I know they want the flick it controls because it's obviously skate but not having an option for dual stick controls is a huge miss. By now most people are accustomed to skaterxl and session controls def feels like a missed opportunity

Duel stick controls are great, but I have to say that I have been enjoying going back to "basics" with playing Skate again via backwards compatibility on my Xbox. The buzz around the new game has me booting up the old games. While the tricks aren't as techincal like SXL or Session, it has them both beat in the flow. Skate absolutely nails the flow. Your skater feels like there is weight and momentum behind him. Kinematics are superb in Skate and more natural looking. I'm willing to die on the Skate control scheme hill because (for me), I don't mind the OG controls. The bag of tricks isn't as much as SXL or Session, but when I'm playing Skate I completely forget about the lack of tricks because I'm having a blast doing the most important thing: virtual skateboarding. To each his own. Duel thumbstick controls would be amazing for the new game, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker. If anything, the devs may have figured out how to condense flip tricks so it works on one stick. They've already talked about how there will be more trick variety than any of the old games. If Skate 4 has even 40-50% of what SXL and Session can do (unmodded), duel sticks won't be needed.

tbf it seems like EA don't know they own the Skate Franchise as they never do this and if they are actually taking testing seriously and fan feedback then that would be very good as with Fifa they don't listen. I had the beta for a couple Fifa's and EA FC24, you get certain modes so I got Career it said via email but when I actually installed the beta I had none of the 'Special' modes not even the Volta thing lmaoo. I was on the EA Beta Testing forum everyday and EA never acknowledged it but people who I guess had access would just comment 'This is Awesome' with 0 feedback and a EA Member would respond. I have hope in Skate even tho it's EA because they have been so open and you can see the Devs put themselves out there and seem to have passion for making the game you don't see that with any other EA game

If they make a shit ton off it, Skate 5 will come out in a year with minimal changes but a 'progression' system that you can MTX to fast track. I hope i'm wrong but.. it's EA.

@@wildcat31772 Nah I think the fact it's free to play and them having a 'Dynamic Soundtrack' means this will be the only skate game for a while (Probably the only one of this 'generation'). There will be microtransactions I hope it's minimal but like you say it's EA, it may start off small and they get their praise then just bomb it with a bunch of microtransactions because they see the 'Success'

I loved the skate controls. Took a while to get used to sesssion and I love it but it is way easier to steer with a left stick versus the triggers. Easier to flow in the skate games vs Session or Skater XL

You are completely right on the gameplay priority. If you prioritize the world before the gameplay you get games like fnaf security breach, a game where they literally built the pizza plex before deciding anything about how the game was gonna play. It doesn't work, so it's a good sign that Skate. didn't do that.

This was the best update video they have put out yet. I have some skepticism still but I’m actually really excited for Skate. I’m glad they are sticking with the flick it controls and not dual stick. Dual stick is Session and Skater XL but flick it has been Skate since 2007. Curious about mobile too, I know it can be run on mobile since AC Mirage plays well on my iPhone and Skate is getting a last gen release but how will controls work?

the reason why the game looks like that is for the reason you say. they are likely already busting out the gameworld on the art side but to make iterations faster they use a low res, efficient version of the world. the textures, models, and other things will be added in probably all at once or in sections toward the end of development. there is a pipeline for game dev. im sure this game will look pretty good
