FYI you can map the joysticks quite easily for PSX, you open the retroarch menu, go to inputs and controller 1 then change the controller from Playstation to dualshock

For the price, the Series S is a monster for emulation. But if you've got the extra dough for a PC, that would be better. You get more options to tinker with, especially in the standalone version of Dolphin (GC/Wii emu).

9:38 Piracy had NOTHING to do with Dreamcast's demise. It wasn't even a minor factor. It's unfortunate that LTT helps to spread such false myths. Sega's brand was already damaged because of the Saturn. Some developers (most notably EA) didn't make any games for the DC because of Sega's policies with previous gen, not because of piracy. Then the PS2 came out, with the exact opposite brand situation. It was arguably more powerful than the DC, AND it had a DVD drive, which DC didn't. PS2 went down to become the most succesful console in history and ALSO one of the most pirated ones, along with the first PS. The underlying assumption is "piracy harm sales", which is of course wrong (you'll never buy something you never intended to). On the other hand, having pirates buying consoles boosted sales through the "peer effect" (you'll most likely buy the same console than your friend, and you also might buy some genuine games that your friend doesn't). Back then, even if you had a lot of pirated games on your DC/PS2, you were still able to play with genuine games without any issue. Nowadays, a hacked PS4 is *completely useless* if you want to play online or with newer genuine games. In the end, users of these consoles cannot buy any genuine games at all, even if they want to (now THAT'S losing sales). But, more importantly, this makes un-hackable consoles less appealing to a lot of players like me, who don't see any real value in having just locked down PC hardware. And we can actually do the proper math (i.e. console base price + years of online subscription + more expensive games = higher costs than a nice PC gaming rig).

Fun fact about breaking console security: The PS3 remained unbroken until Sony removed support for other operating systems. Once they revoked the ability to run your OS of choice, a determined effort to break the system's security started. It's not piracy that drives the cracking of consoles, but homebrew. Something to note: Retroarch is only running in Xbox One compatibility mode on the Series. Once Libretro updates it to run natively on the Series, performance and compatibility will get even better.

They don't care about you buying the Xbox system. What they care about is a lot of these people who want emulation in modding are going to buy the console as an emulation box. There is a very good chance that they're going to try it out as a console too, subscribe for Game Pass for a free month, enjoy the service, and then continue paying it. Xbox is now basically Game Pass.

@@MGMan37 well, depend on what console you want to emulate, all 8, 16, 32 bits including N64 and PS1 works well on Xbox One. But if u want to emulate Gamecube, Dreamcast, Wii and PS2, Xbox Series S/X is a must.

Yeah a few years ago when I went on another emulation kick on my computer, I found the only way to be able to use the analog stick as a d-pad was through an external button mapping program like xpadder. I’m sure there is another way with the emulator but than xpadder just worked better for my needs.

Hi i dont know if you read the messages, but just for you know, loads of ps1 games just simply dont have analog enabled (if i recall correctly, in the crash series it was implemented on the 2nd ep, tomb raider on the 3rd) To make it work you have to tweak in the d pad settings and map the analog keys instead of the dpad. Dont worry about other games, if you do so by the ingame menu, the settings can be saved only for the game running :)

Crash Bandicoot 1 is one of those games that does not support analog sticks. With some effort (retroarch controller mapping files) you can force a mapping, but it never feels quite right.

@@GrumpyWolfTech they're saying that at the time that crash bandicoot released, the original PS controller was the only thing out which was basically like an SNES controller with 2 more shoulder buttons.... so that's why there was no support for the analog sticks. Dual Analog came out like 6 months later and the Dual Shock 6 months after Dual Analog.
