out for a proper story. Weekly challenges to keep you busy or something along those lines would be plenty for me. They’ve said this is a Live Service MMO, so basically no chance you’ll be able to play offline. Doesn’t mean you won’t be able to have fun doing your own thing though!
