I cruise street everyday and hit different skateparks 2/3 times a week. I only started skating at lockdown (6mths), and after taking repeated slams, never ever thought I would do drop-ins, or even run a line from one side of a park to the other. But I did, with determination, dedication, discipline, and more importantly the love of skating a board. Practice doesn't mean that you will always succeed, but without it you never will. I'm 58 in a few months.

Learn something new everyday, even if it’s just rolling off a curb you’ve never done before. Also, skate with people who are better than you and/or will push you. Don’t get comfortable, keep moving forward. Cruise around your city with no limitations on where you’re going...it will force you to adapt to different obstacles and get you more comfortable on your board.

I‘ve been skating pretty much daily, but sadly I got back pain from it. I needed to take a break until my back recovered, which took me longer than a week and a half. It was awful. To anyone that has the same problem, I kind of worked against it with keeping the spot warm with patches and stuff and to know when to stop skating for the day. Most of the time I don‘t want to stop, but I rather skate a little less than a whole week with intense pain, eventhough progressing and learning new stuff becomes an addiction lol.

i used to only skate 1-2 a week because I was busy a lot and had a really shitty old board, and I felt like I was frozen in my progression. I started skating every morning before school even if it’s just riding the board for 20 minutes. I’ve found that skating every day even if you’re not trying new tricks allows you to progress MUCH faster than if you do a really hard session once a week. You have to keep the muscle memory fresh in your mind
@mr.charisma2254
@mr.charisma2254 3 жыл бұрын
You don’t need to skate everyday but you need to be able to skate 4 to 6 days a week so you’re able to progress faster. And it’s better to focus on 1 or 2 tricks at a time so you can get the moucle memory as if you try 5 tricks a day your brain will get confused. I really hope this helped

I learnt how to skate on transition, and is still my favourite style.. but when I wanted to learn new flip tricks and stuff I'd just play games of SKATE with whoever was down the park at the time, I'd either learn something new, or teach someone else something they didnt know.. that helped me progress the most, you dont realise how good you can get.. oh and while playing skate, never just take a letter.. get cuts and bruises from falling off trying something new, the body heals

KRISHNAKANTH INUKONDA same man. I’d say try to land with the foot that flicks over and over again so you can teach yourself how to keep the flicking foot above the board. And if you can get a consistent flick then that’s when you should start trying with both feet. Note: you may get discouraged but think about how much you wanted it and get it

Due to Covid I am able to skate every day, which I have been doing. I have been skating for 7 weeks now and I am comfortable at doing ollies and even a nollie. I'm working on shuv-its now and have ordered a grind rail. Daily skating has allowed me to progress very quick and I am very grateful for this opportunity. A bonus is living on the Central Coast in California where to weather damn near perfect not to mention to amount of parks and smooth pavements.

As a competitive swimmer, swimming is pretty hard. It’s very draining and it takes lots of dedication to get good, that said skateboarding is probably harder.

Art_School_Idiot I know that swimming is difficult but in skating to do a trick you try many times and well there is a possibility that you hurt yourself
@Basb04

@@itz_alexx2134 yeah that is true. You can hurt yourself and stuff and it is very hard. But to get better only by a second is like 24 hours of work. Tbh as someone who also skates i think they are even in difficulty.

I'm new to skating, and i found my board on the side of the road next to a piano. I took both home with me. Now i play piano. But besides that, I'm really happy because I've always wanted to skateboard, and i know it's gonna take a really long time, but it's really fun, and maybe i could help other new skaters learn, too. And no one in my neighborhood skateboards and i have no one to practice with :(

Getting good fast = push yourself, but also know you're limits. If you get stupid, you get hurt, and that will slow your progression down BIG TIME. I'm 47, and only started skating two months ago. I try to go out 4 times a week, but work 6 days a week, have a family, etc. I also don't recover from exercise and injuries as fast as someone half my age. Bottom line is go out and have fun! That's all there is to it.

Used to skate like once a week or sometimes only twice in a month for 2 years and also started pretty late, I am in my twenties. Recently started to skate almost everyday, with few breakes here and there, and the overall feel and progression improved a lot.. but my problem is, being a bit of perfectionist, I am almost never satisfied with my tricks. I land them but I always feel like I need to pop more or catch it better and so on. So instead of learning something new I tend to do same stuff everytime, because I feel like I don't really know how to do those tricks. That being said, I think the key is not to worry about the progression that much, of'course we all want to progress, but there is no reason to be upset, it's all about just having fun. The best thing about skateboarding is just having a reason to be 6 hours a day outside, meeting new people, not caring about negative things happening and just enjoying the moment. Skateboarding is the best thing I ever did.

Played football for 8 years , ran track for 2 years & boxed for 1-2 years. Skateboarding is pretty hard, well trick wise. When I first got it I can easily push, but tricks oh man it’s so difficult. I completely enjoy it tho ! It’s a good feeling when you’re progressing. I only went to my local skatepark once & mans it sucks when you don’t know how to use the obstacles lol. But it’s enjoyable soothing. Overall I plan on to keep skating as a hobby it’s cool

If there is anything I have learned is to have a positive mentality. If I believe I can do something I can do it. I already do most of the things recommended in this video except skating with friends. ( every once in a while I do.) I have recently lost my varial heelflips. What did I do in response? Rage, swear and kick my board around. I'm not getting anywhere because I choose to make excuses and whine about it. It's super frustrating. Try to keep a calm mind through it all and you'll get it. Don't be like me whining all of the time. That's something I need to work on. My board is also pretty damaged but that isn't stopping me from landing any other tricks.
