Could you imagine, just seeing a fuckin 8 ball as a beater?
@TonyVazquez82655 жыл бұрын
Perhaps it's a nice idea for looks. But in practicality, it would be way too heavy... you could bruise your leg from its rebound... it is too heavy for speed... and it would damage or wear out your drum head sooner if you're a frequent player (rehearsals, and gigs).

Just a small point - some of the more recent skateboards had much smaller wheels (I'm talking 90s here, about the last time I skated lol), so they may be more suited, weight wise :)

I'm wondering if you flattened the top and bottom of the wheel and kept the bearing cavity open. But put the rod through the bottom maybe the the open side hitting the head would make it sound different? I don't know I'm not a drummer but would the opening help with not dentting the head,

I've been using one of these for a little while now, but I couldn't think of a good way to keep it attached to the rod until I watched this, It's such a simple fix as well. Time to dig out the epoxy! As for denting the heads, I've been using duct tape as a beater patch and haven't noticed it much.

rdavidr - What are your thoughts on the Evans EMAD Heavyweight or EMAD2? I used to put the EMAD (plus a patch for added definition) on my bass drum but I wasn't digging the fact that I'd bust through it like paper a few months down the line. So I switched to two ply and haven't looked back. I use Remo, I currently have the coated Powerstroke 4 which is two plies of 10-mil. (Background: I've only really played in hard rock bands and I'm not endorsed so I have to use the two ply heads for 49% durability and 51% tone/sound/voice to project over loud amps.)
@rdavidr9 жыл бұрын
+Paulson Ive never used them. I am a fan of the emad. But the head I have on my Tama (the one in this vid) is a gmad, which I fell in love with the day I put it on.

I use to use the red wooden beaters and then I used skateboard wheels and made my speed cobras feel faster and it gave me a bigger punch
@caprikorny84806 жыл бұрын
I thought of doing this, but using the axle out of a.skateboard truck as the rod. That way you could use the bearings in the wheel to hold it on. Would need some padding behind it on the head or it would probably tear a hole right through it after a while.
